We Moved to JAPAN! Our 10-Day Road Trip from Tokyo to Kagoshima.
We arrived in Tokyo on August 9th, were picked up by a friend at the airport and driven 3 hours to the west where we had a van waiting for us that we had recently purchased from overseas (no easy feat)! We started our road trip at about 11pm and spent the next 10 days winding through the backroads of Japan. We avoided all toll roads which doubled our drive time but made for incredible scenery and special experiences along the way. We made friends in the Osaka area and stayed there for three days, a welcome break from the relentless heat outside and from sleeping in the front seats of the van. The heat was brutal the whole time with the heat index of about 104-111 degrees f each day. We car camped at roadside stations each night. Eventually we crossed the bridge from Honshu to Kyushu and drove towards our new home on the tenth day of a long but wonderful road trip.
