welcome to inside Japan this week we’ll be taking a look at lake único and you talk you waterfall in Upper Nikko while the leaves haven’t started changing colors where we lit at the upper areas of Nikko are about one mile above sea level and they are looking quite lovely right now and should continue to do so for the next couple weeks making this the most beautiful time of year to visit the area’s mountainous and sparsely populated and as such the roads are narrow and parking can be hard to come by during the busiest times we recommend leaving quite early in the morning so as to avoid traffic congestion and enjoy easy parking as well lake Conoco is located just north of the senjo kajada marsh area it was formed about 20,000 years ago with the eruption of mountain on time the first Kanji character of lake you know co you doc you waterfall and you moto hot springs resort means hot water the perimeter of the lake is a little under 2 miles and makes for a nice walk the west end of the lake is the furthest from traffic and is quite tranquil the lake offers many beautiful views and has no shops or stands to ruin the atmosphere the water overflowing from the south end of the lake creates utaki waterfall the water then continues down to dragon head Falls and lake chuzenji as the you Kawa river there is ample parking available at the base of the waterfall which costs about $5 this area has easy access to a viewing platform at the base of the falls as well as a convenience store the vending machines and some more traditional Japanese fare there is also some free parking available by the lake the stairs down are a breeze but the trip back up could leave you winded the water from the Falls can leave some spots a bit slippery so watch your step that’s all for today thank you for watching this has been inside Japan [Music] [Music]
