We took the train from Osaka to Nara’s deer park where the deer are famously known for bowing. There are over 1,000 free-roaming deer here and they are considered messengers of the Gods. You can buy food from multiple street stalls to feed the deer and guarantee seeing a bow! It was great to see all the deer and we had a really fun day BUT we saw so many tourists being disrespectful around the deer with children sitting on them, chasing them round and crowding round a mother deer when she was feeding her baby, causing her to stop. It’s definitely best to stay calm around the deer to prevent any injury and to give them their space especially around the fawns.
