LIVING in FUKUOKA | No.12 | Extraordinary Tourist Spots in Hakata – Tempura Takao, Kawabata Zenzai
I live in Fukuoka.
And this is a vlog of my ordinary days.
On the 5th week of October, we had quite many rain and cloudy days.
The weather made me stay in my neighborhood area, Hakata and Nakasu and I visited some of popular tourist spots which has extraordinarity and wow-factors. For example, Rakusuien is a very small Japanese garden in the middle of Hakata surrounded by buildings. The location is surprising but the entrance fee as well. Within a walking distance, is Tempura Takao
who serves very nice Tempura with good quality. Tempura seems ordinary, staple, but their Tempura goes beyond.
It was fun to find the extraordinary things around Hakata area.
Thank you for watching.

Hello again, 2nd Passport. Very nice clip. Your videos bring back so many memories from our years in Fukuoka, my gf is Japanese. The little garden Rakasuien is nice, also the garden in Ohori park and Yusentei. Sorry to say, as a coffee, beer and chu-hi drinker I find tea ceremonies overrated, but ofc did some. We lived in Nakasu just next door to the Kawabata shopping arcade. Yes, Kawabata zenzai was rebuilt and opened over the years, but I never eat sweet stuff, so not for me. The old one was closed down mid-90´s and then there was also a fire, I think. I was at the arcade though almost every day, for veggies, for natto from the countryside sold from car trunks, for small things from a one-coin shop etc. Or for dinner in the evening. But I politely pushed my bicycle inside. There used to be an excellent grilled curry place and also a Korean in the cellar. I was also amazed that just when kawabata arcade exited towards Canal City, this huge, fancy shopping mall, there was a small shop with just a sewing machine in a window, the sign said: clothes changed. One women worked it, I do not know how she managed the rent? But it was charming, old and new mixing in Japan. Also in the neighbourhood quarter someone had put his old collection of old cigarette packs, lighters and ashtrays etc in glass windows displays, on the street! The displays were locked, but no alarms or such. No one touched them. I was amazed. Also how people now and then put out stuff for sale on the sidewalk and no one there. Just a sign saying take what you want and pay what you want another day. Shit, in Europe all would just disappear within half an hour! Many more stories like that from Japan, 30 liter sake barrels delivered sitting on the sidewalk many hours before the izakaya opened. Business people leaving their briefcases on the sidewalk when going into a shop etc etc. My years in Japan were wonderful and taught me a lot about life. Very nice lunch you cook at home with kombu and edamame beans and all! I like your videos a lot, Fukuoka and food etc, but go a bit slower or lower on the music, that is just me. Arigato! And best luck from Romania.
