LIVING in FUKUOKA | No.13 | Flea Market & local food in Hakozaki
I live in Fukuoka.
And this is a vlog of my ordinary days.
Fukuoka is known as a “compact city”, having a high level of public transportations. By taking a few subway stations, you get to explore the city. It was a national holiday on Monday and I took the subway to Hakozaki.
My main purpose was to check out the Flea Market. Hakozaki’s Flea Market is happening once a month, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Surprisingly, when I got there around 10:30, the place was already full of people looking to find good antique, vintage items. I really enjoyed the flea market and I think I want to go back again next month.
Of course, I took time to visit a couple of places for local foods.
The temperature is dropping down in Fukuoka and the day time is short. Before it gets too cold, I want a little bit more of exploring and enjoying the autumn in the city.
Thank you for watching.
Please check information about shops & places here below.
- Hakozaki Flea Market 箱崎蚤の市
Montly flea market in Hakozaki, mostly for Japanese antique,
vintage items.
Next date : December 8, 2024
from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
– Nagata Bakery ナガタパン
The bakery looks as if it appears in the movie or histrical drama.
It is probably one of the most photogenic bakeries in Fukuoka.
I personally like to eat in here because of the building.
If you find the seat on the second floor, help yourself to the free coffee
by the stairs on the 1st floor and bring your tray to up stairs.

They serve Tonkotsu Ramen and Yakitori.
Lunch time and dinner time opens, located almost next to the
Nagata Bakery.

Super nice to see pics from Fukuoka! I lived there for many years. Yes, Fukuoka is quite compact and both subway and buses and the densha are excellent. I mostly moved with bicycle, Fukuoka is very flat, I was everywhere in the city and suburbs by bicycle. At the north edge of Hakozaki I often went to a Pakistani shop who sold lamb meat at a reasonable price. Also all other directions, Nishi ward, Itoshima, Ohashi, Minami, Kasuga etc. I must say I never made any finds at the Hakozaki flea market. More in small shops behind Ohori park and in watch and camera shops near Reisen park or on Yahoo auction simply. I know now it is closed for people outside of Japan unless you have a VPN that works. We lived in Nakasu and Hakozaki was pretty close by. It was nice to walk there and watch people and have some street food or eat in a resto nearby. Your dinner looked great! Arigato!
