BHUTAN SHOCKED ME… Join us as we explore the captivating and unexpected wonders of Bhutan! In this video, Sophia and I begin our adventure early in the morning, dressed in traditional Bhutanese attire, ready to take a short domestic flight to the town of Bumthang. We arrived at a cultural festival, encountering colourful masks, vibrant dances, clowns, and intriguing local customs, including the unique and surprising phallic symbols that left us both amazed and a bit bewildered.

Watch as we navigate through the festival, interact with locals, and experience the unique traditions that make Bhutan so special. From the bustling markets to the sacred mask dances, every moment is a blend of awe and cultural discovery. We also enjoy a local meal in a traditional Bhutanese home, offering a true taste of Bhutanese hospitality.

Stay tuned till the end for an intense festival performance that nearly turns into a brawl! Bhutan’s cultural richness, the clowns, and the warmth of its people truly shocked and delighted us. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more travel adventures.

  1. Considering a journey to Bhutan? 🇧🇹 I highly recommend choosing Mercury Bhutan https://mercurybhutan.com/ as your travel partner. They ensured our trip was exceptional from start to finish. Let them know you saw our video for special treatment ❤

  2. I apologize for what the atsara did to you guys , yes it is part of our culture but theese atsara's were over doing it and I have never seen atsara's act this much disgustingly back in my remote village nor in all of the Tshetsu and festival I've attended so far so I feel deeply guilty for the moment you went through as a Bhutanese

  3. When you are coming in Bhutan again please visit Trashi Yangtse next time but in winter.

  4. The imitation from red plallus eliminates all bad lucks and blesses you with long life and prosperity.
Thank you for the video, much love 🧡

  5. 😂I think I have watched your previous videos on Bhutan 🇧🇹. People complaining about the behavior of the clowns as unacceptable. A few points to consider is that in the old times, it was worse and people took it lightly. The Divine madman spread his form of Buddhism through se x . ( The Divine Madman by Keith Dowman) 😂 People getting all stoked about it should take a chill pill.

  6. In Bhutanese culture, the phallus symbol holds religious significance and is believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck and fertility. The atsaras incorporate phallic symbols and gestures into their performances as a form of playful and irreverent behavior meant to entertain the audience and challenge social norms. This tradition is deeply rooted in Bhutanese folklore and is seen as a way to infuse humor and lightheartedness into the festival atmosphere. The atsaras' playful interactions with phallic symbols are not meant to be offensive but rather to celebrate cultural beliefs and traditions in a light-hearted and entertaining manner.

  7. With comments filling about the significance of the red mask Atsara and how you guys are blessed, i still feel bad about him making you guys uncomfortable especially Sophia. You guys are our guest and I think your guide or the driver should have given you guys some heads up about the atsaras and about the phallus culture. But as a Bhutanese myself, these things are very common in our festivals so the guide might not have taken it seriously. Either way i hope both of you enjoy your stay here in Bhutan. ❤

  8. The temple is so beautiful , love to see people are singing and dancing , the guy with mask is so funny, very interesting festival thank you for sharing

  9. Don't lie.
    Everything appears clearly.
    There is nothing beautiful.
Even the poorest African country is more beautiful than this.
    Houses, roads, cities are neglected.
There is nothing to see and see.
    A primitive life is lived.
People are made to pretend that they are very happy in the primitive life they live. The most boring in the world The most neglected country.

  10. Though it's uncomfortable for women but please don't take in negative way , The Atsara do uncomfortable things n naughty things , so that to make us uncomfortable and shy to purify our bad deeds,Sins , If we understand it well,u it's a blessing from them . Atsara is the Enlighten mad one to make us laugh feel uncomfortable in his own Way to serve for sentient beings to stay happy and positive life, it's a Atara culture to do such things in order to subdue demons outside or inside ours in thr own ways , it depends on how we understand n believes please don't take it in a negative . It is okay for U to feel uncomfortable unknowingly
