We were served a Japanese breakfast in our room, “The House Izumi,” a fully renovated 150-year-old village headman’s farmhouse in the Uonuma area of Niigata. It is a 182m² stand-alone unit and part of Satoyama Jujo (里山十帖), a luxury ryokan in Minamiuonuma, Niigata Prefecture (新潟県南魚沼市.)
