This view looks straight out of an anime #japantravel #hiddengem #mustsee

Can you believe how close this is to Tokyo? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Part 7๏ธโƒฃ of our travel sabbatical adventures in Japan! ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต

๐Ÿ‘‰ If you love travel or want to see the realities of traveling through our eyes, then come follow us @minjunandkevin on our travel sabbatical around the world! ๐ŸŒŽ

This temple really looks like something out of a Japanese anime! This hidden gem is Risshaku-ji Temple in Yamadera, only 2.5 hours away from Tokyo โ›ฉ๏ธ

We loved the forested path along the way and the view of the 8 temples on the top of the mountain was so mystical, especially in the rain ๐ŸŒณ

No wonder it inspired one of the most famous Japanese haikus! ๐Ÿ–‹

๐Ÿš† Getting there: Take the train from Tokyo Station to Yamadera Station with a transfer at Sendai Station. From there, itโ€™s a 5 minute walk across the bridge to the bottom of the stairs located next to Takasagoya hotel.

โฑ๏ธ Hours: 8 AM – 4 PM every day from April – September. 8 AM – 3 PM December – March

๐Ÿ’ฐ Cost: Cash, 300 yen per adult, cheaper for children

๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ Time: It took us less than an hour to go up the 1,000 steps! If you take more pictures and video, it may take you longer. The last entrance up is about 1-1.5 hours before closing

๐Ÿฆพ Drones: Not allowed

๐Ÿ‘Ÿ What to wear: No need for hiking shoes, just wear sneakers or sandals with grip especially if the ground is wet

๐Ÿก Food: There are shops with local food around the temple. Some shops close in the early afternoon before the temple goes.

๐Ÿ“ข Stay tuned as we explore a masterful yakitori gem next.

โ“Would you climb 1,000 steps for this view?
