The 2018 Japan Cultural Exchange Festival was held from March 24th ~ 26th at Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi. The festival is to celebrate the friendship and partnership of 45 years between Japan and Vietnam.
The Japanese Embassy gifted Vietnam with over 10,000 sakura (cherry blossom) branches and over 30 cherry blossom trees.
Besides the cherry blossoms, the park and surrounding areas were covered in all types of local Vietnamese flowers and bonsai trees.
The event also featured Yosakoi, a fusion style of traditional Japanese dance and modern music.
And at a nearby pavilion area were a bunch of street food vendors selling Japanese and Vietnamese festival foods. There was also a mixture of Korean street foods for some reason.
Honestly, the Japanese food represented at the festival was very weak. There wasn’t enough variety of authentic Japanese festival foods, and the food that was for sale was expensive and didn’t taste that great.
