its japanese local ingredients of course but that really reminds me a HECK of a lot of the sorts of things we forage and hunt here in colorado. although we have Elk and Mule Deer which seem to be much larger than the stuff theyre hunting up there from my reading. There is a global familyhood among people who live in high mountains. we can feel the similiarities with one another even through the internet. Those people are my soul brothers and sisters. that really is a wonderful area.
although i will say im envious of snack stations with cheese tarts, we sure dont have that here in colorado LOL

also the meat set looks amazing. we have western breeds all over colorados mountains and we devour a lot of it, but that japanese rancher craftsmanship is aces, and the way its branded and informatively shared is so friggin cool.

holy crap i just looked up shinshu wagyu availability in the usa and theres only 300 head imported annually and you basically have to buy half or a whole carcass LOL. man you get ALL the goodies!

We hiked up Mount Takao in November and it was exhausting, I can't imagine doing it in the summer heat lol. Worth it for the dango, though!
Been to Takao-san a few times. Never ate at the beer garden though. Maybe next time.
My trip to Takao San included running up and down 3 times using different trails since it is not really hard ascent. Sadly it was March so none of the food was available aside from dango.

My friend loves to go Japan every year just to go mountain hiking. I'd love to go on a hike but a bit weary, this one looks very accesible and friendlier with great food at the end. I'll try this place the next time I visit Japan

Shizuka!!!!!!! Another great adventure… I miss Japan, the people, and the food and the ice cold BEER!!!!!!!!!! Everyday after work, there was a great adventure to explore!
The main food attraction of Mt. Takao are the varieties of Soba. I'd prefer to have lunch at 清流亭 or 琵琶屋. There is also a small Monkey Park uphill – always fun to watch the hierachy within the "clan". You can also see Shijuku ward or even Mt. Fuji at clear weather conditions. For railway nerds: If you chose Takao San Guchi (Keio Line) for destination, the last stage is a single track which is quite unique. (additional info: To avoid rubbish, there are no trash bins.)
