▼About Katsuura Large Catch Festival
It is Katsuura’s autumn festival held over four days.
On the first day, an event is held in which the spirit is carried in the mikoshi, and the mikoshi and dashi “village round” parade through the districts.
On the 2nd day, portable shrines from each area hold a joint festival in which “simultaneous carrying” and other events are seen, and you can see the magnificent and lively atmosphere of the festival.
On the third day, stalls in Uehonmachi, Nakamoto-cho, Shimomoto-cho, and Izumi-4 districts parade through the city, and four stalls face each other at an intersection, demonstrating the competitive performance of hayashi.
On the final day, the festival ends at Katsuura Fishing Port with a “Funafuri of Mikoshi” in which the portable shrine is handed from ship to ship.
