400-year-old shop’s Japanese spice mix? – A Local’s Secret Tokyo Day Trip Vlog

In this vlog, I’m taking you on a super local day trip as a Tokyoite. I’m heading to this super old store that’s been around for 400 years to grab some authentic Japanese spice blends (Shichimi).

Did you know Tokyo used to be a city full of canals? It’s not super well-known, but I’m taking a boat ride through one of them to get around. And of course, I’ll be trying some of Tokyo’s most iconic foods along the way!

  3. I love going to shops selling plates, and kitchen equipment. I seldom buy things, because I have too many things already!
Every time I go to Daiso here (in Australia) I like to look at the small plates!
I really enjoyed watching the video of you travelling around Tokyo! I was there around 1998, for about 6 months working (Tokyo and Yokohama). I really enjoyed my time there, and have been wanting to go back for a real holiday! I miss the food so much!

I cook Katsudon all the time. I will need to get some Shichimi to try with it!
