No.10 in my top 10 attractions in Hokkaido is Mount Hakodate Ropeway perfect place for a 360 degrees view of the beautiful city daytime is great but if weather permits night time is a good option too No.9 is taking a local train to Biei before taking the bus to the main attraction the famous Shirogane Blue Pond the man made pond is absolutely beautiful no filter needed for this serene spot Number 8 attraction is a hotel that has a good public onsen and buffet breakfast our favorites are Hotel Amanek Asahikawa and Manseikaku at Lake Toya after checking in we relax at the hotels two fantastics onsens more on this in my separate full hotel review No. 7 is Otaru Music Museum it’s amazing you get to see all the mesmerizing clockworks it has all kinds of music boxes and even the floor dedicated to Totoro No.6 is Kitaichi Glass Otaru famous for glass making and crafting here they have glasses of all shapes sizes and colors I saw an amazing glass that can change colors depending on the temperature of the drink top 5 is the famous Jigokudani or Hells Valley there is a hint of Sulphur in the air but that didn’t stop us from getting real up close with the gazes and tackling the trail around the national park we also enjoy a relaxing natural footbath in front of a waterfall at river Oyunuma No.4 Sapporo Beer Museum is an attraction not to be missed whether you are a beer drinker or not there are so many interesting artifacts you can feel the history and understand the process of beer making and marketing most importantly you get to do a beer tasting at the beautiful beer hall No.3 starting as rice farm Ueno Farm is now the most popular garden in the region to view all kinds of flowers trees and greens make sure you grab a map and follow the recommended route which takes at least 2 hours climb the small hill to reach the swing and also the rainbow chairs on the top of the hill my favorite spot is this magical gnome garden surrounded by the prettiest purple flowers this garden itself is already worth paying this place a visit such an amazing place not to mention all the other cool spots of this farm perfect for families in the beautiful summer season if you just want to take a slow No.2 is the unique world famous Star-shaped park called Goryokaku definitely recommend taking the local tram to the park you get to see Wisteria some native Japanese trees and the palace in the center of the park but you have to head up to the tower for the bird’s eye view of Star-shaped Fort and another 360 degrees view of the city such amazing landscaping and rich history our number one spot goes to Asahikawa Zoo the best zoo in Hokkaido and probably the best in Japan cost only 1,000 yen or around $10 we got there just in time for the feeding of two full grown fluffy artic polar bears followed by the feeding of the three playful seals I love it especially when they swim through the vertical glass so cute next door we have the Penguin House home to some emperor penguins and little penguins some other notable animals include the lazy king of the jungle some fat Japanese cat a super rare red panda clumsy but cute brown bear many cool birds two hippos doing something family of chilling flamingos super active gangs of monkeys and so much more our favorite is definitely the white gibbon they are so loud so quick and we are lucky to see them climbing all the way up to the top this zoo definitely exceeded our expectations what do you think?
