Recommended Japanese Cat Island : A Beautiful Secret with Stunning Sea Views and Cats

With the COVID-19 pandemic gradually subsiding, are you ready to plan your travels? If you are a cat lover and don’t want to miss Japan’s beautiful sea views, this place is perfect for you—Manabeshima, a healing cat island in Japan’s Seto Inland Sea! This small island has few residents, offering a very leisurely atmosphere. Not only can you play with cats here, but you can also enjoy the beautiful Seto Inland Sea. Most importantly, compared to other Japanese cat islands, there are very few tourists here, so it hasn’t suffered much human destruction. Like a hidden paradise, you can freely enjoy the pleasure of being surrounded by cats and beautiful scenery! Let’s explore with the editor~

On that day, the editor took a boat from Kasaoka Port and, after a forty-minute journey, finally arrived at the lovely cat island. Once you get off the boat, you are greeted by a row of retro Japanese buildings.

We followed our professional cat guide through a few streets, encountering many cats along the way who actively rubbed against people.

The cats here are very friendly. It’s recommended to buy some cat food before setting off to win over these little cuties (there is no cat food or snacks sold on the island). However, the island’s residents also feed the cats, so you don’t need too much! The combination of the retro fishing village scenery and playing with cats is perfect for taking beautiful photos.

The editor leisurely walked along the island’s coast, unconsciously spending an entire afternoon. The sea here is a clear blue-green, and watching the cats walk along the fishing village coast is truly poetic!

If you have the chance to travel to the Chugoku (Okayama, Hiroshima, Tottori, Shimane, Yamaguchi) or Shikoku regions of Japan, why not spend half a day visiting nearby Manabeshima? The atmosphere here is leisurely and simple, and you’ll be surrounded by countless cute cats, as if in paradise. Come here and let the cats heal your body and mind!
