Fukuoka hiking! I climbed Mt. Fukuchi (福智山) to see the sunrise, a 600 year old cherry blossom tree (Toraozakura), and Shiraito waterfall.
Mt. Fukuchi 900.8m, Nogata city, Fukuoka prefecture, Japan, April 1, 2019, shot on GoPro Hero7 Black 4K
I got up at 3:30am like an April fool and climbed Mt. Fukuchi (Aganokoshi course) to watch the sun rise. I wanted to try out my new headlamp (Petzl Tikkina). It was very good. I came down on the Shiraitotaki course making a detour to see the famous 600 year old cherry blossom tree, Torao. Great hike!

ACCESS
Agano trail head on google maps:
Car: car parking a short walk from the trail head.
Public transport: TBH it’s a little tricky. This website (Japanese) explains in detail:
Basically, from JR Nogata train station (直方駅) you need to change to the Heiseichikuhoutetsudo (平成筑豊鉄道) train and get off at 赤池駅. From there, there is a bus stop (赤池駅前バス停) where you can catch a free bus (福祉バス) that goes to 上野峡入口, which is the bus stop nearest (8 min walk) to the trail head.
