The city of Nagaoka has a history of being destroyed by fire twice, once during the Boshin War and again during World War II. And every time I visit, I wonder how it is that Nagaoka Station is located on the ruins of the main castle of Nagaoka Castle, and it is rare to see such a ruin of the castle.
