hello fellow Japan Travelers today we’re going to be looking at important updates and essential information to help you plan your Japan trip including awesome new and upcoming attractions you shouldn’t Miss so take note and consider subscribing to help me continue making content like this and let’s start planning if you use the midino mcci ticket windows at stations in Tokyo previously Jr East had actually been cutting the number of ticket offices open to promote e ticketing and had reduced them from 440 to 209 since 2021 however Jr will now temporarily reopen ticket counters at 15 stations in Tokyo and nearby areas during Peak Travel periods such as the auon holiday and at the end of the fiscal year this decision comes after long lines and customers complaining during busy times and to make it even easier for travelers who want to use the service during peak times those of you on iPhone have had access to digital speaker cards for Transit and payment such as the digital streer via the Apple wallet for some time but have sometimes complained of the international credit cards not working but coming spring 2025 Jr East will launch a welcome Saker mobile app allowing travelers to use a digital Saker card on their iPhones with this new app aiming to have better compatibility linked to your foreign credit cards via Apple pay on the note of IC cards the popular visitor version of pasmo called the pasmo passport has been discontinued this card Which is popular because of the cute San Rio characters will no longer be available however Travelers with the team Japan can get other IC cards such as the welcome sua or the normal sua or one of the many other IC card versions available across Japan depending on what region of Japan you’re in we cannot shy away from the fact that Japan faces a surch in strep totoal toxic shock syndrome stss cases with over 1,000 reported since January 2024 surpassing the 1999 record how ever alarming the media makes this out to be probably because of its catchy headlines it’s important to note that although on the rise this is not considered a risk for travel remember that once you travel you should maintain good hygiene and regularly wash your hands with soap and water especially before eating or touching your face make sure that you treat wounds properly if needed and try to boost immunity before travel always stay informed and follow local Health advisories and check with your country’s travel recommendations just a short side note consider using my affiliate link with Sakura mobile to get your pocket Wi-Fi or data Sim it will help you stay connected whilst in Japan and it’s one of my top travel tips you’ll get a great product trusted by the ninja monkey Community whilst at the same time helping the channel out too okay back to the video Japan is cheaper than ever the Yen cross the 160 Mark against a dollar for the first time since 1986 meaning that Travelers can now enjoy Japan’s Rich culture Cuisine and shopping at more affordable prices with the currencies stretching further tourists can indulge in more experiences but this also comes with a warning Japan’s popularity is being boosted even further and with more Japanese tourists staying in the country and more tourism arrivals this means Hotel occupancy is up and things are obviously more crowded my personal suggestion is to try to include 40 to 50% of your trip away from the Golden Triangle which is made up of Tokyo Osaka and Kyoto to help you still tick the main sites but also help to get away from the crowds and have a more unique trip too you might want to check out some of my alternative veterinaries to get some ideas the influx of visitors also means that some locations are rethinking the way that locals and tourists are charged this is something that I keep on covering and looking more likely like the reality that we cannot escape the latest example being from hu’s mayor who is proposing raising himu Castle’s entry fee for foreign tourists from 1,000 yen to 4,800 Yen over 4 times what the price is now he believes that the current fee is too low for overseas visitors especially with the weekend and booming tourism his proposal awaits approval at the agency of cultural Affairs also hot on the heels of kawaguchiko who blocked the view of Lawson and Fuji starting 2026 tourists will face a new proposed accommodation tax too I understand that the yen is weak but this for me leaves a bad taste in my mouth one of the reasons why I love Japan so much is because tourists have been being treated as guests and welcomed with opened arms Japan has never felt like a location that is tourist first like other Asian countries is this a start of a new wave and a change in tourism product that Japan has to offer I’m really interested to know what your thoughts are on this one I often recommend a trip to Niko to help you escape crowds and even further a trip into its nature so this one has really taken me by surprise Kegan Falls in Niko which is a popular day trip for tourists and is known as one of Japan’s great waterfalls is facing a startling drought despite above average rainfall this year normally fering with 1 to 2.5 tons of water per second it now trickles sadly to 0.1 or 0.3 tons tourists arriving are disappointed and businesses are struggling and hopes hinge on the lake recovery before peak season it’s important to note that day trip to Niko is still a great day out and the lake is still peaceful and beautiful but Kegan fall was always an area that I love to visit and stay overnight at I hope that things recover soon are you flying from Kanai airport well did you know that Kanai International Airport in Osaka celebrates 30 years without losing a single bag winning top honors in baggage handling at the World Airport Awards humbl to with workers saying we don’t feel like we’ve been doing something special new upand Coming Attractions and things to check out some people might shy away from Sami in Japan because of the Heat and the humidity but I’ve always said that there’s always seem to be more going on during the summer season so here are some upcoming events or attractions you should either check out or get excited for even if you’re not traveling during the summer the Tokyo Sky Tree will shine in Pokémon colors all summer celebrating a collaboration with Pokémon Horizons featuring theme elevators a special video program and exclusive merchandise plus visits from Captain Pikachu check out the illuminations from June the 25th to September showcasing Pokémon themed colors continuing with a Pokémon theme this summer Japan will enjoy 75 Pokémon themed Oto crackers by mod Naga featuring characters like Pikachu and new additions exclusive types are linked to different flavors and special packaging and a digital art card feature for collectors I think I found the perfect souvenir to myself want even more unique Pokémon treats then you might want to check out some Pokémon themed summer traditional wagashi sweets experience the Perfect Blend of tradition and pop culture with Kyoto Shin kundo 159 year old confet shop which this summer have unveiled a new line of Pokémon inspired sweets to help you beat the heating style these limited edition suets are available at Tokyo and Kyoto locations and their online store too MacDonald’s Japan is teaming up with Kiki’s Delivery Service for new Burgers inspired by European Cuisine these limited time offerings include the German potato thick beef peperoncino juicy hot chicken and bulab Bas style shrimp available Nationwide from June the 26th to the end of July which one would you choose if you’re a fan of gibli or like collecting stamps in Japan then studio gibli and Tokyo Metro have joined forces for a summer stamp rally featuring an adorable cup bus sticker prize you can collect stamps from five stations across Tokyo’s Metro Network to win one of 7,000 limited edition stickers the rally runs from June the 13th to July the 15th so you better start stamping soon something that feels that should be happening during Halloween but instead will be happening in summer you can ride a zombie train in NCO promising 90 minutes of Frights as passengers ride along with the undead running 9 days from June to September it departs from sudo station and Omama stations and the E experience aims to boost tourism with fair starting at 3,500 Yen for adults I’m quite excited about this one because the life-size gandam robot statue is returning this time in Osaka at the Expo 2025 showcasing a needeing rx78 model symbolizing a reach towards a future and space exploration the 16 M tool installation will feature nightly illuminations continuing its Legacy from Yokohama I visited the one in Yokohama and even as somebody who is not a fan of the anime I totally enjoyed the experience and now I’m super excited for for this one so there you have it the latest Japan updates for travelers and tourists knowing this information along with new attractions in Japan will help you plan your perfect Japan trip and if not have you excited for an upcoming one I’m actually going to be traveling across Japan throughout the month of July in August so come along for the ride and explore with me on my second channel the happy gin where I will be often streaming from the streets of Japan stay positive and be a happy ging thanks for watching save travels bye bye [Music]

  1. I didn’t know about Kegon Falls! Won’t stop me from visiting, but I’ll be visiting in October so that’s still a couple of months away.
And upping prices for tourists isn’t going to make them stop coming, but it will probably make them think again about visiting certain attractions if tourists have to pay a lot more to get in so what does that even achieve? 🤷🏻‍♀️

  2. biggest issue we had as new travellers to tokyo? tap in/tap out. this is probably the number 1 reason you have to go to ticket counters to get suica cards fixed cuz they're 'br ok en'.

  3. As to the second issue you bring up, STSS. It really has more to do with the local citizens of tokyo than travellers. c'mon people, wash your hands!

  4. I'm also traveling to Japan from the end of July to August.
I'm very excited, it's my second time in the country 😁

  5. The castle being 4,000 ¥ is definitely reaching, especially if it’s targeting one category of people. It’s not the welcome feeling I’m accustomed when visiting Japan.

  6. saw Kegon waterfalls in 2019, the tour group didnt bring us to the bottom but it was a nice place to visit

  7. To be fair,… JNTO and JR are completely different,.. one is a government bureaucracy which does as it is told, the other is a group of private companies. I simply don't like all the foreign tourists now,… this is beyond crazy. For virus, dengue is always a problem … www!! for Himeji Castle,… the usual name for it is 白い鷺 but then the walls were cleaned and it became too white so it was now called 白いつぎ! … anyway, Ghibli seems ok but it is nothing compared to Tezuka Osama's work.

  8. Is that mobile suica pass coming to android as well finally? Or is it still an iphone thing? Cause that's very disappointing.

  9. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Japan tourism hasn't yet eclipsed the numbers in 2018. It seems that the areas that are overcrowded are all the same places that influencers tell people to go.

  10. 48,000 yen for a castle visit = LOL . seen one castle you,ve seen em all, glad ive seen all the major ones on previous visits because theres no way on earth id pay that much for a quick visit, maybe if they threw in a free 3 course traditional lunch and craft beer with the deal lol. *50,000 yen would be my absolute maximum daily food and drink budget on my next trip, but thats just because hotels and flights are all almost doubled since last time i visited which means i have to be a lot more frugal next time i visit

  11. hey i will be going to japan soon can you tell me where i can the best exhcnage rate for japanese yen is

  12. Absolutely incredible update 🎉Ninja , yeah for the first time ever I was able to get more than 100 yen for every au dollar, it's hard to believe at one point I only received 65 yen , what a difference, I just got back from Tokyo it was lovely and warm, last 2 days were to hot , look forward to your travels 🧳 soon

  13. My wife and I will be there in a week for the 4th time in 20 months and most of our destinations are away from the main cities.

  14. Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, World Expo in osaka, now witht he Gundam and supposedly also a Macross pavillion. I'm so hyped for my vacation next year!

  15. Another informative video for the tourist traveler to Japan. By a frequent traveler who travels to Japan, as a tourist multiple times a year. He doesn't live in Japan, but he is up to date on the latest happenings that may affect tourists planing to visit Japan. I come to this channel because Ninja Monkey san keeps me updated on all the things I need to know to make my tourist experience the best it can be. Like and subscribe for great content.

  16. Oh no, its sad about Nikko. But i was still thinking about visiting for the fall foliage. Hopefully next years rain season is better for Japan!
And omg i would totally ride that zombie train!
    Thanks for all your videos!

  17. I live in JP with my children and your video are fully packed with great information. Love love love it ❤

  18. I am excited for a future trip. Maybe 2026. I feel like the raise of tourism fees is not only the many many people coming but the reports about unruly tourists. I.e the mt fuji view. My opinion but I've never been there. 2026 goal

  19. you have been able to use Suica on your iPhone for many years and now it is even easier..you just find it in travel cards in your Apple wallet and top up with Apple Pay. So don’t know why you say you have to wait until 2025?? I had t on my iPhone in 2019 already with no problems.

  20. It is not the tourists' fault that the Japanese government went into debt for 30 years and now the yen is cheaper.
