hello this is Renee and Tom and I are on the ultimate World cruise and we just docked in Naples Italy Tom and I are going to explore some of the most iconic historical sites the city has to offer this is the view at 6:00 in the morning 2 hours before we dock we didn’t visit Pompei this time because we went there last year and you can watch that video here our view coming off the ship is this Castle the New Castle was built in 1279 and this medieval castle has served as a royal residence a fortress and now houses a museum and unfortunately it was closed for construction Tom and I thought we were taking a shortcut to cross the street but we ended up in a train tunnel and popped out on a different side of the street once we realized we were going the wrong direction we turned around the Venus of rag sculpture was installed in June 2023 this building is a public shopping gallery that was built between 1887 and 1890 our next stop is one of naval’s largest and most famous squares the public space was completed in 1816 and is surrounded by some stunning [Music] architecture including the royal palace and this magnificent building served as the residence of the Spanish and bourbon monarchs some of the key features include the grand Throne Room the Royal Chapel and a beautifully decorated Royal Apartments after the unification of Italy it became the residence for the House of seavoy and now houses the national library and a museum the inner Courtyard was just stunning The Royal Palace also had a great view we then took a stroll Town Chia Street where you’ll experience one of nab’s most elegant shopping areas it was led with boutiques cafes and historical buildings the monument to the Neapolitan Martyrs the four lions at the base each represent Neapolitan Martyrs from different historical periods the Fountain of giant was originally built in the 17th century and was next to the Royal Palace but has been since relocated several times the egg Castle is the oldest standing fortification in Naples dating back to the 12th century which was also closed for construction during our walk we did stop at McDonald’s for a quick drink but then we also stopped and got some local Cuisine more p we walked nearly 6 miles around Naples and there was so much more to see the evening’s entertainment was showcase Showtime Center Stage Royal Caribbean singers and dancers [Music] [Applause] [Music] recogn I [Music] my lonely days are over [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] find me somebody [Music] here is our itinerary for the next seven ports make sure to like subscribe and ring that Bell for more Adventures from every corner of the globe [Music]
