Yes. Totally agree. However, the authorities/government should be careful not just to go 'patching roads' but to ensure that those that need a total upgrade or redevelopment should be dealt with accordingly. There are many roads that were constructed in the 40s and 50s even earlier that have outlived its designed life span and has deteriorated beyond just patching. In some instances, they are not able to carry the volume of traffic or neglected. One such road is the Newport Asia to Pusey Hill Road in South Manchester, which goes down to Toll Gate. That upgraded road would open some very buetiful areas for housing development like an area in Victoria Town overlooking the Plains of Vere. Such a road would also serve as a feeder road to Highway 2000 East/ West.
The problem is not just fixing roads but initiating sustainable/shortened road maintenance cycles. To fix roads from a single central government bureaucracy point in Kingston means reduced spatial administrative focus as they grapple with many more client community roads to address on a untimely national basis.
County tax based road funding would limit the number of targeted roads to be maintained thereby speeding up the road maintenance repair cycle timelines on a REGIONAL basis….a critical (time based tax saving) consideration given that Jamaica's network of community roads is CONSTANTLY EXPANDING….!
Is this just for main road or back roads also everyday commute for children should be added with Sidewalks and guard rails all this need to be factored in not just the roads but the infrastructure

I drive on a road weekly from LINSTEAD to GUYS HILL…it's the worst road in JAMAICA..
Suggestion, how about labeling roads and any other things of interest in your videos on screen?
They need to fixed the roads overnight when they’re less traffic!
