The Hypocentre spot of Atomic Bomb which fell on Hiroshima

On our Japan trip we stayed in the City of Hiroshima. Very lovely city with really nice and friendly and respectful people all over. I visited the Peace Memorial Park along with the Museum to witness first hand the recorded accounts, stories, photographs and some actual pieces from the city which show and tell the horrific scenes which played out. I knew there was a site of a memorial stone which was doen a quiet side street near the peace park which was the hypocentre of the bomb’s fireball, so it was important for me to visit this and pay my respects also. I felt it important to read this out and record this on camera, since I believe it is everyones duty to try to understand the horrors of war and how to never repeat what had gone before.

Hiroshima has been seared into our minds through the history books under some very dark days because it was the first time in human history that an atomic bomb has been used in wartime against a population. At 8.15am on the 6th August 1945, atomic bomb which was dropped from the United States of America against Japan by a B29 bomber aircraft, named the Enola Gay, exploded around six hundred metres (around two thousand feet) above the city of Hiroshima, killing instantly, tens of thousands of people, and injuring many more and ultimately killing tens of thousands more people due to radiation exposure throughout the subsequent years.
