Lake Tasawa or Tazawako is the deepest lake in Japan.
It is located an hour´s drive east of Akita City. The deep of this lake is 423 meters.
The name of this girl in this statue is Tatzuko. Tatsuko means dragon an KO means girl in Japanese, that is dregongirl.
Legend has it that she asked the gods to live forever, her wish was granted, and to do so she had to turn into a dragon and live at the bottom of this lake.
This statue reminds us that she lives there and that she attracts visitors with an irresistible force to enter the lake.
