  1. The story about the cats in the bank gave me a good laugh. Thanks for a good podcast that made my workout fly by.

  2. In Beppu they do have restaurants that cook a wide variety of foods in the onsen STEAM (not directly in the water like the onsen tamago). Potatoes, meats, tofu, various veggies including corn on the cob. Some places have more variety than others. It was a cool experience.

  3. It’s not a boobie. It’s a duck butt. The Sugamo mascot is a duck. 😂 if you go to Sugamo on a day ending in “4” the long shopping street is a street food festival. The best places in Tokyo are the areas not on a typical tourist list.

  4. In no world would I ever pay the equivalent of $2000 for a taxi ride unless I was trying to save my family from war.
Certainly not to get back to my job.
I'd rather send my boss an email and tell him to start using some of my remaining holidays and promise him a souvenir of some sort 😂

  5. I traveled to Japan solo earlier in the year and then to Thailand in the summer.
I think people in Japan tend to be reserved and tourists adopt this attitude so you do feel lonely there as opposed to Thailand where everyone is social and open.

  6. Stayed in Sugamo a few weeks back. That whole train station is a vibe. That becks coffee at the top perched over track and the calmness at night it is compared to everywhere else is nice. I'd definitely stay in Sugamo if it's your first time in Tokyo just cuz it's a chill place to go to your hotel after all the hectic crowds everywhere else.

  7. Can't you carry a business card? Japan lives and respects business cards and you can customize it to be in Japanese explaining you promote Japanese culture in a positive light?

  8. Who's that in the telly reflection?? Is someone standing at the window?? Thoroughly enjoyed this video😊😊 Hooe you've not got a wee ghostie 😅😅

  9. I just got back from a solo trip to Japan (although my 3rd trip now to Japan, first solo) and I couldn’t recommend it enough. I was at a point I wanted to do and see certain things and not be judged or conflicted with another persons goals for their trip. I loved it, spend 10 days in Japan and never once felt lonely. I had my phone and talked to friends when I needed, but otherwise just took it all in. Loved the experience.

  10. I love the idea of Pete going to Japan, drinking all the beer and going back to England when there's none left

  11. I could never of imagined a group of Yakuza people coming into a bank with cats, all because they got rejected for creating an account. That's hilarious, they sound like the kind of people with a great sense of humour you can sit down and drink with.

  12. I was talking in a bar to two tourists who were talking about japan like it was a size of a small state in US.

They were planning to take day trips from Tokyo all the way up to Kobe without knowing anything what was up there, just that it has Kobe beef..

  13. Travelling solo is the best, if you speak Japanese.
    – you can interact with locals freely
    – easy to choose where to eat
    – you are NOT the designated translator

  14. Dude! Shotgun mics must the social equivalent of doing jumping jacks in public with your fly open in front of people. And no underwear.

  15. I really like your content, following since the very beginning, but this mustache guy is so boring and flat.

  16. 23:46 I fucking love Pete. I'm gonna be so sad when the next episode comes out and they're back to being in desperate rooms.

  17. To anyone else asking the question about travelling solo, solo travel is the best kind 99% of the time. Don't wait for someone else to join you or you'll never go – go have a good time!! Japan is one of the best places in the world for it!

  18. The crazy part about that taxi story is, dont people plan their last 2 days of vacation in and around the city where their airport is? I know from my own experience that I can't deal with the stress of traveling last minute.

  19. To the solo travel person. Do it, I actually did my first trip solo last December off the back of Chris’s video on why you shouldn’t visit Japan in Christmas. I loved it, I discovered so much and was free to explore at my own pace.
I’m just back from a two month trip and I made so many Japanese and tourist friends because I was there by myself.

  20. My wife and spent the last weekend in Nikko and it was such a wonderful break from Tokyo. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming! A couple of times while visiting smaller shrines there would be an old woman there, not a guide or anything but simply just visiting the shrine for themselves, and they spent about 10-20 minutes explaining the shrine and the history of the are, it was really nice. Most people keep themselves to themselves in Tokyo, so it was very refreshing to experience how welcoming and willing to interact the people of Nikko are!

Additionally, we did try out the Cuban sandwich place as recommended by Pete!… Thank you for the recommendation! It was delicious and the guy there again was super friendly!

  21. I subscribe to the podcast on YouTube music both this podcast and the Animals Attack podcast are missing. Just a head up incase it’s YouTube’s doing
