hello YouTube so if you’re anything like me and you like traveling to Japan and you like beer even a little bit one of the highlights when you sort of wondering looking around the shops uh exploring Japan is going into a 7-Eleven or a Lawson in a family Mark and seeing the bright glittering uh beer fridge section and all those really colorful exotic drinks and thinking wow uh where do I start which one do I try so I thought it’d be fun to take a look at as many of them as I can I’ve recently come back from a twoe Hol out there I’ve reviewed them I’ve made my notes and I thought why not just put them all together and put make as many of it as I can into like a big tier ranking list okay so I’ve got all the drinks I tried here uh I’m going to try ranking them first up I think it’s only right you start up with one of the big three which is Asahi uh sapo and kierin I think they’re the most uh famous probably the most popular beers in Japan um so first up I’m going to go with my least favorite of the three which is the Asa ey I’ve got my notes on it here which is that it’s got like a fairly sort of dry refreshing cool taste but um it’s just not the smoothest and it doesn’t have the like sort of the best follow-up aftertaste for me it’s it’s just sort of a bit M so I think that one for me is going in a C+ sort of upper C breaking into the B tier so I’ll move that one over okay so next up uh I’m going to go with kierin I think it’s not just one of my favorite Japanese beers I think it’s potentially one of my favorite beers it’s got like a pleasant mty taste uh very good aftertaste and I think it’s it’s it’s the best of the big three for me so that’s going straight in St a nice easy one there for the followup uh now during my holiday I was lucky enough to go to haido where they make sapo um and went to the brewery and everything and I had a chance to try regular sapo and also Sappo classic um and I think the sapo regular for me it never stood out as having the strongest taste but it was always Pleasant so I think the regular saparo for me is sort of hovering the B tier I think maybe lower a tier that’s like a quite Pleasant beer that’s no problem uh but for me the one that really impressed was the sapo classic um so I’m putting that above the sapo regular um which was lower a and then I’m putting it sort of upper a breaking into the S tier so very positive impression of saffro classic uh next up I’m going to go with grand time uh which I found a little bit quite similar to what you get in terms of a Fosters or a Carling back in the UK it’s sort of um smooth but it’s not really got the strongest taste it’s very clear and I I found it a little bit watery for me so I think there’s nothing terribly wrong with it but I just think that’s a classic going right in the sea it’s just doesn’t stand out as having a strong flavor and yeah there’s not too much to say about it really I think it’s just right in there as like a c now I know some people might be disappointed so far to see Asahi is one of the lowest rated but I mean you can’t expect too much from a brewery that installed a literal golden tur from the top of their building so I think you just have to take that one next up we’ve got premium yisu which some people I’ve I’ve heard is say one of the best one of the better beers you can get canned in Japan um from some of mates but I found it smooth and it’s got sort of a multi aftertaster Kieran but it’s not it’s just not quite as solid not quite as good in aftertaste as Kieran for me but I think that’s for me solid B+ breaking into at here I’d put premium yisu so next up here we’ve got centu the Brew um I found that quite clean quite crisp very easy to drink but it’s a bit tasteless I’d say it’s in the bracket of grand time in that it’s sort of not the strongest flavor but there’s nothing particularly wrong with it i’ maybe put it a bit Above Grand time I’d say that’s sort of a C+ like of of that tier I’d say it’s a bit better yeah so there you are that’s breaking into the C+ bracket so I’m moving on now from the sort of classic uh ordinary beers I’ve reviewed into slightly more broader colorful category of things that have sort of flavored beers or sort of maybe strictly you’d call them cocktails but they’re still Cann drinks and I think they’re quite interesting ones to try um uh so first up we’ve got the centu peak now the centu peach it’s only 3% it’s not the strongest beer or um it’s maybe more of a cocktail sort of flavor juice but I find it very sweet it’s very pleasant you can clearly like sort of taste the peaches coming through on it um and it’s just just got like a very solid sweet pleasant taste so not much too much to say about that I think that for me is very nice drink it’s certainly not beer but I think it’s going in in sort of the B+ category upper bees and next up we’ve got one of my very favorites which divides opinion but I love it you can get it sometimes in certain times of the year you can get it in the regular grocery markets or you can find it in Don kyote it’s the Takara lime flavored beer it’s something like 7% strong and it’s got a fantastic taste really tastes of lime it’s just lovely cold refreshing drink and when I first tried it I just couldn’t believe that you could be uh in the middle of like a capital city and get something so cheap so nice and I just wish it we had it back in the UK it’s just such a lovely tasting drink uh for me I know not everyone’s going to love this but it’s I for me it’s an S tier I think it’s one of my favorite drinks uh I just wish I could drink this all the time that’s going straight in the S tier uh so my advice for you would just be if you see that green beer with the lime on it with Takara get it if you can because it’s just really nice and next up I’m going to spoil it for you it’s my only entry in the D tier which is the Takara lemon beer I tried some of the other Takara beers and they just didn’t have the same the same charm as the lime that has such a nice taste and the lemon beer it’s very strong it is citrusy and you can taste the lemon in there but um yeah it’s it but it’s just not as nice it’s fizzy with a lemon taste it’s quite sharp and it’s it’s just a bit too sharp I think the sort of the aftertaste and the taste of the lemon is just not pleasant so that’s a swerve I think it’s just not as nice as the Takara lemon um and then finally to round this out I’ve got a couple of beers which I had the chance to bring back with me so uh so to make up the numbers a bit for this ranking list I brought two items actually back with me from my holiday to Japan um first one up I’ve got this apple looking drink made by Kieran um motai motan I’m not sure how you pronounce that um but I’m reliably informed by my English friend who lives in Japan that there’s nothing like cider or close to it that you can easily get so I’m expecting this to be quite similar to the Sor Peach drink in that it’s going to be peachy flavored but it’s more of a slightly alcoholic soft drink rather than tasting anything like cider so I’ll be very surprised if this tastes like cider but we’ll give it a go um the Apple’s definitely coming through it’s very pleasant quite sweet but I don’t think it’s quite as smooth with the easy after taste that the peach one has I’d say it’s May maybe it’s just like a preference thing but I think it’s maybe not quite as good as the peach I’d put that sort of the lower B upper C tier that one and next up now I know strictly I shouldn’t have this maybe because I’ve mostly been looking at ones you’d find in sort of the cold freezer section but I just had to I know it’s not quite the same as the others but it’s on icon it’s one cup sake I just had to give it a quick review just because it’s so cheap it’s so iconic and given it’s so hard to get Saki in this country I just love the fact that you can pick it up it comes in its own cup beverage holder that you can just tear off and immediately drink and it’s just so cheap and easy to get so I know people some people don’t like this as a sake but it’s so affordable at like 2300 Yen I just feel like I had to Chuck it into the list um so let’s give it a quick taste see I don’t think that’s bad for what it is for what they charge for it the 2300 Yen whatever it is and it’s just so easy to get you can just tear the lid right off and drink it I I quite like that and like I say it’s quite smooth and so I think just because it’s such an icon I’m giving it a higher score I I don’t think there’s anything particularly wrong with it as as a sake it’s not the nicest but it’s not the worst either I think it’s a solid easy to drink thing I’m putting it in the toying with low a tier but I think it probably should be somewhere in the B tier yeah so as discussed guys that’s the one cup sake going in sort of the upper beat here to round things out that just Lots right in and then you’ve got the Montana not quite as the PE nice as the peach it’s going in sort of the upper sea just there Above Grand time yeah and so there you have it guys that’s the complete list um I hope you enjoyed watching it as much as I did getting a chance to go to Japan and trial those beers um those are the ones I was most interested in and wanted to have a chance to try but I know I didn’t get them I certainly love to go back try all the others and then put up another ranking video but hope you found that all right and if you’ve got any thoughts please let me know and yeah cheers for watching guys thanks very much
