The Takehara Historic Preservation District is located in Takehara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and is designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the Japanese government. This area preserves the townscape that flourished during the Edo period due to the salt industry, and it is often referred to as “Little Kyoto of Aki”.
Visitors can enjoy strolling through the district, experiencing the atmosphere of the Edo period. There are various activities such as bamboo craft workshops and tours of historical buildings. Additionally, guided tours are available to learn more about the history and culture of Takehara.
