If you want amazing photos of Osaka Castle without the crowds, then you need to know about this secret location 👀

Nishinomaru Garden is located before the main entrance to the Osaka Castle complex and is skipped by most tourists! We saw so few other people when we went, despite the castle itself being so busy and with massive queue for entry 😳

There are signs at the entrance that tell you that this is just a garden and there is no access to the castle, which seems to turn most people away 😱 for a nominal entry fee (¥200, which is approximately 1,30€ or US$1.40) you get entry to the entire garden area, where you can meander and discover different viewpoints of Osaka Castle 🤩 my personal favourite was this most perfectly placed bench, which would be such a great spot to sit and read for a moment 📖

There are various ruins of the castle throughout the gardens, as well as a former guesthouse (Osaka Geihinkan) that now operates as a restaurant and event venue. The architecture is beautiful, and it’s definitely worth a visit when you’re in the garden! There is also a tea house in the garden, although sadly it isn’t open to the public.

During the festive season the garden hosts a beautiful illumination 💡 and in spring over 600 cherry blossom trees burst into bloom! 🌸

Have you been to Osaka yet? Did you visit the castle? 🏯🇯🇵
