“The Tokyo Toilet VIRTUAL TOUR” Tokyo Joe will take you to all 17 Tokyo Toilets in just 13 minutes

16 renowned architects and designers were invited from around the world to redesign 17 public restrooms in Shibuya. The restrooms are really creative and unique.

Many of them are futuristic, and some are nostalgic. I’ve never imagined how a simple public restroom could be so interesting .

I’ve visited all 17 Tokyo Toilets and have put together a virtual tour video for you. By watching this video you can virtually visit all 17 Tokyo Toilets in just 13 minutes.

So for travelers to Japan that are keen to visit the Tokyo Toilets, this video will be a great example. Even if you’re not traveling to Japan, this video will make you feel as if you were there.

I’ve ranked the restrooms according to my personal preference, and I hope that you’ll also find the ones that you like.

  1. Thank you for this video. Truly inspires me to add it in my bucket list when I visit Tokyo late October.

  2. Joe, outstanding! Thanks for making our upcoming trip, next week to Japan,
even more amazing. We will be visiting some of the toilets for sure. As I am a lover of architecture I don't believe I've ever seen such an an amazing assortment of structures dedicated to a bodily function! 😂😂 JP Porto

  3. 幡ヶ谷のトイレって、炎上してたところですね。女性専用のトイレがなくなりつつあります。デザインばかり重視して、女性に危ないトイレばかりつくっています。非常に危険ですね。

  4. Thank you Tokyo Joe. Who would have thought that a video of toilets in Tokyo could have been this interesting. I very much enjoy that 'extra yard' that you go to, in order that your videos are very much a work of art in themselves for us your audience. Hats off to you Sir.
I do remember some of these from the movie Perfect Days. You have me thinking that I'd like to watch the film (flick) once again. It really was so nicely done.
By the way, I have recommended your video to my friend in the UK. No doubt he will enjoy your style, content & presentation as much I do, and hopefully become a fan. 😉

  5. I love visiting Japan but the restrooms! They usually don't have paper towels or an air dryer for your hands!!!

I know, I only, Japanese people usually carry a small towel to dry their hands. I know the Japanese don't want any litter but no towels or hand dryers is kind of kind of odd…….no?

  6. Thank you for the video. I’m getting ready to go to Tokyo in 10 days. Definitely we’ll visit Shibuya. I used to live in Satagaya (50 years ago!!), it will be interesting to see how Shibuya has changed! Thanks again.

  7. I will be visiting Japan in the Spring to see my daughter, and this is a question that's been on my mind. Thank you for making this video. I am now a new subscriber and look forward to watching more tips that you may have for visiting Japan.
