Join me as I explore the breathtaking city of Nagasaki, Japan. During my visit, I experienced the poignant Nagasaki Peace Park and Hypocenter, marveled at the historic Urakami Cathedral, and reflected at the serene Nagasaki Peace Memorial Hall and Atomic Bomb Museum. I also discovered the unique Sanno Shrine One-Legged Torii Gate, visited the historic Sakamoto International Cemetery, and enjoyed the stunning views from Mount Inasa. All this and much more awaits in this incredible journey through Nagasaki!

e [Music] that all right I am on my way to the peace Park nagazaki peace Park is really huge Park and I need to be con anous of where I’m stepping is a it’s a little bit of uh traffic right here I found my way to nagazaki peace Park and what you see up ahead is the iconic statue it’s called the peace statue and it’s a huge park it has two sections the Memorial Park and the hyp Center Park so we are now in the section that is called the Memorial Park wow this is a really huge uh it’s a huge City that will take me at least 3 days to explore today is my second day I got here yesterday afternoon and my hotel is not that far from here it’s about um 10 minute uh street car ride from from where I am located and it looks like there is some kind of a school activity going on given the uh the importance of this particular historic site I would imagine a lot of kids uh visit this to learn the the facts the horror of the of the World War I so I’m just going to walk through this um part and I am trying to also go to the um the Memorial Park actually this is the Memorial Park the other one is a Hy the hyper Center Park where the actual atomic bomb was dropped on August 9th 1945 at 11:02 p.m. so I was in Hiroshima prior to my visit to nagazaki you can watch my hoshima video I toured the whole entire city the first atomic bomb was dropped on hoshima on August 6th 1945 at 8:15 a.m. and 3 days later on August 9th 1945 at 11:02 a.m. the second atomic bomb was dropped on nagazaki and I am actually going to the exact spot where where the bomb was dropped and it’s just across the street not that far from from where I am walking and this is uh the it’s called Fountain of Peace yeah a lot of uh people take photos right here along with the Statue right there [Music] there is an escalator that goes all the way down because it’s quite uh a bit of a a climb to get uh to this area is a little bit uphill but there is [Music] also stair to to walk down and uh see a lot of uh monuments along uh along the way I know that there are Korean and Korean monuments and Chinese monuments and a lot of uh those monuments were built to for the victims of uh Chinese and Korean citizens who were who were here during the atomic bombing of nagazaki so let’s go now to the hyper Center um and it’s not that far from here we will go now you see these are air red shelters that still um exist are right here and they’re trying to maintain it it’s a little bit um hard to to find but I am following actually the um look at those I’m actually following the site the map that I have right now sight of air raid shelter wow but I don’t think it helped because the atomic bomb the blast of the atomic bomb was so powerful because we are just about 100 m from the from the hyper Center but I just want to walk through this area to take a look at the uh at all these uh air raate shelters and Ground Zero I guess I am here right now I don’t understand Japanese but that’s my guess but we will go now to Ground Zero let’s go see I found this uh piece of important information it looks like the people who were in the shelters survived it says there shelters dug at the foot of a hill were dark and musty the shelter floor was always damp with drops of water falling from the ceilings I felt that the candle light was very bright immediately after the a bombing everyone in the shelter remained silent maybe because we all were at at a loss so I got my answer which is actually the shelter did help protect U whoever was in that uh inside the shelter cuz I was curious to find out if it actually survived the blast of the bomb and uh I am walking now toward the hyper center Memorial hyper Center Park I should say and the one that I was in is called the Memorial Park and like I said it’s a really huge City and uh but today I’m going to focus on this area because there is a beautiful cathedral as well that is not far from here 550 M and also uh that is the one that I am going to Atomic Bomb hyper Center and there is also a museum that I would like to go but I don’t think I will uh film that much inside the museum and then if there is still time to today I might take the uh roadway to go up the mountain because nagazaki is a beautiful it’s kind of a mountaineous city and that’s one of the reason why there was not big damage like the one that happened in hoshima because of the because the mountains actually shielded the the city from the blast of the atomic bomb but Hiroshima there was the damage was severe because it was dropped in the middle in the Heart of the City and there is no mountain to protect the the city from the the blast and this is the hyper center right there it’s a monolith right here and this is I guess this is exactly this is exact L where the uh the atomic bomb was dropped on August 9th 1945 at 1102 a.m. and there is a piece of information right there that might be helpful as well I like to read especially when they have when they have it in the in English [Music] there is a cathedral 500 M Northeast of the hyper Center and that’s the picture of the cathedral just right after the bombing but they rebuilt it actually and I am not sure what this uh maybe this is part of the structure of the cathedral that is still that is still remaining Still Standing okay I get my answer uh this is actually the uh the broken wall the broken wall of the church the Cathedral Church they brought it here this is the only part of the church that survived and uh but the actual location of the church is not actually here it’s 500 M away from where I am um right now but they brought that only part that survived they they brought it here to be part of the uh Park so there is now the Memorial Hall is a beautiful modern structure that was built to as a memorial for the victims of the bomb and this is another statue right there I will find out what that statue is for in a minute the uh almost every single historic site that I visit in Japan is always full of uh school kids and that’s good because they want them to learn um the horror of the war all right it says this Monument expresses the horror of the atomic bombing so let’s continue our tour we will go to that uh Memorial Hall to take a look at that modern building I I saw it on the internet and I like it it looks nice but we will see it now see there is also another spot that caught my attention says ground level ground level at the time of the atomic bombing so the hyp center was there and and I guess I’m the ground level is here all right this is the ground level at the time of the bombing so I’m I’m not sure what else I need to see other than what it says the ground level but let’s uh let’s take a look what the information uh says ground level at the time of the atomic bombing about 500 M the the bomb was dropped about 500 m above this uh particular spot and large amounts of roof tiles and bricks from the houses destroyed by the bomb were buried here but where are they maybe this is the one let’s take a look yeah I guess these are the ones the uh they were buried in this ground which is at the hypest center of the atomic bomb this ground is being preserved and displayed as a resource that shows the horrifying reality of the atomic bombing all right let’s uh continue the The Unofficial tour I’m walking toward Rami Cathedral it’s a European style Cathedral that got destroyed completely by the uh blast of the atomic bomb it’s a really old historic Church Catholic Church that we’re going to go and take a look it’s only 500 m from the hyper center it’s not that far it’s about 5 minute walk but it might take a little bit longer because of the uh it’s a little bit um uphill climb as you can [Music] see the construction began in 1895 it’s a European style red brick construction and I think it’s free to uh to enter I don’t think they uh they charge I was actually going to the Memorial Hall but uh but it’s actually this uh Cathedral is is close to the uh piece statue that you saw earlier so it makes sense to visit this one before going to the Memorial Hall and the atomic bomb Museum so let’s go and it’s very hot and sunny today orami cathedral was destroyed by the atomic bomb in 1945 taking the lives of some 20 Christians and father Nishida the parish priest is reported that about 8,500 of the 12,000 orami Christians perished in the bombing those Christians who survived constructed a temporary wooden Cathedral on the same site in 1946 and the new reinforced concrete structure was completed in 1959 it’s always good to uh to read at least the basic facts about the place and let’s see what they have here see over here everything is in Japanese unfortunately I cannot understand anything and and here is also in Japanese so now let’s go to the Memorial Hall and see if I can go inside the museum as well let’s go and on my way I see this historic site I think we will go and check it out says that there are some ruins back there it’s always good to to wander through a historic uh area such as this one an important historic area and what does it say right there you can read it for yourself he can always pause the video every time I point the camera at the the details that they have right there but because it’s very very hot and sunny today yesterday the weather was nice and today is really unbearably warm that’s why I cannot uh stand that long Under the Sun it’s time to go inside the building such as the museum and then uh and then uh close to Sunset I might go up the mountain to get a nice view of the city at night looks like this is the Memorial Hall nagazaki National peace memor morial hall for the atomic bomb victims it’s a museum and it looks like uh it’s going to be full of uh of those uh kids activities uh school activities I should say but other than that I don’t see uh I don’t see tourists probably I am the only one here it’s not as popular as um Hiroshima and that’s in part because nagazaki is not uh easy uh to get to I like hoshima a lot of foreign Travelers they they usually go to uh to where to Kyoto they stay in Kyoto or Osaka and then they do a day trip or something like that but nagazaki is too far for for those who are in rush they just want to travel to Japan for a week or two weeks so nagazaki is not uh is not going to cut it because it’s not uh doesn’t have direct uh shanson train that gets you all the way from Tokyo all the way direct to nagazaki but I’m staying here for 5 days let’s figure out the this building we’ll go inside [Music] [Music] [Music] you look I am only I’m only here by myself the whole place is to myself even though it’s very very important histor for excite and I wonder why people don’t visit here and it’s actually free by the way you don’t have to pay to get inside this area but the museum itself is 200 yen and that’s on the other side but this beautiful building is actually free [Music] [Music] see the hyper center of the atomic bomb is just 250 M from this uh beautiful Fountain right here [Music] I just got out of the museum and I am looking for the to gate that survived the blast of the atomic bomb and it’s actually the only to gate that is still standing right there you see so I’m going to go take a look at it and it’s about um 10 minute walk from the museum right now it’s 5:30 p.m. and I stayed inside the museum for almost 2 hours trying to kill time because I do want to go up the mountain which is not that far from here I’m going to take the roadway the roadway um all to go all the way up but I do want to go around Sunset because uh I’m going to get a nice view and this is the the gate right here it’s also known as sanos Shrine and it’s about 800 M away from the hypo center right there but surprisingly enough I don’t see I don’t see tourists in this area Let’s uh take a look what they have here unfortunately everything is in uh Japanese but you can uh get an idea as to what how it was uh like before the the bombing that picture was taken in 1939 [Music] and I guess there is something else to see this is about 5 m but I don’t know where what that is 5 m is in Japanese unfortunately it’s uh amazing that it survived the strong blast of the of the bomb and the reason also why I stayed almost 2 hours inside the museum Museum because he was super crowded with uh school kids they had some kind of uh school activities so all the tourists inside were waiting we’re waiting for them to leave so that we can read what is that uh nagazaki Medical College Gate Post and that is the sun of shrine one leg to R gate it goes that way the one we just saw and the international Cemetery right there so let’s uh take a look at this place that I have no idea what it is here we go we see something in English camp for trees in Sano shintu shrine [Applause] right there so far I only see japaneses people I don’t see foreign Travelers right there I can even walk I’m trying to preserve my energy for the for the mountain trip [Music] I really want to to go up the mountain to get a look to take a look at the city from above it’s kind of uh so loud here but I do want to walk a little bit you see it’s all it’s like kindergarten here or what let’s take a look at the uh at The Shrine itself it’s called Sano [Music] Shrine and uh and it it it got destroyed completely by the blast of the bomb so I guess they rebuilt it but the T gave the onelegged to gate that’s what they call it the one that you saw earlier actually that is the original [Music] one so now it’s time to go to the mountain let’s go I kind of like this neighborhood for some reason this is just outside the uh Shrine and I said okay let’s uh let’s film some of it if not all the uh I need to pull up uh Google Maps now and uh figure out how to get to the roadway to take me all the way to the um up the mountain and I’m going to go uh check out the cemetery since it’s only 250 M so I don’t want to be remiss if I you know Miss this uh this place maybe the cemetery is a historic site that I need to check out it’s called sakam Mutu International Shrine but where is it now I do see a nice uh Narrow Street right there I think I like nagazaki more than uh Hiroshima because it has has uh it’s kind of a mountaineous uh City and today is my second day in uh nagazaki and I’m staying here for 5 days yesterday uh I did not film anything at night because I got to my hotel afternoon and I used that time after I checked in to settle in the hotel and and get my stuff in order and relax because it was a long journey from hoshima it looks like this uh trail goes all the way up but I do see some western style buildings right there it doesn’t hurt to to wander through a little bit more but for the sake of uh Simplicity and to keep the the video a little bit uh shorter than my previous videos I would uh probably uh pass on this Trail skip it and go to uh go to find the roadway but it’s it’s always nice when you walk you know in an area that has no no people it’s like an abandoned ghost town you get a nice break from the hustle and bustle of uh major city and here we go the the trail goes all the way up and I’m sure if I go all the way up I will get a nice view nice view somewhere here wow there’s another Trail right there but definitely I will also get a nice view once I go all the way up the mountain I’m not sure if that is the mountain this side or that side we will figure we will figure that out very very soon see I am still on my mission to find that um cemetery and I am following Google Map it says 5 minutes away but uh it got me to this uh area this is a what oh boy this uh Google Maps is definitely wrong he wants me to go ins into a private area I don’t want to be in trouble I don’t want people to call police on me so uh see this is the problem with Google Maps it’s not always uh it’s not always accurate especially when you uh look for those of the beaten path uh places because it’s only about 150 M uh from where I am walking right now I don’t want to leave I I don’t want to leave this area without without uh visiting that uh cemetery and the signs that they have outside of the main street are not really helpful it says that it’s it’s here but I don’t see it but uh in the process at least you can get an idea as to how nagazaki uh local neighborhoods uh look like I’m sure you’re not going to see these uh uh scenes scenery in a on another videos because they tend to only cover the the most uh famous touristy areas hello Cat of Nagasaki hello meow she does not want to say hi to me all right now Google Map wants me to go all the way you see it says only 4 minutes away it looks like I found the cemetery and I hope they have uh description so I can read and educate myself about this place look uh it looks like it’s open to the public so far most places that I have visited so far are are free except the museum is 200 yen to enter the the [Music] museum I really hate uh the annoying uh bikes motorcycles motor bikes see I’m going to follow this sign it’s in Japanese I have no idea what it is unfortunately they don’t have it in English but it does look like it’s a nice it might be a nice Lookout uh up there this involves uh a bit of a hike but we will go this [Music] way and now it’s already 6:00 p.m. I don’t want to miss the uh the sunset footage of opportunity when going up the mountain all right you get an idea you know you get an idea sense of what this place is all about hopefully the radway that I am trying to go I can see the cable cars the gondola right there maybe that is the one uh that I will uh that I will I will go explore and then I will take a I’ll get a look I’ll get a a nice view of this of this place from uh from that uh beautiful mountain now for sure I’m going to go there next I keep saying I’m going to go there next and then I end up visiting another place along the way but let’s stick to the plan and and go there okay walking down to the bus stop I see this place called Glover Family grave I promise I’m not going to go there cuz I already said I’m going to go to the mountain but I just want to capture it and it’s only 35 M um M from uh from here and I’m walking down this uh street now it looks nice to me look at that fairy wheel right there [Music] all right I am going to the observation deck right here I took uh a bus instead of the roadway because Google Maps uh suggested uh a bus I’m not sure why it did not uh take me to the ropeway and I’m not sure if I am already here or I need to do some kind of hiking I have no idea we will see it says 700 M which means it’s going to be a short hike [Music] wow all right it looks like it’s going to be a it’s going to be a short hike uphill I’m just going to follow the the sign and I’m glad that they have it in [Music] English all right 600 M that means I am already 100 m into the hike so far and it’s been ranked as the one of the top three most beautiful views in Japan as far as uh nighttime views and I read that uh this morning you can fact check it and and go Google it just Google the best nighttime view in Japan nagazaki will will pop up definitely and I am trying to time it so that uh I get the chance to capture it during sunset and also at night time I’ll stay here for about an hour to wait for the sun to goes down to go down [Music] [Music] [Music] I guess I made it almost we will see this is the station for the radway I think rway is this way and the observation deck is 200 M so definitely I’m not there yet it looks like I made it finally perfect timing right now is let me check the time almost 7:00 p.m. and I have about half an hour till sunset it involves quite a I would say a big hike and there is a restaurant looks like there is one luxury one right there up ahead ladies and gentlemen I have achieved the goal I would say partially because the the night view will be like this which I really want to see I’m going to wait for it maybe I’m going to grab something to eat there while waiting for the for the night uh night View and it looks like uh there is another viewing platform if I just keep uh going up and this is what I think it’s a small cafeteria I said a luxury restaurant but it’s not it doesn’t look like a restaurant to me but definitely uh I’m going to grab something to eat because I am really hungry plus I’m going to spend about uh 2 hours here to enjoy the night View [Music] all right I reached the top but it looks like it’s a little bit uh windy as usual because of the high elevation I’m not quite sure what’s the exact elevation [Music] but I will share most of uh what I see wow it’s really beautiful and they give you the view at night right there with that beautiful Bridge [Music] [Applause] [Music] we [Music] are go [Music] oh we [Music] [Applause] [Music]
