hi everyone Alex here and today I’m going to tell you everything we did in Osaka ala over how we got there where we stayed and everything we did including a halfday trip to coob at the end of this video I will share a list of all the pins that I acquired during my research because on this channel we don’t gatekeep okay so getting there we flew into the Osaka kicks airport and from there you have a couple of options of how to get into the city you can take the Jr heruka Airport Express train to tanoi and that costs about ,700 again and will take 35 minutes if you don’t have a Jr pass there are two other airport lines that connect kicks with nas station first is the non Kai Airport Express which costs 920 Yen and takes about 45 minutes or there is the limited Express Rapido train which is spelled kind of crazy but it costs 1,00 to 1300 Yen and takes only 35 minutes because every seat on this train is reserved I think you need to buy a ticket at the counter ahead of time otherwise all other trains can be paid using the IC card on your phone we had no problem at all taking the Jr heruka Airport Express from the airport and then a few days later we took the nankai airport express to the airport and both were totally fine no complaints where we stayed there are a lot of neighborhood options in Osaka you can choose to say close to the Osaka Castle or in the Osaka Bay area near the aquarium in Universal Studios we considered the tanoi area for its more trendy Vibes or the K umaa area as the business district but we ultimately settled on the Minami area because it is the primary shopping and Entertainment District we like to be close to The Nightlife so saying and shin saashi was perfect for us we saved the cocoa hotel in shinsaibashi and it was close to the main coverage shopping area and then walking distance to the famous Don Bo Street and the America mura neighborhood that I really wanted to check out despite it being close to everything we actually felt like our imediate area was fairly chill and pretty quiet okay get out your Google Maps because we’re going to go over everything that we did first up across Mar Hotel was a popular onigiri spot called rice ball onigiri gor Chong we got the number one and the number two best sellers the salmon and then the beef and egg the oigi are huge compared to what you get at a convenience store and also remember that it is cash only a block away is the covered arcade that leads from shinai Bashi to doore there are tons of restaurants and shops on this street I know that I was itching to jump into a Second Street uh thrift store but before you know it you have run into the famous Running Man miral on a Saturday night this area was definitely chaotic and you’re going to have to fight a little bit to get the picture that you want we stopped over at a restaurant nearby called Johnny too Yaki to have some beers overlooking the scene with some great people watching we had dinner reservations at 9:15 so at this point we had some time to kill we walked along the tomori River Walk which was very nice we tried to get onto the donkey Hot feris Wheel but they were full for the day or maybe it was broken we’re not really sure what was happening we crossed the river and I led us through the hustle and bustle to a a place on Google maps called heni yokoo a street known for isaka and traditional food stalls we very quickly got sucked into a Rolling Stones theme bar called Fanny May that had Immaculate vibes from there we had a few cocktails at a pub down the street called Pub cabasa it’s a really nice cozy quiet little bar from there we went to our dinner reservation at this restaurant a Sukiyaki and Shabu Shabu place my friend saw this place on Tik Tok and she said that it was one of the best meals she’s ever had in her entire life so of of course we had to check it out it was a little bit hard to find it’s on the third floor and you have to look for this sign outside the main door then you know you found it they prepare the meat for you at the table and our Chef was really helpful at explaining what he was doing and how we should eat it you dip everything in raw egg which goes against 30 years of my upbringing but it was so good if you want to try this place i’ make a reservation as soon as possible because I made it a week in advance and 9:15 was the only time slot that I could get for dinner this area is obviously famous for nightlife and everything that there is to do here and we really enjoyed walking around and just absorbing the energy of it all there are so many things to do and so many restaurants trying to grab your attention it’s a little bit overwhelming but in that wonderfully unique Japanese City type of way the next day we bought the Osaka Metro pass which cost 620 Yen per person because we had a lot of things to see first up we went to the Osaka Castle this is super easy to get to on the Metro and from the station it’s like a 20-minute walk through the parking Gardens the complex is huge and there there were a lot of people there enjoying the grounds and sampling different food stalls there’s a nice view of the city and lots of different viewpoints of the castle to see we did not go inside but instead walked around it and behind it which turned out to have a pretty great view next to this bridge from there we took the metro to the tooji area you may recognize it from this giant puffer fish which unfortunately no longer exists also known for the giant Tower which can be seen from all over and is lit up at night there are a lot of restaurants in shops here as well but it feels a little bit sleepy compared to the Minami area it seems like there is a local effort to revive it a bit and we saw that when we walked through the shinsekai market about half the Stalls were open and we got drinks at this fun little stand called shinsekai kako we also stopped at a pringle store to get some fun flavors for our friends and grabb some bean paste sweets from this little store near the tower those bean paste that tastes like bananas mhm that’s thick from there I wanted to walk North through denden town or Osaka’s electric Town often compared to Tokyo’s Aki bahara but a bit cheaper we’re not really big on video games or anime so we really just walk through it but I know that there are people who could spend hours here this Main Road took us to the kuraman market which has tons of street food we got a stick of Kobe beef and well I know everyone will find this tempting it was not worth it there’s lots of vendor selling Kobe beef and if you think it’s cheap cheap than it probably is these four pieces were 2500 Yen and the flavor was good but it was pretty chewy I would wait to splurge in coob trust me besides that we really enjoyed walking around this whole area there’s definitely so much to look at we grabbed some okona Miyaki for a weird late lunch early dinner and then went back to shinai Basi for a nap because we’re in our 30s now and don’t travel like we used to in the evening we ventured out to the American Moran neighborhood a few blocks away we stopped by by the PC and retro bar space station that’s a bar filled with old video games we spent a few hours here and met a really nice guy from Denver who been solo traveling for a couple of weeks he hadn’t been to karaoke yet so of course we were like we all need to go to karaoke together right now we ended up at this place down the street it’s a chain called jenara they have the usual private rooms and all you can drink packages so naturally we were out till 3:00 a.m. because of that we got a late start the next day but we went to a street we’d seen earlier called The Cafe Street it has just a few restaurants but we couldn’t resist the fluffy pancakes we saw on the menu at Cafe MOG Namba they were just what my body needed around 3:30 in the afternoon we made our way to coob there are tons of trains that connect coob with Osaka and it can take anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes depending on where you’re coming from we didn’t get there till close to 4:30 in the afternoon and I was a little bit worried that we wouldn’t have enough time there but while it did feel a little bit rushed I think we still managed to get a lot done from the train station we walked to the chinat Tower I’d say that it’s a pretty small area but it’s packed with shops and restaurants we’ve been craving soup dumplings ever since we went to Taiwan so we definitely had to grab some of those while we were there and they were very good and then will also got a nice bow bum for one of the vendors there it’s a really great place to walk around I would definitely recommend it there’s great energy there right next to that is a big covered shopping arcade at around 536 a lot of the shops were closing but we were able to sneak into a couple good vintage clothing stores as well as a print shop in a stationary store we walked to the coob Waterfront area which is where you can find the classic Viewpoint of coob we took a ride on the ferris wheel to get a better View and while there were some shops and restaurants in the area itself it was pretty quiet at least on a Monday night from there we rode the train back to the train station at coob to find some dinner when we were walking from the train station earlier we noticed this one street that looked like it’d be a really good spot to get food there are so many places to get Kobe beef obviously and I read online that you really can’t go wrong with anything near the train station we tried to get into this one restaurant because I think I read somewhere that they was really good or got really good reviews but we tried a few doors down and they were able to seat us right away we got the set meals that come with soups and salads this is definitely a time to splurge we got the least expensive cuts of meat and it was still phenomenal like world’s better than the beef on a stick that we had in Osaka eating coob and coob 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend after dinner we grabbed the Jr line back to Osaka although I could definitely see us spending the night there if we went there there again the next morning we had to grab the early train back to the airport there’s definitely still more we’d like to do and eat in the city so I will leave my list of recommendations right here for you guys to screenshot if you want to I hope this helps you plan your trip and to see what’s really doable in a short amount of time usaka is super fun with a lot going on I would recommend going into it with a loose plan because while I did have all of these pins saved we really didn’t go to many of them because there was always something cool near us that looked just as good that being said have lots of fun on your trip and we’ll see you in the next one bye
