Kobe Bryant (1978–2020) was a renowned American basketball player who spent his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers. Known for his exceptional skills, he won five NBA championships, was an 18-time All-Star, and earned numerous accolades, including the 2008 NBA MVP and two NBA Finals MVP awards. Despite a brief scandal in 2003 and injuries towards the end of his career, Bryant’s legacy remained strong. He retired in 2016, and the Lakers retired both his jersey numbers. Bryant’s impact extended beyond basketball; he won an Academy Award for his animated short film, Dear Basketball. Tragically, he died in a helicopter crash in 2020, which led to widespread tributes and the renaming of the All-Star MVP Award in his honor.
