The piece of durian Jimmy ate was one of the more expensive durians in Malaysia. So RM28 for a piece can be alright if it’s from a high end durian. A whole durian will sometimes cost RM250 for just one. Maybe he wasn’t ripped off in reality

Also, best place for local Malaysian food would be at Jalan Alor (if it’s in the city center) not Petaling Street.

too much ginger on the lala noodles means it might not be fresh. AND you definitely got scammed by the durian sellers. the chicken wings rm15 for one was too overpriced too 🥲 which is why locals don't go to petaling street. but there are some trendy cafes around petaling street.

I used to live in Malaysia and was fortunate to do a road trip and travelled all over mainland Malaysia. In my opinion, the best cuisine I had whilst living in Malaysia was in Georgetown and many hawker areas in Penang Island. Would love to see our man Uncle Jimmy vist Penang Island
