Fushimi Inari Shrine Walking Tour | Kyoto ⛩️🦊🇯🇵

Join me on a captivating walking tour of Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, one of Japan’s most iconic and spiritual landmarks located in Kyoto. This ancient shrine, dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice and prosperity, is famous for its stunning thousands of red torii gates that form a path up Mount Inari.

In this video, I explore the shrine’s 1,300-year history, its significance as the head shrine among 30,000 Inari shrines across Japan, and why visitors come from all over the world to pray for bountiful harvests, business success, family safety, and the fulfillment of wishes. Along the way, I trek the entire hike, which takes around 2–3 hours, sharing tips on how to experience the site without the usual crowds—hint: it’s best to visit early in the morning!

Fushimi Inari Taisha’s winding paths also reveal small shrines, fox statues (Inari’s sacred messengers), and breathtaking views of Kyoto from the summit.

Afterwards, I venture to Gion’s Geisha District, where I had a close call with a local driver while attempting to capture a photo in the early morning quiet of this restricted area at 4:00 AM.
