This is just one afternoon in Osaka, so imagine spending days. You’ll need to because Osaka travel has so much to offer.
Welcome to another one! Today I’ll be spending an afternoon in Namba Osaka Where you have plenty of tourist attractions Starting in the Dotonbori area. It’s a hot one today Dotonbori is one of Osaka’s most famous and vibrant districts, known for its bustling nightlife, delicious street food, and iconic neon signs Situated in the Namba area, it’s a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists alike. The area is famous for its extravagant neon signs and billboards, especially along the Dotonbori Canal The most iconic symbol of Dotonbori is the Glico Running Man sign, which has become a symbol of Osaka itself Let’s just take a stroll and check out the sights When the Hanshin Tigers baseball team wins the championship, some drunk people actually jump in the river Ohtani is everywhere It’s actually not that busy right now. It’s still kind of early You could strain your neck always turning side to side to check out all the sights You know they’re serving sushi in that restaurant. No question Famous takoyaki. Octopus balls Did you see that? Remember to subscribe! Let’s get away from the crowd and take a stroll by the river Usually there would be some river boat tours Famous Ichiran Ramen Famous discount shop Don Quijote Next, I’ll be checking out Hozen-Ji Temple, which is about a five minute walk from here. Let’s go! To get to Hozen-ji temple, take this cool alley way Despite its relatively small size, it holds significant cultural and spiritual importance in the area The temple dates back to the 17th century, founded during the Edo period It is dedicated to Fudō Myō-ō, one of the Five Wisdom Kings in Japanese Buddhism known for his ferocious appearance and role as a protector against evil spirits. One of the most distinctive features of Hōzen-ji Temple is its moss-covered water basin, known as Mizukake Fudō Visitors to the temple splash water on the statue of Fudō Myō-ō as a form of purification and to seek blessings for health, happiness, and prosperity. Getting hungry now. Time to eat This is Tendon Tenya. Famous tempura franchise Let’s go inside Great that a lot of these menus have English now! They got all kinds They got some soy sauce, and some spices. I guess no tea for me That’s more like it There’s always some leakage Here we go baby! We got all kinds of tempura including my favorite, shrimp I believe this is some ponzu sauce Grated raddish, miso soup, some pickles, and steamed spinach. Let’s have a taste Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Just the way I like it I don’t know about you guys but I love pickles. Let’s try this bad boy A little bland but it makes me feel like I’m a healthy person at this moment Now the piece de resistance! A taste of heaven. Not even exaggerating. Well maybe a little I usually don’t fumble with the rice like this. I consider myself a bit of a chopstick master I’m not sure what kind of fish this is but I like it. That’s all that matters I’m a firm believer that miso could make or break a meal This one was pretty good. Right amount of salt That really hit the spot! This is kind of an old school payment machine. Let’s see how this works A great dining experience where I didn’t have to say a word to anyone Do you have cigarette machines in your country? On average about 600 yen a pack. ($3.81 USD) You need to get a taspo card for age verification Time for dessert. Well it’s actually not really a dessert. It’s a waffle loaded with cheese. And plenty of it! As always, just buy a ticket. No need to say anything to anyone 500 yen. About $3.18 USD Look at that drizzle baby And that’s a huge chunk of cheese Looks almost identical to a Japanese 10 yen coin. But cost 500. Rip off Kind of like food porn isn’t it. I enjoyed it That’s some serious stringiness Very cheesy. The waffle part is a little sweet. I like it! Ok on to the next destination And now we’re here at Yasaka Shrine Probably the most famous and popular shrine in this area. And now you can see why Quite Instagrammable The exact origins of Yasaka Shrine in Namba are not as well-documented as those of the Kyoto shrine However, it shares the common dedication to Susanoo-no-Mikoto the god of storms and the sea, and is part of the network of Yasaka Shrines across Japan If this doesn’t grab your attention I don’t know what would It’s not the biggest temple, but a nice one nonetheless Perfect place to go if you want to escape the city. I should mention it’s about a ten minute walk from the bustling Dotonbori area Well that’s about all for this one. I hope you enjoyed and saw something new. Let me know if there’s anything specific in Osaka you’d like to see
