On this Cruise Ship day tour, you will journey into the heart of Aomori, discovering the area’s rich history and local culture. Begin your adventure with a visit to the spectacular Seiryu-ji Temple, home to Japan’s largest seated Buddha. The monumental bronze Buddha sits surrounded by the incredible and historic architecture of the temple. Take in the 70-foot tall, 220 ton Buddha. Make sure to visit the museum inside the Buddha. The entrance is on the back side of the Buddha.

In the 2nd part of the tour, you’ll visit Nebuta House, also known as “Wa Rasse. ” Here, you’ll view the award-winning floats from the Nebuta Festival. The Nebuta Festival is a summer festival that takes place in the Aomori prefecture and is one of the largest celebrations in the region. See beautiful painted screens depicting maidens, mythological figures, and other cultural themes.
Walk from the ship:
If you you want to go on your own, you can walk to the Aomori Visitor Center, A-FACTORY (shopping), and the Nebuta House Museum from the ship.

Hirosaki Castle
Distance from Port of Amori: 1 hour by car, 1.5 hours by train
Hirosaki developed as a castle town for the 100,000 koku Hirosaki Domain ruled by the Tsugaru clan. The city is currently a regional commercial center, and the largest producer of apples in Japan.[2] The city government has been promoting the slogans “Apple Colored Town Hirosaki” and “Castle and Cherry Blossom and Apple Town” to promote the city image. The town is also noted for many western-style buildings dating from the Meiji period.
