This is “JTB’s Video 8 Magazine #2: Guam Saipan” (SRWW8939), a 1991 Japanese video instructional & informational travel guide to the islands of Guam and Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands produced by the Japan Travel Bureau and sold on Sony’s Video 8mm video tape format.

Over the course of this video, you’ll be given an overview of how to travel to both Guam & Saipan where you’ll learn about what to expect in the process, options to consider, possible hazards, etc. You’ll also be shown sightseeing locations and entertainment (such as clubs), in addition to being taught valuable tips such as how to hail a taxi.

  1. During this time, Japan was experiencing an unusually prosperous economy due to the bubble economy, and overseas travel was booming.

    In Japan, a trip to Hawaii has long been the dream vacation of ordinary people, but trips to nearby Guam were also popular as a more affordable way to experience the resort atmosphere.

    As you can see in the video, it seems like the perfect destination for young people to travel.
