小さな島ですが、本島から車でゆくことができます。島全体は祈りの場（聖地）となっており、日本でも有数なパワースポットです。島には何箇所ものカー（樋川）と言う湧水の拝所があり、特にシルミチューは、鳥居の先の長い石段を登る天然の鍾乳洞（祠）で、シルミチュー（シネリキヨ）とアマミチュー（アマミキヨ）が子宝を授かったと言われている所で、生涯を暮らした場所となっています。
Although it is a small island, you can get there by car from the main island. The entire island is a place of prayer (sacred ground), and it is one of the most powerful spots in Japan. There are many spring water worship sites called Ka (Hikawa) on the island, and Shirumichu in particular is a natural limestone cave (shrine) that can be reached by climbing a long flight of stone steps beyond the torii gate. It is said that Shirumichu (Shinerikiyo) and Amamichu (Amamikiyo) were blessed with children, and it is where they spent their entire lives.
