Christmas in Wakayama – Festa Luce’s Illuminations at Marina City (Porto Europe) Theme Park (4K)
Japan has many illumination events throughout winter and one of them is Festa Luce held within a theme park named Porto Europe (also known as Marina City) in Wakayama. Porto Europe is a full-scale reproduction of streets in France, Italy & Spain that have been constructed within a romantic theme park surrounded by the ocean. During the lead up to Christmas you can experience Christmas market stalls (operating weekends and holidays until 25th December), festive food, fantastic illuminations and projection mapping taking place around a castle. This is an annual event and this year it’s being held between 2nd November 2024 to 24th February 2025. During the day the park is open most days between 11am-4pm and entrance is free but there is an additional fee for attractions and events. From the 2nd November the park is also open for illuminations most days between 5pm-9pm and extended until 10pm most Saturdays, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The park hosts special performances held throughout the season that are listed on the website below. Tickets are 1800 yen for adults and 1000 yen for children at the ticket gate or if you decide to purchase in advance online you can save 200 yen per ticket. This will need to be exchanged at the ticket gate. For an additional fee you can pay to go on each ride or buy a separate ticket that includes unlimited use on all the rides. This is 1800 yen for adults and 1600 yen for children although note that the park does not operate rides every day.
