woosang and I stayed at a traditional japanese inn or ryokan (madoka no mori) in hakone for a night during our trip to japan. it was such an insane experience! highly recommend it to anyone visiting japan ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔっ

▶︎ onsen: the ryokan is renowned for its private hot spring baths (onsen), there are so many therapeutic benefits of hakone’s natural hot springs!
▶︎ beautiful accommodation: rooms are typically designed in a blend of traditional japanese and modern styles, featuring tatami mats, futons, and shoji screens, often with private gardens or views of the surrounding nature
▶︎ kaiseki cuisine: this was such a highlight! we were offered a kaiseki-style dinner that focuses on seasonal ingredients, meticulously prepared and beautifully presented
▶︎ scenic location: the ryokan was perfect for a peaceful retreat with access to the region’s famous sights, such as lake ashi, the hakone shrine, and views of mount fuji
