The Side of JAPAN That Media Does Not Show

We went off the beaten track in Japan and in the countryside discovered the 2 most beautiful villages called Magome and Tsumago. Which in our opinion are the most beautiful places in Japan.

Joe, a seasoned traveler of 8 years, began his journey while working in Australia, New Zealand and Canada (holding over 25 different jobs). Liisu, a former medical doctor, joined the adventure 2 years ago. Now we live on the road, exploring the world either from our backpacks or in a van.

  1. I love Japan, specially these kinds of never been seen before sides of it. Makes me feel like im in a fantasy video game. Fell inlove with the scenes the moment I saw them. Truly wonderful. Thank you for showing it to us. Safe travels!

  2. The way my head perked up when you said Magome… We went there in 2016 and also took the trail to Tsumago. I was told that the hike "wasn't that bad" and it was "mostly downhill". -_- Well, it was magical anyway. Loved the hike, loved the quieter stopover between Tokyo and Kyoto.

  3. Thank you for sharing what you experienced in Nagano!!! . If you come to Japan next time, please come to Setouchi inland sea and enjoy 600-700 tiny islands on the sea. It's less known than Nakasane dou, but so beautiful also you can lent bycicle and enjoy 70 km cycling though huge bridges of Shimanami kaidou.

  5. Another great video, many thanks, Japan looks awesome and that beef sushi I would love to try! Greetings from Dominican Republic as always and sending you much positive energy!

  8. Please do not introduce the Japanese countryside. It has been reported that Vietnamese thieves have robbed many Japanese rural houses. The quiet rural life is at risk. Also, the unreasonable behavior and trash of tourists destroy the peaceful life.

  9. I’m glad you enjoyed Magome and Tsumagome. Honestly speaking, those places usually have lots of tourist. You can say that from the signs are written in English (if no tourist, only Japanese signs).
But there are so many attractive places like this in Japan. We are not only Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima like you said.

  10. Please allow me to correct some information.
6:42 it is a Chinese buildings, not Japanese.
And the Nakasendo is not made for postal delivery. In 16th century, we had Edo Era when Shogun lived in Tokyo(Edo) and regional rulers called Daimiyo had to travel to Edo to meet Shogun and serve Shogun for a few months periodically. This is called Sankonkotai. This was to see the royalty of Daimyos to Shoun, also make them to spend money. So Nakasendo and other 16th century pathways (Kaido) are made for regional Daimiyos travel to and from Edo for Sankinkotai.

  11. Thank you so much sharing your video. I’ve never been there before but I really enjoyed watching and feel like I could have a trip to the place you visited.
It is really interesting to know how foreign people feel and think about our country.
By the way the road sign you found which was a man with a hat and a little girl means “Pedestrian only from 10:00am to 4:00pm”. 😊

  12. The city picture shown at 6:40 is clearly the one of old China, So you came back to your country without understanding Japanese esthetic taste, What a shame.

  13. When i was yong,, I stayed at Tsumago and at that time , the travelers from forein countries are not there. many young Japanese travelers gathered from busy bustle cities for the calm relief and thoughts of old ancestor's life!

    😂

  16. 6:42 Stop brainwashing with Chinese pictures!! Scammer🖕 This is an absolutely unforgivable insult to the Japanese people. I feel cold and nauseous! White people with the temperament of frauds should not talk about Japan! How many times do you have to repeat it before you realize your mistake? Ignorant white people don't know anything about Japanese history, only sully💢
Get lost! A fraud who is not qualified to talk about Japan!! Delete the video or change the content!!!!

  18. 6:42 Stop manipulating impressions by swapping Japan and China! ! It's fine if you just pretend to know and show your own ignorance, but why don't you realize that you're degrading Japan, lowering its impression, and polluting it? Fool.
Why are foreign countries repeating the anti-Japanese hate propaganda that they have continued to do after the war? An incompetent hypocrite who only sees the surface! If you don't know, stop directing and just leave the images as they are.
