Today, in Sawara, there are still many warehouse-style merchant houses built from the late Edo period to the early Showa period, mainly along the Onogawa River. In particular, there are still soy sauce breweries at the docks known as “Dashi” that remain along the Onogawa River.
Many traditional buildings still exist today, creating a retro atmosphere, such as storehouse-style merchant houses, old Japanese-style private houses, earthen storehouses, and Western-style buildings. Sawara is the best scenic spot for those who like buildings that retain the Edo period atmosphere.

【小江戸 佐原】
現在も佐原には、小野川沿いを中心にして、江戸時代末期から昭和時代前期に建てられた蔵造りの商家が今もたくさん残っています。特に小野川沿いに残っている「だし」といわれる船着き場には、現在も醬油醸造店などがあります。
蔵造の商家、古い日本建築の民家、土蔵、洋風建築などレトロな雰囲気を醸し出し、さまざまな伝統建築物が今も数多く現存しています。佐原は江戸情緒を残す建物が好きな方には最高の絶景スポットです。
