Hi everyone, welcome to the Travelplanify YouTube channel 😉 Currently, we are in front of a Chinese temple in Yokohama’s Chinatown. This is one of the three Chinatowns of Japan (the other two are in Kobe and Nagasaki) Yokohama’s Chinatown is the largest one among the other two. So, this narrow street will lead to the Chinatown market. This would be probably the entry gate of Chinatown. The Chinatown is about 160 years old. Population is around 3k to 4k. Around 250 Chinese-themed shops and restaurants are present here in a 3200 sq ft area. Most of the Chinese people here are the ones who migrated from China in 1859. American and British trading companies wanted to expand their operations in Yokohama. So, they sent Chinese agents here to trade raw silk, and tea with Japanese merchants. After the ferry service started between Yokohama and Shanghai, Hong Kong, more Chinese traders came to Japan. Enjoy the views of Chinatown. Thanks for watching the video up to here. We will see you in the next video. Please like, share, and subscribe for more upcoming videos.
