I will introduce four routes for climbing Mt. Fuji in descending order of distance. Climbing time is standard time. Mt. Fuji is a mountain located on the border between Shizuoka Prefecture on the sea side and Yamanashi Prefecture on the north side. The Gotemba route is the furthest from the summit, but is relatively empty. Fujinomiya route (south) 7 hours round trip, 4 hours 40 minutes climbing. The Fujinomiya route is the shortest, so it is popular and crowded. When climbing Mt. Fuji, it is important to avoid crowded days and times. The area near the top is busiest on weekends and before sunrise during Obon. Subashiri route (east) 9 hours 36 minutes round trip, 6 hours 2 minutes climbing The Subashiri route merges with the popular Yoshida route near the summit. The route for descending the mountain is different from the route for climbing, so be careful not to take the same route. Yoshida route (north) 11 hours 16 minutes round trip, 7 hours climbing This route is the busiest as it is a popular route with many mountain huts along the way. The route for descending the mountain is different from the route for climbing, so be careful not to take the same route. Gotemba route (east) Round trip 11 hours 6 minutes, ascent 7 hours 47 minutes The Gotemba route is not popular because there are few mountain huts along the way. Since it is far away, it will require the most physical effort. The mountain will never disappear, so if you feel unwell, don’t push yourself and go down the mountain. Be careful of altitude sickness, strong sunlight during the day, severe cold in the mornings and evenings, cold sweat during breaks, knee pain when descending, crowds, and traffic restrictions.
