Honestly, the amount of land they once held was shocking. It is important to note though, that they (especially in the spice islands) were just as brutal (if not more so) towards native populations as Spain and Portugal were.

Ive been to the netherlands many time because i live close. This place is like an exact copy. I can see myself there, sitting in cafe in the evening and forget thats not the real netherlands. But all the tourists would break the mimersion.
