we’re all right and nobody died not yet not yet not yet it is a hot day today it is praise the Lord Jus it is a hot day it was beautiful you know what I did this morning well I’ll tell you what I did I already told everybody but I’m going to tell you again cuz I’m going to share with the audience I started the carnivore diet on Monday you didn’t tell me I told you just now oh okay and fine whatever started the carnivore diet on Monday and I put together my griddle that I bought my 36 in Blackstone griddle that I bought last Swanky fall I bought it in the fall mhm and um it is uh wonderful I seasoned it and and I said to Cindy get all the meat that’s in the fridge thawing and let’s cook it cuz I had to you know Season it more I’m like let’s cook it let’s cook it and all you eat is meat on the carnivore diet and uh good good you you know emology I do and uh so uh uh uh love it because I love to eat meat and also what I love is I don’t eat a lot anymore like here’s what I had today I this morning cuz it was so beautiful had I had a meeting at noon so I had time this morning and I was like you know what I’m going to do uh there’s some stuff that I moved from the freezer to the fridge today it’s thaw out going to cook it going to cook it so I cooked it up okay bacon okay uh pork rib meat no bone and uh uh a steak okay and that’s what you ate today this is what I cooked oh it’s going to say what I ate was I cut off a little piece of the steak uhhuh had that took one piece of rib meat had that and a piece of bacon that was my breakfast right I’m only now starting to feel hungry for lunch uh lunch you know 1 2:00 I had uh some of the wonderful hold on I’m reaching back here where is oh it’s behind you in the garbage uh the I need to see the name I need just tell me the name it’s the oh I Ivy ivy what I City Smokehouse oh my God it stinks okay it’s delicious smoked salmon jerky and uh by the way uh if you’re interested um uh Greg the owner dropped off 40 cases to give away so if you want some to take home to Ezra and Mark uh you can have some Mike if you like it everybody here can have it if they like it Kobe doesn’t like it we’ll get to that later but uh anyway so I cooked everything up and it was great I have my music going and I’m out there and it’s beautiful it’s not too hot at that that point you know nice Cool Breeze beautiful sun blue skies you couldn’t get you couldn’t get any better you couldn’t get any better can I tell you what I had for today well but let me tell you this though about the the carnivore diet okay okay first couple days it really messes with your stomach so just be prepared if you’re going to try that however I it goes right through you it does and but here’s the thing well it could either go right through you or it could stop you up unfortunately I had the uh former not the latter okay and um so uh but then all of a sudden everything normalizes like today was the day and I felt like kind of sick for the last three days but now I feel like a million bucks I have energy I used to I always my entire life as soon as I got to a certain height I guess I would always skip steps going upstairs just cuz I don’t want to take time going up the stairs yeah you do so I skip steps right but in the last couple of years I don’t I I realized that I don’t always do it anymore one of the reasons why is I’m sluggish I get uh tired too easily and my knees hurt but guess what I did today with no problem skip steps skip steps and I hopped skipped and jumped all the way to work today didn’t even drive my car wow it’s 4 and 1 half miles right there so look at that okay a lot of energy a lot of energy and my hair is growing back very slowly very slowly and it’s on my back um what were what did you eat today I had had a turkey and cheese and two sticks of gum gross oh W now how is it weird to chew the gum and the turkey sandwich at the same time I didn’t do it at the same time I had a stick of gum I chewed a stick of gum at breakfast time mhm and I had a sandwich and then I chewed a stick of gum after my sandwich to freshen my breath wait sh everybody be quiet listen it’s not me somebody has their phone somebody has their phone you’ve got blue on or something yeah so you didn’t even have this show on I didn’t it was a commercial oh okay okay didn’t even I’m watching Bluey while we’re doing the podcast lot a lot of stuff to talk about here and so I want to kind of go through things quickly um because some of these things will pay off in a week or two uh number one I got to tell you Cindy was in a movie this uh Sunday what yes what movie was she in Cindy was in um I don’t know the name of it but but uh Sunday afternoon Bo called me Bo Brinkman uh famous uh movie star from Gettysburg played Major Taylor he called me and he said uh hey man I need a favor and I said what’s up and he told me and I said yes sir and I was right there no so I I said what’s going on he goes so this is the last week of class the kids have their film that we’ve been working on all semester due on Friday and there’s one kid was supposed to shoot tonight and his whole crew flaked on him can you come and help and I said sure and I’ll bring Cindy too and uh Cindy why don’t you get near that microphone there and um and I so I I I please tell me it was a horror movie well it’s it’s it’s grab the mics and bring it up to you you got to you got to talk into me there we got to hear you there you go so it’s it’s like a it’s like I don’t know what first of all there’s an assassin it’s it’s like you know superhero sci-fi crime you a super no no even better even better she’s the villain’s henchmen oh no I’m minion number one minion number one yeah if we want to get this right were you in heels and leather pants Oh no I was in a lovely polyester hot as hell top with a hood yeah with a hood that had some type of weird snake in s on the chest area she looked really cute but oh yeah I thought it was adorable adorable absolutely adorable it was cute but um what so here’s so I’m I’m operating the camera right and the kid is the director but he’s you know he’s he is a kid and and so he uh he’s dressed in this thing uh costume that he made right which is actually pretty cool it’s all black you know kind of like tight ninja thing picture a motorc right but it’s got but it has extra elbow pads uh wrist what do you call this forearm pads shoulder pads chest pads lights on his wrist and he has a samurai sword that lights up uh you know in a sheath across his back he tell you it was called a sheath yeah and he’s got a uh and he’s got a uh a helmet with uh tubes coming out of it kind of looks like Predator right okay pretty actually I was kind of impressed by that I was like that’s pretty cool the costume was definitely like he did a great job of it he wears it every day by the way he does so so um so we go to the attic on campus would you are you familiar with the attic no okay so if you ever go like way back in in the back of Campus like towards uh she’s woods and where horror films are shot where where horror films are shot um it it it’s uh like a nightclub that they have they have a nightclub it’s so cool it is so cool every does have one of these and that we didn’t have one when we were that’s what I’m pissed about these big garage door open or garage doors that open out to this beautiful balony balcony it’s a bar and they that’s what the $80,000 tuition’s for oh yeah leather couches there’s a stage there’s big screen TVs all over the wall it was amazing amazing can anybody go there probably not I think it’s just the college no but I’m going to look into renting it out to do a show from there because you there’s a bar like you could you know you could bring a keg and you know so anyway be the only time in my life I’m cool enough to go into a place like that so we’re we’re in there I I’m operating the camera um B’s kind of you know just floating around helping in any way he can and this kid is is going to uh direct you know his friends now the actors only one of them flaked and then that’s why Cindy was in it right yeah yeah so Cindy’s in it what’s your line I had two yeah two lines go ahead what’s and wait hold on let me get to my bleep button for the second one yeah the first one was something like no sir we’ve searched for a week and there’s no sign of him or something like that I’m not getting it right and then the second one was well you maybe if you’d use youring brains I we’d found him by now yeah so so but it was really cool cuz the way we lit it was pretty neat like and and I I I thought it was really F but I realized how much I love doing that like it is so much fun to do that whole thing but it was funny because you know I forgot that so it was like I was helping out and I had a guy who’s a professional filmmaker his whole life you know there kind of got my back and I’m doing what the Director of Photography does essentially right but also a little bit of what the director does and and then there’s this one point where we’re getting this shot and I’m like oh that looks good I’m like all right I’m telling the kid I’m the shot I’m like okay ju just try it like this now you know and then it was different from what the director originally told him and and he goes no no no I don’t want him to do that go it’s okay it’s okay and so then so the kid does it I’m like okay now do it like this then he then I hear the kid in the back behind me go geez thought I was the director and I said you are the director but this is how it works the Director of Photography gets a good shot but you know and and I said and you don’t have to use any of this like I kept giving him options so he had different ways to go but he didn’t grasp that so he didn’t he didn’t really seem to appreciate that but I had a great time doing it and the best part is Cindy uh got herself into the the picture and um I cannot wait to see it I am going to get a hold of it oh yes yes no no what was your thing henchman 2 minion number one number one number one don’t demote me you spoke second right oh no you spoke first I spoke first I was minion number one and the other what the funny thing was so the way the shot was the way the shot was set up was I have the tripod and then the the villain is standing in front of the camera but we only see his chin and like you know mid chest right but he had a very prominent Adams apple and muscular neck so when he would turn it the vein would pop out and the light would Shine off it it looked pretty pretty badass so anyway so the whole place is dark and he’s standing in front of a big screen which has just static you know on it and everything which is doing cool things with the light and all that they’re in the background and and back where they are there’s a wall that’s just all light and I thought it was glass but it’s actually just mesh right so it’s like this meshy Glass Wall or meshy wall with lights and like a screen but you know these lights so we left that on we turned out all the other lights and we just we just had that and we had the light from the screens flickering and everything they’re silhouetted in it’s all in one shot so they so he’s in the foreground they’re silhouetted in the background and then you know they’re they’re back there delivering their lines and then after to like take three or four I go I go you know what you guys should move for like when so and so delivers his line minion number two delivers his line start stepping forward and then villain when you’re supposed to interrupt him just snap turn around and then you guys stop right by that pole that’s there so that was the the direction problem was the way we only had one lens it was a zoom lens but it didn’t have a lot of width it wasn’t very wide and so this kid was literally 7t tall I think I’m pretty tall he was towering over me he made Cindy look like she was 5’2 I mean I’ve never felt so short in my life I’ve never felt so short in my life K was like towering over us yeah hey how you doing so he uh so anyway so uh they so whatever so we had to do a little adjusting there but it was it was a lot of fun to do and uh and I was I was glad to be able to help and uh and get involved and and the camera we used was a camera that we’re looking into getting for the studio here so I got a little practice with it like it that’s awesome yeah a two for one deal exactly you could tell he was in his element though he was having a black yeah those four hours went by really quick oh sure for me it was really hot up there super fast everybody else was bored Bo was starting to throw temper tantrums well yeah he was he’s like he like come on I want to go to bed he was like what time is it it’s almost 11 all right come on this is the last shot last shot oh yeah there were like 34 last shots but it was fun um all right so uh we will we will of course play that on the show Once uh once Edie gets it to me so everybody can see Cindy’s the can we do like a cut take where we go outside and we have a red that she can walk down and wave and then we cut to us in here debing the film I feel like that would be a lot of fun um I didn’t understand that did you get that mik you didn’t either shut I’m sorry I I’m sorry I would love to have understood that but I just didn’t I just didn’t whatever so uh you have a story about butterscotch that I’m very curious about so I have bake things oh okay and I found all these recipes for butterscotch things okay all right but you can’t find butterscotch to save your soul yeah what’s that about why has that fallen out of favor I don’t know it drives me nuts you can’t find it I love butterscotch so I went everywhere looking for it and couldn’t find it finally I said I mentioned this to my babysitter my son’s babysitter really and I don’t have a babysit he’s for my son I need a babysitter so and her husband is helping um at King’s produce which is which is on 97 going towards Littlestown it’s that Amish farm oh yeah that has the produce and he’s like ask him ask Sam he might be able to get you butterscotch I’m like okay so I go in there and I’m like hey do you have butterscotch and he’s like no he said but I might be able to order it I like okay so he goes and he gets his catalog and he comes out I he goes I can get you 50 PBS oh my god of butterscotch and I’m like sounds like heaven like I don’t need that much butterscotch I’ll take it just ever and he’s like looking through and he goes okay here’s smaller morsels but they’re 25 lb and I’m like well then never mind I don’t I don’t need that much butterscotch and he said no no no I will sell it you just tell me how much you want so he calls me to tell me it’s in yesterday I I said well can I come look at it before I tell you how much I want because I am not one of those people that can actually look at a meure figure it out yeah and go that’s a pound right okay or that’s three in or that’s three in right and uh so Colby knows how to tell that the best looking three [Laughter] in oh that’s funny so that’s funny I go me baby what the hell you talking [Music] call me baby what the hell you talking [Music] about we’re just sitting here having a good talk laughing till the sun comes out kobby baby kobby baby by the walk tallers is that 3-in Blues is that what that all right go ahead finish so keep going with your story so I go there today yeah after all of this riger Moro and I walk in without that’s the worst Moro yeah without money so I can’t buy it I thought Rick Ross I go in and I say here I okay this is how much I want it ended up being 5 lbs of Butters Scot it’s this much and is it like solid or is it no it’s in like little morsels oh oh okay chips morels that you lost me on that it’s like little like uh chocolate chips chocolate chip okay butterscotch that sounds fantastic just grab a handful I love that well that’s a lot butterscotch but there’s still 19 lbs of it there sitting so ultimately what I’m doing right now is sending out a plea to anybody who needs butterscotch to go into King’s produce on 97 and please like buy like half a pound just to help them to help them out because they spent all that money to get me that much butterscotch yeah to get me 5 PBS of butterscotch and I bought 5 PBS cuz I don’t need 5 pound so bad so I’m going to have butterscotch till the cows come home yeah till the the scotch cows so please just go somebody buy what were you making with the butterscotch I’m making cookies for Christmas no for some in for us yeah oh yeah you better have you ever had a butterscotch muffin no but I would I would yeah absolutely I love butterscotch crumble top with butterscotch Crum top I don’t know why butterscotch has fallen out of favor with the world totally has you can’t find it you can’t find and then when you find it like you know butterscotch topping on ice cream it’s never good it’s not like what I remember it’s like plastic tasting yeah it’s gross it’s faux butterscotch butter Scot yeah you do Disney now if you go to Disney like Disney World yeah you go to their ice cream shop they will give you Real Deal butterscotch yeah I would imagine that’s true like on Main Street USA right when you come in the park there’s that cuz cuz that’s when butterscotch was like the thing it’s weird how things like just go out of style like my I I learned about butterscotch cuz my grandfather used to like it on his ice cream and we he’d take us for ice cream he’d get it and I would try it and I’m like H that’s pretty good and so now I like butterscotch you know yeah but like most younger people like they’ve never heard of butterscotch they think you’re being racist and I’m like no because they hear scotch and they you know Scot people from Scotland they think they’re all it adding butter to Sugar I know no yes right it’s caramel with butter yeah but it’s it’s not though it’s a whole other deliciousness yeah you know what I mean but it’s a very old so the recipe that I have is from a very very old cookbook before chocolate chip cookies existed right so instead they had butterscotch cookies mhm that’s what I’m trying to make so this is like a cookbook from like it’s like old timey cookbook yeah I think the 1870s or something oh nice oh wow nice yeah well good bring them in when you’re uh when you’re done Mike L is in the room here with us Michael hello hello and you sir um were with us on Saturday um we had a uh we sponsored the abt’s um summer not summer but annual conference and they had it here in Gettysburg and so uh I I you know look when I go to things I tend to um flit about you know no really what and I didn’t want to leave Cindy at the table alone and we were allowed to we were I was allowed to bring there’s gambling going on in this establishment stop I was allowed to bring a total of three people I don’t know what to do and so I said well all right I’ll I’ll bring Mike cuz people know six questions the great six questions by the way Spotlight on six questions lens coming out on Monday on patreon um but uh so uh and then I thought well then I can go flit about and I won’t feel bad about leaving Cindy all by herself at the table that’s that’s what you know that’s what we did but really like not many people came in there you know it it we had a few they were passionate people a few interesting individuals we also served the absolutely vital function of when something when a conversation ran too long you could get up from behind the table and leave me and Cindy behind as a rear guard action as you made a t this was this was amazing and uh I’m glad you guys were there for this so like there was first of all it started before I got there but I got back to the table and there was this conversation going on and it was making me laugh cuz I was talking there were two people there when I came back one is a guide and you and I were talking to him we’re sitting at the table Cindy poor Cindy standing in the corner uh cornered by this guy who just assumes that because she’s at a history event she knows everything about history everywhere all the time no matter where you’re talking about and I guess they were both from the same area of Pennsylvania and he started talking about these really obscure oh colonial wars from you know like that nobody’s ever heard of talking about the Poconos I know more biography of the Pocono to him than I ever did before and I and and he would say you know cuz like the blah blah blah war and she’d be like uh oh yeah yeah but I knew that that she’s like this son of a [ __ ] referring to me like you know son of a [ __ ] I can’t believe he left me here and uh so then then somehow I get into the conversation with the guy and it’s I don’t even know what it was that just rubbed me the wrong way but it’s just I was just like I had no he had his teeth okay yeah yeah he did um I’m trying to figure out who it was and the only person I oh you wouldn’t know you wouldn’t know him I no I didn’t know him I didn’t recognize his name no no no yeah um but it was it was you know it was just getting to be too much for me and um uh so I I don’t remember how I made the Escape but I made you just got one time you just you just got up and you left dude that’s the only that’s the only track to take sometimes is is to just leave I all the time I leave him someone will be talking to the two of us you know and they’ll be like they’ve gone way you know what it is is a lack of understanding of social cues yes yeah exactly going dude like like I don’t know what’s happened to people being able to recognize social cues uh they just they can’t but I think people spend too much time online I mean I think it’s a multitude of things but regardless I I come across it all the time and it it happens the most with me and Tommy like if we’re walking somewhere to get lunch or whatever we Tommy will end up talking to somebody his his sidekick co-host on my show and um best friend and lover since like 2007 yeah I did not know that was his name yeah Tom well it’s not it’s Brett but they call him Tommy okay okay is it really Brett Thomas is yeah yeah his real name is Brett yeah okay this makes so much more sense now okay go continue sorry Nam you know um but it happens to us all the time and Tommy will like engage with it and I’ll engage with it a little bit right in the beginning but Tommy gets He he’ll dig himself into a hole there get out of right right so there’s people that don’t know how to uh read social cues saying this person doesn’t want me to keep talking to them and then there’s the people who don’t know how to extricate themselves from a situation Tommy could read the cuse but can’t get out once once it’s started it’s like he’s trying to be he wants to be nice it’s hard exactly it’s hard to do that I will I will I will straight up turn and walk away yeah they’ve just forgot I act like they forgotten that I was a part of the conversation I yeah well that’s like I think I pretended that like uh I wanted to talk to Owen claer you got in a V line for Owen The Clapper right I was like oh Owen uh remember that thing I gave you and I just went over to him and I was I I just I had it is so mean it is so mean I think it’s hysterical dude I’m telling you right now as the woman on this show yeah go ahead there is nothing more annoying than when you’re significant other walks away I think it’s fantastic well how about take it from look maybe look at it from the significant other’s point of view there’s nothing more annoying when his significant other is forcing him to engage in a conversation with an annoying person not saying Cindy did that I’m saying in this your case like you’re saying that oh no I’m talking to you Beth maybe Mark is like why are you forcing me to talk to this person I have I’m out of here never forced Mark to say anything don’t be aspar Bethany like this ND conventions Linda he walks away from me all the time he walks away from me well because and you’ll talk to everybody I could I can no at the no okay no this is this is a different thing so at the nerd conventions he’s in his element those are his people that’s his tribe that he’s like I I can’t I can’t I have to just go my brain is too overstimulated and I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it I’m about to lose control and I think I like it see you later Bethany that’s what he’s saying cuz like he’ll sign me up to work for things and he we’ll both be working and then all of a sudden I turn around to ask him a question because he’s supposed to be in charge and I turn around and he’s not here and he went off to shop or to talk to somebody or and he never comes back and I’m stuck at the registration table that’d be a comedy skit that’d be a good comedy skit he goes to shop what a oh how the tables have turned yeah my how the turn tables it’s no longer hold my purse it’s hey work this job for me right I seriously I seriously think he signed me up for things so that he I’m like his shoe in like we’ll both work registration really it’s just Bethany working so that I can leave and go do stuff you know somebody told me uh after last week played the wonderful music of um the walk tallers that um Kobe hasn’t heard them yet no he has tallers well it’s a it’s a band a collective from Pittsburgh that has sent in some songs and you you missed the unveiling of them so this time we’re just you’re you’re going to hear them as they organically appear during the show if they it might be weeks before you hear them all okay yeah um but uh or you could go back and listen to last week’s show but that that was the whole point because there’s like five or about you and and I was like songs about me oh yeah and I was like song was about you what song the one I just played what the hell what the hell is wrong with you I didn’t realize they were saying cuz you were talking during the whole thing it’s just kby baby is what they say listen call baby I thought he was saying callaby [Music] we sto the show with another monolog the talk to America SP Matt and Bethy trying to house that Lo Che today wow [Music] what this is my favorite call it baby oh yeah were you ever in the Marines call it baby were you ever in the [Music] Marines well the audience never knew that now they’re brought up to speed how’s that low that is so dud that’s awesome I want to know when they got the words for these like they looked at it went how’s that loaf I’m supposed to say how’s that loaf at the end of the song well they wrote it had multiple songs too they wrote them so I mean I didn’t write this they wrote it so they you know these are the things that they notice house that loaf they sent me some new ones this week uh did they hear us listening to them um what did they hear us listening to them I don’t know actually they didn’t say I told them that we uh we did it okay sto the show with another steing the talk to [Music] America’s man and Bethany trying to how that low P today wow what a show let see we got some there that’s great dude um did you know that um back in the days of mtown they did a song about cars crashing into buildings here cared into aild that’s the 30th one this year didn’t flip those buildings there the road would be clear just driving along without a next thing you know we building is right [Music] there dude that so that part right there that that that last part there there’s another thing they noticed is this Zab zabawa so the end of the song is Zaba zabawa I’m back here I’m jamming to that I could listen to that song car cashed into a building that’s the 30th one this year if they didn’t put those there the road would be clear just driving along without a care next thing you know I’m building is right [Music] there the temp singing Zab Z how freaking awesome is that oh boy oh boy oh boy and then there’s uh this one [Music] a car cashed into a building that’s the thir one this year if they didn’t put those buildings there the road would be clear just driving along without a care thing you know a building is right there and they just like they just bail out Zaba zabawa and then boom done they even wrote one about our buddy Grant really oh my God I can’t wait all right let’s go I haven’t seen him oh there he is I almost feel I almost feel like we should wait until he calls in and then and play it oh no play it [Music] now watching a dressing get his b he picks up the phone here a d tone gets down to his [Music] Works he tries to make [Music] M I like that one they did two versions of that oh jeez gr sits alone in his basement office watching a dressing gbg he picks up the phone here’s the dial tone dials and gets down to his work the LA Grant makes fun of Matt la la la la calls him all in Bat la la he tries to make Matt cry but he never wins cuz Matt’s an awesome guy Matt’s an awesome guy so anyway uh yeah that’s it they’re pretty cool though right Co dude super impressive and and a lot of fun that was a that was hysterical man yeah it was uh it was pretty good and it’s uh it’s it’s rather flattering that uh the one the one that gets me is the was Colby ever actually in the Marine Corps that dude they were you ever in the Marin yeah they hit it on the well and it’s it’s such a beautiful Blues the guy I mean uh where is it here it’s this one here Jerry you know baby were you ever in the Marines call baby were you ever in the Marines well the audience never knew that now they’re brought up speed how’s that [Music] low listen thing we’ll be right back someone most likely has to pee so we’ll be right [Music] now hey Gettys nerds 2024 is own you’re listening to the dressing Gettysburg podcast abbreviations welcome back to AGT okay where’s the [Music] writer you know her as the uh sidewalk conditions reporter for uh AG news um but she does many other things her actual paying job is working for the foundation um she is a she’s gettsburg Foundation leadership program specialist she’s a uh she’s attended Northampton uh Community College and University of Pittsburgh um we’ll get into why it says attended and not graduate of uh worked in hotel management in Lehigh Valley to Gettysburg in 2021 and joined the Gettysburg foundation with the opening of the children of Gettysburg 1863 Museum a fine Museum that you should all check out if you haven’t already and by the way you don’t need to be a kid no okay it it brings out the kid in all of us and and it’s also about the children of Gettysburg in 1863 and how they managed and things that happened to them right so uh there and she is now in charge of Higher Learning leadership program uh based out of Spangler Farm she is Jamie Umstead thank you Jamie for coming in wel welcome welcome lot of interesting great things going on at the foundation what is this Higher Ground leadership program here subliminal can you hear me yeah go ahead I’m GNA bring you up a little bit go ahead so yeah Higher Ground leadership so now I live out at the Spangler Farm well at least it feels like I live there so so that’s where you work now yes oh that’s nice it’s beautiful got to be nice and quiet it’s so quiet it’s kind of weird are you in a tent do you work in a tent like so no that is house is an office right is that right so there’s an office in the house yeah okay and so you uh so that’s your office how many other people work out there with you well we’ve got actually the real person who’s in charge of the leadership program because that ain’t me oh he keeps telling me it’s me but it’s not me okay it’s Brit Eisenberg Brit eisenberg’s in charge okay and so um so it’s you and Brit out there uh me Brit Billy Griffith also a guide also a guide and paulic him okay Paul I know okay so uh and so it’s a small crew out there you’re working out uh in this beautiful farm and again folks if you haven’t been out to the Spangler farm when you come you’ve got to if they’re if they’re offering it’s not always open correct you can’t just go out there they have uh summer hours and we also have two different family weekend that are coming up okay so it’s uh it’s definitely worth going out there though because it’s uh it’s beautiful really it’s just a beautiful place so okay so then you uh what is the leadership program though what do you what what do you do well since I am actually the only woman who’s out there I did bring queenly Crown the obstacle is what does it say is the way is the way and that’s the slogan of the leadership program it’s Marcus Aurelius of course it is yeah but that’s not going to fit with the thing I don’t know if that’s going to go over well with American audiences these days what do for real is is amazing I think he is too I have his uh his uh book on my uh uh thing so what we do is we actually make you think about things and this is not going to work no dang it just pull that mic closer to your mouth too anyway it makes you there you go look at uh what we do is anyway we have corporate clients so our corporate clients will call up and say hey we have a bunch of CEOs and higher Manager Management VPS that need to come out and do some leadership training um say the government they have to do a set amount of hours of leadership training a year um which is why we come we try to take advantage of that as best as we can um but what we do out there is we’ll bring these groups in and we’ve had groups as small as to up to 99 um and they’ll come out and we take them around the battlefield we give them about five minutes of history and about you know well I’d say 10% history 90% talking and discussion of all the different leadership stories that can be going on yeah so and that’s I mean that’s got to be pretty lucrative for the foundation too because those programs are they not cheap so that’s great so that’s a good way to raise money but it’s a whole different way of looking at the battlefield too I I’ve I’ve been out there 8, 627,000 times that’s three more than me yeah right yeah and I went out on a leadership tour and it is a like you’re I I’ve heard these stories 700 million times and I I found myself going oh I never thought about it that way yeah okay cuz you start to see yourself in those decisions that the leaders made so your your corporate environment wherever you may work you start to say oh you’re the sickles of this relationship aren’t you or you’re the Reynolds of this relationship and you know and and what was good what was bad about their decisions it’s fascinating yeah though I told you a couple of weeks ago maybe a month ago by now I went on a um staff ride with uh Rob Abbot oh fantastic yeah he’s one of ah he’s beautiful at what he does he is beautiful and so and beautiful to look at too yes yes and anyway he uh the way he I had never been on one before I had never been on any of these leadership things before and it was I I was bummed that I had to leave early because it was so fascinating and you’re right that’s all he did was put you in the and it wasn’t this like it wasn’t necessarily like he’s telling you uh uh the story of the battle in narrative form and it’s just one to the next here’s what happened here what would you do here’s the situation here’s what they have to deal with here’s the command structure blah blah blah blah blah and then these guys got to come up with something I just thought it was so fascinating to listen to military guys talking and I remember um we were up in Barlo null and he was talking about bad leaders and so he went around to everybody asking you know tell me about a bad leader you had and they’re all well I had a sergeon who was Oh my Captain was blah blah blah you know all this and I actually he asked he’s asked me to M cuz you know and he said and I said Bethany and he’s like but I thought it’s your show and he said and I said yeah but that’s how strong a personality Bethany is is she ends up leading the show I’m leading me she’s such a wench yeah but no I’m not going to say who I named but but but because I had I was thinking of somebody you know I’m like yeah yeah there there are some bad ones out there but isn’t it fascinating it does not matter what organization you’re a part of military non-military corporate Grassroots organization does not matter yeah these stories translate no matter what you’re doing um and my one of my favorite bits of doing this is bringing in people like the children’s museum for example we bring in kids and we introduce them to the Civil War on of on their their terms which is great um and then they leave and you have a couple you know a lot of them leave and they go this was great even though they don’t think we can hear them but and then but in this situation we have these corporate CEOs these guys who barely leave their offices they probably don’t ever go outside of their wheelhouse to get like you know the technical verbiage we’re going to start talking about T-shirt size soon um but they they wouldn’t be interested in some of this stuff um and normally right but we’re building that bridge for them to actually start to see this uh and how it can be useful knowledge for them whereas they just look at it and go oh it’s just history whatever that’s no that’s past but when they leave they’ve got a whole interest in here and then they start asking us what books they can get it’s that that’s the beauty of doing something like that because it’s you you’re you’re luring them in with one thing but you’re really giving them something else and you’re hopefully creating a number of Gettys nerds by doing it yeah and they’re going to you know really get into this and I I it’s true I I’ve I’ve seen it with Getty’s bike when I ran that and you know these people they just want to take a bike tour and do something to tire out the kids so that they fall asleep early when they get to the hotel yep and then they come back and they’re just like where do I get books like what book do I get this is so amazing yeah like no joke we send out a a pre-program survey that we send out to them and it’s they can fill out all like a little it’s not even a extensive survey it’s just like you kind of people do you manage how many people do you manage what’s your interest what you what do you think is your biggest hurdle that you need to actually learn about or need to work and to get over as a person and as a company um and then one of the very last questions is you know what is your interest in the American Civil War and it’s like literally zero to four and we’ve had people put zero yeah I believe it um and then 10 times you know those are usually the people who are just like I never thought of it that way well the uh I I I know people who work up in you know High corporate um structure and you know one of them was telling me I won’t name who unless she wants to come on the microphone um but uh you know they’re told you know do a leadership you know do some kind of team building thing you know whatever and so a lot of them I’m sure are just told that by someone they don’t care what it is they Google something they find they go that’s interesting let’s try that so that’s probably the people that have no interest in the Civil War and they’re just like yeah let’s try this but that’s great yeah that’s great cuz you least expect it it’s the old like Gettysburg wallup you know it’s just like oh you’re not you know you’re looking that way and I’m going to whack you in the back of the head with a little Gettysburg and you’re going to love it well I mean that’s what the battle together for in 1885 it was meant to it was designed to be a teaching a classroom classroom Outdoor Classroom yeah so what we’re doing instead of actually doing just military staff rides we’re taking these corpor clients out there to actually go this place has meaning and it’s not just that um and I mean it can be something as simple as just the first stop where we start talking about pedigree um bringing information to Heath yeah and him saying ah whatever you just don’t know what you’re talking about and then him taking it elevating it to AP Hill and him saying n you’re just yeah you were out of the game for too long you probably don’t know what you’re talking about either and just piecing it together of okay well who’s from Virginia where are you from okay the Carolinas whatever bu and talking about clicks talking about hey where did you go to school why why does that make a difference it always does yeah it does and it’s it’s ridiculous like it’s funny because and like you were saying before that it doesn’t matter field you’re in um there are people in leadership positions who just do not deserve to be in leadership positions but they’re there and you have to listen to them Colby you were in the Marines um and now the audience knows what was what was it like um like when you had it’s life and death there so when you have an officer who’s telling you to do something and you know it’s not what needs to be done what do you do what do you do how do you handle that so uh I was actually really fortunate because on my by far my worst deployment as far as like you know kinetic and and being engaged in in very like very daily dangerous things um I didn’t have I didn’t have bad leadership I actually I had really really good leadership okay um but I have had bad leadership outside of that experience right i’ I’ve had I had a company Commander that was just unbel unbelievable to see and then there’s been a few like new lieutenants that they they call them butter bars cuz they got the gold oh yeah yeah second lieutenant um but uh sometimes you’ll get some new new second lieutenants that come in just in in the completely wrong mentality for for the job that they’re getting ready to do um and they can end up being bad leaders but dude I mean listen at the end of the day it is the military and if they’re like if if if an officer is telling you to do something you do it but the one one positive to that Dynamic is really the person that runs like the platoon is the platoon Sergeant right he’s the most senior enlisted guy in the platoon he’s usually like a Staff Sergeant or a gun sergeant and a lot of the times they Shield you from the dumbest of the decisions you know or the worst of the decisions they they they kind of act as a uh like a buffer and a deterrent against that kind of stuff so like what they’ll like modify the order or something so the role the dynamic between the two like a platoon commander and a platoon Sergeant usually platoon Commander is a brand new lieutenant um unless it’s a weapons platoon then they’ll be a more experienced Lieutenant but that’s an offshoot so typically they’re brand new to the to the job and and to doing this for real so uh their job is they’re in they’re in command of the platoon but the guy that’s that’s getting the job done right like actually we’ll we’ll break it down this way the strategical and the Tactical level right the the lieutenant is in charge of the Strategic decisions I need this to be done uh we need to move this to this location whatever the case is the platoon Sergeant is in charge of tactical decisions right so how the job gets done right typically right he also advises the lieutenant on okay this is how you would do this typically and we should do it this way because they are the more they’re the most experienced person in the platoon right so they’ve done they’ve seen and done everything um and that is generally the dynamic between the two um so when so when you get a bad you know when you get a bad platoon Commander for instance that platoon sergeant if you have a good platoon you can have a bad platoon Sergeant too and be just be out of luck but uh but typically there’s there’s things that work against that and listen man combat when you’re in real Combat that it is a it’s a merit-based society right oh yeah um because when things when when these guys that have been in leadership positions get into it for real and and it becomes very evident at all levels of that chain of command that this dude is not good at what he’s doing they’ll be gone and whoever is showing themselves to be good at that job will take over [Music] Soo the show yeah another on steing the talk to America’s F all right that’s enough of that all right so but you but but but who who doesn’t hear what he was saying though in all seriousness hear what he was saying and say you know I’ve never been in the service but I had an experience at work like that or my boss is like that or my boss’s boss is like that well my question is Colby have you ever had a problem where you had somebody who was a kind of a higher caliber higher rank who actually stepped in and started taking control of a lower field somebody below who’s like like you mean like someone under under my commit like they they tried to take over part of my command yes uh no no the Marine Corps honestly that that’s one thing people respect highly in at least in the Infantry the in the Marine Corps they have a saying called Billet before rank so you could be a corporal but and and there could be a sergeant or a Staff Sergeant in the same let’s say Squad but if they make the Corporal the squad leader the Corporal is in charge of the sergeant or the staff sergeant so you’ve never had a Reynolds out there who actually just decided to take charge himself and go to the front yeah that happens and upstage everybody else that happens never in modern in the modern military um I mean listen if we were a guy like Reynolds is never that close to the front right if if we were in conventional war and and like something like Ukraine I mean maybe things like that would happen more often you know you think about a big conventional like assault now that there maybe there maybe that would happen but the kind of fighting I was doing was the squads well then we started talking about succession planning every everybody’s got to know everybody’s yeah yeah there’s lots of things to talk about so we can keep him going all day so how long if someone’s if uh someone signs up for for this how long is it it’s just a day or weekend it whatever you want really actually one of the coolest things about this job and I didn’t actually expect this is business people don’t want to work on the weekends so these are almost exclusively Monday through Friday gigs that these people come in for um makes sense so it’s kind of cool that way so she now has weekends off it’s amazing so then I spend all that time volunteering with the uh the foundation doing the muster and week I’m doing the Heritage hike oh yeah a hike 15 miles good for you it’s more than that’s that’s a lot but it’s going to be great but because Aaron and I are too lazy to do it and too broken um but I think one of the things about the leadership tour that we do not tout enough to away is that t everybody that is in that group right Jamie Brit Billy they’re all very enthusiastic and very passionate about what they’re doing so nine times out of 10 when somebody comes in and they’re like oh my God my boss made me do this and I’m so not in the mood by the time it’s all said and done they’re loving it because the their attitude you know you C you can’t help but not be excited about what they’re excited about oh that’s so nice I the one leadership tour I did at the very very beginning of this whole thing I went out and there was this group from the city and they were coming in and I mentioned I happened to be the bus person the SCH uhhuh uhuh and I said theer at the official title yeah and uh wait Wrangler yeah people Wrangler and I said just so you know we do have bug spray when you get off the bus um you call them bugs Tu there’s ticks oh oh actual bugs okay sorry and so when I when this one woman from the city I mean she showed up to a leadership Tour on the battlefield in heels yeah and she gets off the bus and she’s like bugs like oh my God I didn’t know there would be bugs in oh my God and she starts spraying herself with bug spray so I leave her cuz I don’t want to a fixate and I come back aate and I slid on the grass that’s how much bug spray she sprayed because the grass was wet and I was like oh my god really oh my God so like what I I guess what I’m trying to say is you have all different groups of people this is not your normal group of hum hum right and so like when I go out on a membership your normal Gettysburg c yeah yeah so when I go out on a uh membership tour these are our hardcore nerds these are the people that want to be there yeah leadership not as much but by the time it ends they’re right there with you it’s fantastic it is it is and I was going to say we had actually somebody who just came through and didn’t really had never even been to Gettysburg and by the time they left she had given us This brilliant idea about doing I mean cuz she was enamored with the the idea of the witness trees the trees that were here and so she was like what do you mean they don’t do anything with them she was like oh no we got to figure something out and so she was like what if we do an adopt a witness tree program and so she actually like we had people brainstorming how they could actually make this place better and actually keep it that’s actually a good idea keep it preserved um would the Park allow that well a lot of them aren’t on the Park yeah uh that’s true we have one out at Spangler Farm okay MH but but but people are going to want to do Park ones though not necessarily necessarily I mean let’s be real yeah listen we’ll see listen Linda Colby Linda what is Linda what is that you’ve never seen that you guys you guys love all right I see I I I have validation back here okay whatever that’s that’s not helpful to you you later okay yeah smell you later also I do want to point out that one of the things that’s so good about Jamie entering into the leadership program is it was two guys two younger guys and I said to them when they were talking about they put they posted this position and Jamie said she was going to apply for it and I was talking to Britt and Billy and I said listen I’m devastated because I love working with her um but you guys just telling you you better get your [ __ ] in here because she will not let you be you’re tough Jame apparently not tough not tough what she is is she does stuff without you having to ask she’s a very much a go-getter oh okay so like you have to up your game so you don’t look like a schlub so she doesn’t do it instead of you or or that it just doesn’t make you look like you’re an in horrible human right so that just makes me sound terrible no no no I will come in and I will absorb you no no absorb as a person who managed you managed you you were my D you reported directly to me it was fantastic it was fantastic I could not ask for a better human to report to me because I never had to I never had to worry I just knew that it was going to get done and she and I didn’t have to say anything she competent she’s fantastic well that’s good and I told Brit and Billy I said you better be prepared because she’s going to come in and she’s going to re revolutionize everything you’re do did you apply for president of the foundation I’ve applied for competency apparently this is so nice you should apply I a president yet no they’re doing a national search there you go but throw your hat in the ring this is the I absorb like one piece at a time and that’s why I’m slowly starting to go take over the foundation I figured I’d start small start the Children’s Museum they be like she likes children she must be okay and innocent and then I’m working my way into the CEOs and minds of upper manag world you’re telling your plan to people who are probably watching it right now yeah I know monologuing but J stole the show with another mon figed me out she also feeds all of us as she did when she brought us today she brought Turkey Hill uh lemonade for Stonewall Jackson day and I have my uh stressed lemon here from The Stonewall Jackson house uh that was a Christmas gift from uh Debbie I was telling Jamie that uh the lemonade is probably what Stonewall Jackson saw across the river and under the shade of the tree you know oh yeah too sweet it’s probably what he saw you know he’s like hey let’s go over there and get a sip of that yeah he’s dying of thirst and dying I liter legit dying yeah but and you get thirsty when you die yeah I bet it looked dang delicious I will say this though we don’t work together anymore Jamie and I like we work together but we’re not in the same Department used to work together and she said yesterday no was that today was that yesterday yesterday and today that she misses me oh my God ha I went over there is that nice to drop some things off and pick some things up yesterday at the rough house and oh my god did I need them yeah did you like working over there at the Children’s Museum I did very much and really I would still be there but they I I went on like Bethany did I went on a leadership tour about two years ago and it blew my mind it really truly did and I went if I can ever help out over there I’m going to find a way to do that right and then as soon as I saw a job opening pop up for it heck yeah I’m on that yeah it’s it’s got to be really because like you get your own little education while working yeah that’s kind of a you know that doesn’t come in a paycheck you know but it’s a nice perk but I prefer jobs that I can actually learn while I’m being paid yeah so in that aspect this fit all the checked all the marks yeah and and the leadership stuff is the really such a cool way to do it and so if you have ladies and gentlemen in the audience if you’ve got a a business and you want to get your team all all working together and stuff like that especially if you’re a Gettys nerd because like if you’re a Gettys nerd and you own a business and you need to get your team like all you you know in shape and stuff yeah but you can like here’s the thing if you’re not and you’re just like Googling it you find it and you go oh let’s try this and no one has an interest in this and maybe you get an interest in the battle later but no one on the team especially the leader of the team in my scenario has come with an understanding of this stuff so that when you leave there’s no way to reinforce it but if you’re a Gettys nerd you listen to this show you listen to Jim and Eric’s show you you watch all the videos that everybody has like and and and you’re really into this stuff and then your team goes back and you’re working things out and then there’s a situation that comes up and go remember when we did the team building thing and and Buford leading the boss and everything so you got to lead me and you got to let me know and then yeah so it would be say Jim bu no I said and Buford he said and Buford he did yeah I was reading his lips I might have I might have started to say John bu but then I just said let’s just go right to Bu you’re gonna break Brit’s heart so anyway my point is that you guys you know are in a better position as a Gettys nerd business owner because you can actually reinforce this when you all get back that’s true is it is it now I’m not going to ask you to name how much it costs but I am interested to know like you know if you have a small business is this something that they can afford or is it mainly big like Fortune 500 company oh no it’s absolutely what what you could afford um in fact it’s based on what you want um we build this entire program based on need kind ofart and you can even like there’s the the traditional curriculum that we have which is our basic going around well just it’s awesome in its own right and it’s a one-day program however you can add on to that an after hours dinner at the MVC so you can go to the visitors center and actually have dinner there uh for you and 50 other friends um you can do that you can have a liced battlefield guide walk you through the museum when you say dinner like when they set up the tables in the yeah oh yeah so not like at the saloon but like a after closed in front of the museum door you can have it that the whole area and the whole museum to yourself that’s um you can have your own private showing of The Cyclorama um like I said we’ll walk you through the museum with a licensed Battlefield guide um and I mean God that the other day I had fet and a crab cake mhm and it was amazing so it’s not just you’re not getting like a a box lunch no I mean you’re getting a plated dinner where everything is brought to you we you if you really want it you can get your own bar open bar for your group so obviously pric prices vary however if you want that and you’re you’re highend yeah absolutely roll out that red carpet yeah um this is for your people to actually come and learn so I mean we have the ability to take care of bigname clients that are you know Fortune 500 companies and we’re also you know able to take care of somebody who’s in town here Peter Zach says what about nonprofit organizations sure if you got the money they got the time Peter bring it in right um I mean what we do is we the the Gettysburg Foundation is the nonprofit partner of the service so anything that you actually any of these clients that come into us directly supports the National Park Service here right so kind of just goes around so what we’re constantly doing no matter what you I mean whatever you want is going towards the cause here and the the greater good of the National Park Service um what I was going to say is um it could be anybody too uh we have a program coming up uh an encounters with history program on June 15th yeah that’s it’s about to get to 8 to four oh yeah well done sir took my job away from me that’s what she does anybody can come and anybody can come and that can be AG people it can be anybody in all right well so and history High Ground leadership blah blah uh it’s uh it’s Saturday June 15th now that’s our get out of the car tour ladies and gentlemen so you can come down for the get out of the car tour and then after the tour you can head over there right what time is it time is is all day 8 to 4 yeah 8 to 4 great so you do the gr out of the car tour in the morning and then you head over there they don’t don’t have to stay the whole time right it’s a come and go all throughout the day you’re going to want to come and stay the whole time well you’re going to unfortunately have to miss this this year because we have the get out of the car Tour on June 15th uh but if you are unable to uh go out into the fields with us then you can register on the Gettysburg foundation’s website at Gettysburg foundation.org or contact leadership at Gettysburg Foundation .org yeah or you could call me you could call Jamie at 717 33921 65 63 five here I think five because that’s the leadership line that rings to all of our yeah you don’t actually want to take the call I get it just go to the general line wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait whoit whoa whoa whoa there is a line that rings to all of your phones yeah at once and then whoever picks up picks up oh really so yesterday yesterday when I just went around the office and called until somebody picked up I could have just called that number yeah yeah yeah you really but if you call britz line it actually doesn’t really go to his phone so the saying is work smarter not harder hey I didn’t know about this this is not a published on our uh phone list it is now secret 339 here’s remember this 339 2165 I’ll remember it so that’s it is going to go a blast you can register on Gettysburg foundation.org or you can contact them at uh leadership Gettysburg foundation.org or call them 717 339 2165 Jamie thank you very much would you want I wanted to say just better leaders better citizens better humans because that’s what we’re trying to do there you go people and the Gettysburg Foundation is going to do it one company at a time one company at a time everyone’s a leader and except for me you you are a leader yeah I mean the reality is everyone’s not a leader have you met some of the people we know I’ve not yeah no no no no most people are not lead I make it up every freaking day yeah yeah you’re definitely a follower no no no but you know everyone is a potential leader they just have to believe they can do it and then and then you guys give them the tools to do it is what you’re really you influencing people every single day so you’re a leader all you have to do I know that be an example for somebody so [ __ ] I can’t even I wasn’t saying I wasn’t a leader I’m talking about the rest of you people come on no but you’re right and but that’s what I’m saying though right like everyone has one in them that you just need to hey you got to believe that it’s there and B someone who can teach you the skills of a leader has to teach you I didn’t say you needed to use your skills for good I just said you needed to learn how to use them jeez this is going south really de jamad from the Gettysburg foundation not good through the nose you’re wondering sorry Bethany oh Beth poor Beth a they got you all right anyway that’s uh that’s jie from the gburg foundation leadership program she is a specialist and don’t forget the obstacle is the way and that is absolutely true I understand what Marcus is saying and he is correct ladies and gentlemen uh check them out one more time that information is Gettysburg foundation.org or leadership at Gettysburg foundation.org or call 717 339 2165 and we’ll be right back after these words okay and don’t be afraid because we’ve got news coming up and this news is amazing it’s going to be fantastic right after these [Music] words want a your Gettysburg business send an email to sales addressing Conference in 2024 and we’re going to be there uh with such dignitaries as Harold holer Ronald White Scott harwig Elizabeth Leonard Aaron shandan Jim bumel Jonathan White Jen Murray and more I’m very excited because 2025 uh I’m going to be on a panel yes what exactly probably the smartest move they’ve ever made in the CWI sorry I didn’t mean are you all right you got to lose it is that lemonade in there no this water okay I’m literally losing my voice from that so the lemonade went up your nose it went up the back of my nose yeah you are losing your voice it’s really got you horse anyway uh so uh listen but there’s something I want to tell you though I want to tell you this uh in particular here this is on what day Saturday this is Saturday okay yes Saturday and at 5:45 there’s going to be uh Battlefield and town tours controver ities and overlooked elements of Gettysburg one of them there’s several of them going on one of them is on a great battlefield of photographic exploration of the evolution of the Gettysburg Battlefield through photo through photographs and Jennifer Murray our friend Jennifer Murray and her husband Michael warer are going to uh be leading that one there and I’ll tell you uh Cindy and I a couple years ago or a year ago no a couple years ago I’ve only known you barely a year uh last year last summer we went with them Dean Schultz uh our Buddy Rich Snider from the audience he was there Kathy and uh and Veronica were there and little major was there and we uh we went around the battlefield looked at pictures talked it was a lot of fun it was really cool and uh there’s there are other things going on simultaneously the real high watermark with Lewis Trot our buddy Louie um so you could do that one Maryland who’s Maryland opposing free sters at Gettysburg with Ashley lusky benners Hill in the fight for the Union right Flank Troy Harmon it’s hard to choose it’s you can’t pick just one so we’re going to leave that up to you to pick whichever one you want to do uh you got to sign up though you got to go you can either Google it like everybody says or you can contact Civil War gettysburg.edu or 71733 7659 get there and and make sure you come up to the room that we’re going to be in and say hi we’d love to meet with you and uh and talk and uh I’d love to get your autograph so we’ll uh we’ll do that there see you in J when is it it’s uh 7 through the 12th 7 through 12 7 through 12 see you [Music] [Applause] [Music] then if Tweedle D and Tweedle dumb had children they’d be like these two here’s me you notice how hos doesn’t mention you he just says me so I think really what he’s saying is I’m both tweetle and twe I’m dumb all right uh so there uh is a show going on in the back there I guess is that what it is as always all right so sorry what she does that surprise you yeah no not really well yeah cuz Cam’s not here Cam’s not here B’s not here so I figure you know they’re so attracted for different reasons you know they just they get your attention yeah I know Opps of the spectrum right a lot of Charisma and and B negative and then uh okay so uh oh yeah our buddy Travis is here Travis Arnold is someone that everybody knows as the T-shirt guy is that right yeah uh pull that to your mouth there Travis uh he’s the T-shirt guy and he is always on Matt Atkinson’s battle walks he’s been on many stuff writer bit videos uh like just bend it it bends you know just yeah there you go you got it there you go and then pull it closer there Beth can you help him with that please just get him straightened out there with that yeah okay there you go be and then right right very there we go there we go good job Beth all right and so uh everybody knows him uh when Matt has a lecture you’re in the front row and you’ve got t-shirts on and Matt always points you out he’ll pull you up yeah he never let you talk doesn’t want to hear from you he says right he doesn’t say that no he no no no but he’ll be like he we got a Travis down here with his T-shirt on and then he’ll pull him up and uh he’ll point to whatever and then he’ll he’ll push you he pushes you into the chairs doesn’t he yeah but no yeah but no anyway so you who are you wearing today show the camera there what you’re wearing uh this is John caldwells is first division second core caldwells first division second core there you go with Edward CW get up a little bit there so we can see the guys at the bottom there just stand up a just a touch there you go sit back that’s fine that’s fine sit back like that okay Point him out to everybody who doesn’t know caral Edward cross Edward cross Patrick Kelly Patrick Kelly Sam zuk zook and John ruer Brook Brooke zuk and Brooke and um at least they rhyme what made you wear that today uh something how many of these do you have probably about 50 to 60 yeah cuz I mean every tour you go on you make a new shirt right I me I mean I had him made years ago preo Oh I thought like you you get the made for the tour you’re going to go on so you just had them all made all made Travis you just broke his heart cuz he thought you t-shirts for his tours no no no no ours and and Matts and every tour I see you on you have a shirt and I thought that you would make it aead of it did break my heart Travis well done okay that’s 10 points for awesomeness right there man thanks Travis thanks like preco is when I made made them all right so uh and so now you so you just made them all based on your interest in the different divisions and stuff okay well and that makes sense because show everybody your hat look at that now here show it right there is the camera there’s a good one so you got all the core badges with their appropriate uh division colors do you have are you missing it a you’re missing a third core one aren’t you third division third core and 12th a they weren’t here oh that’s right good one so uh okay hold it up again hold it up yeah tra that was testing you all right so you um how now did you get all those at once and where did you get those Beast meal I got them there at the diama oh okay cuz they are all the same make yeah yeah there a guy that sells them to a bunch of differentes well our friend the badge maker makes them as well and uh yeah he the sponsor of the show and uh you know a lot of things and all right and so now you wear that so people know you for that if you don’t have a t-shirt on people know you for wearing that yeah what do you do uh Travis what do you do for work uh make uh caskets caskets yeah caskets and um like a York casket yeah York casket oh do you really oh that’s cool right now I mean not that the the m i mean you know but I never mind what nothing try it again pretend pretend you just heard caskets when I worked in New York at the History Center we did a lot of stuff about industry in York yeah and New York casket was one of the ones that they always talked about a lot how long has it been there forever forever in a day and a day yeah but Matthew’s International from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania bought it bought bought it out how long did you work there yes uh this past April 3 seven years oh okay um and uh how did you how did you get into doing that you just apply for a job that was posted or my mom got me the job there okay so she knows somebody there may we no she just worked there and then you got me the job okay got it okay so she works there yeah does she still work there yeah oh okay she does the uh drops whenever you walk up to the casket that material that like fabric that hangs over that fabric the drops is that it’s called the drops drops oh drops drop okay yes so um I’ve met your parents haven’t I yeah we field tour last that’s right that’s right they’re very nice um you’re welcome you didn’t do anything they were here first you’re very nice so they should thank me for saying that you’re very nice Travis is a nice guy he’s been a great supporter of addressing get yes for many years um what do you do at York casket aspect oh you’re a woodworker yeah woodwor oh I didn’t know that so I’m learning so much about you today so what typically do you do with a casket I’m like I was way at to be be be beginning okay like where the lumber comes in so it’s like an assembly line type like an assembly line we be beginning when Mom’s we at the end okay so so Lumber comes in I’ve always wondered how they make these cuz cuz they look like they’re metal but that’s just outside right it’s wood inside no it’s wood all all all around and then it’s just but the but but it’s not a wood covering that they put no I’ve touched them they’re like metal that’s because Matthew’s got two metal plants we and one wood plant okay yeah so it depends on what kind of cast so you’re doing the wood ones yeah the wood ones oh now okay so they still have wooden caskets yes 340 a day they want 330 34 wow really yeah uh during the height of the pandemic oh yeah they wanted 425 I bet a day so who so who’s are the wooden caskets more for like I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a wooden casket at a Waker it’s just preference like whatever you choose to buy so what do they how long did they last you know underground the wooden ones not not as long as the metal one obviously now like decades perhaps I mean there vaults right so but water gets in there eventually if it’s a good seal Vault probably not yeah and then but then you know um there’s a there’s a YouTube channel called ask a mortician and oh my God she it’s very interesting what’s her name you know her name Caitlyn Caitlyn yes really interesting right yes yeah and you know we eventually we you know often we’ll turn to some form of soup so it’s kind of gross yeah like soup in an hour bones are left yeah exactly yeah it’s like when you have a chicken soup that you use like the carcass the guys guys guys guys guys guys some carage man Beth what I’m sorry oh my God I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to do that I won’t steal it all I’ll leave you some we we are so on the edge of where my fears jump in so that was fantastic all right so continue I’m sorry whatever you’re not sorry no I’m very sorry so Travis uh the guy who owned York casket that’s like a old company right yeah yeah like they I’m sorry no I don’t they’ve been around forever and ever about 80 90 years yeah it’s a long it’s been a long time they’re they’re like one of the older companies in New York County yeah that’s still around and and so Lumber comes to you you get the lumber you’re like at the beginning of the and what’s the first thing you have to do to it well it goes through the planer then through the gang rip saw okay which has 12 blades spinning simultaneously Jesus so you’re okay so it’s just raw Lumber how big is it like what what are we talking from 8 foot till uh 16 foot pieces really yeah okay and then so you have to cut it down to whatever specifications it goes through the scanner and then picks all the knots and splits and everything thing in there cut that cut that stuff out okay yeah and then when that’s all done what’s the next step goes through the uh gluing process okay oh so right there so you cut it and then it gets glued together next step yeah next step and then it goes to the other like mill B finish a like free assembly assembly uhhuh and then do they stain it or stained and um yeah they got people in who like have like astronaut suit yeah I bet oh yeah cuz that’s got to be yeah disgusting you can really do some damage to your brain cells with stain how do you think I got if you have it in an industrial you know you have to be very careful no I know this is how I got how I am no it isn’t it is I used to and it wasn’t even it wasn’t even calie tell me how it actually happened we’ll talk later my uncle drun me on my head okay yeah um so all right and then you’ve got to do what 300 something a day yeah 330 right now yeah so so you’re on your feet for like hours yeah8 hours you got you got to move and you and you can’t be lazy right like you got it’s just constant constant do you ever walk away with a headache I would have a headache it’s got to be noisy I mean you got to wear like ear yeah like PVB like safety glasses like that yeah gloves and uh what those gloves ain’t they ain’t good no I’m sure what kind of gloves are they they’re supposed to be like cut resistant but like you still get splinters oh sure right through them yeah what is it like kind of a fabric or is it like a rubberized something or it’s like a real thin like rubbery yeah can you wear your own gloves no you got to wear those because they’re special like oosha they’re like approved yeah so it’s supposed to stop you from getting cut by the saw no like from the uh like spiners oh but the splinters go right through oh my gosh I know so uh okay and then you you also reenact yes and how long have you been doing that this one would be my second year Oh I thought you done it for longer than that second year last year was my first first baptism fire if you if you want to call that’s a good one you know okay why did I think it was longer yeah I thought so to yeah okay well what made you decide to finally get into it uh like Bill askar he he got me into the engineer group with a race sment right yeah okay so uh so that’s more living history though right you’re not like out in the field shooting yes like if they if a regimen is low in men so they put me like fall in with like people oh okay yeah kind of like uh how Grant took the the Heavies out of the Forts and they just threw them on the line right you’re kind of like that just get out there boy yeah and then you get shot do you ever go down yeah like yeah when it’s really hot that’s what I would do but isn’t it kind of worse though cuz that now you’re laying on the ground baking in the sun waiting for the ticks to get you waiting for the ticks freaking hate ticks man the ticks yeah like when you go back to Camp you really got to like strip like stri stri down so you all strip naked and check each other for tips uh um and okay so you like doing the reenacting and everything like that um now as far as back to the caskets uh do you is there something that you would want to do as a career like lifelong or is there something else you’ve always wanted to do everybody says I should be become a tour guide yeah uh like a a licensed guide are you going to take the exam come on Travis it’s in December you can do it by December TR let’s just let’s just take it for the fun of it TR want to but yeah you don’t have to get the you don’t have to accept the license if you pass just take it to see yeah just to see how how much you know that’s why I’m doing rattling off some pretty deep knowledge just a second ago so I mean I think you’re at least you do better on it than I would everybody Travis Travis Travis Travis Travis take the exam I think take the exam I think I think you should do it just to see how much you know like that’s why I would do it I would never be a guide because the politics of that are Insanity exactly but the you know just to see what you know MH and then you can go around going I passed the guide exam but I decided it wasn’t for me and if you pass it and decide you know what let’s see if I could take this all the way and you get your license then you could be a guest on ask a guides there you go there you go and everybody will know your name full circle it’ll be like cheers everyone will know your name making your way in the world today takes everything you got taking a break from all your worries a lot go ahead wouldn’t you like to get away sometimes you want to go everybody knows your name o i really I just want this to be my voice all the time yeah you sound like in the at the end of the Disney movie when when uh you know the the the cat well not what I was just saying in I was just saying in general in general nobody knows what you’re talking about Beth when the did you say Emma yeah emperor’s new group I love that isn’t that like something when you got to do something with your property you have to get an easma it’s an easement oh easement sorry Travis oh do it to Travis uh let’s see yeah I can do it to Travis hold on Travis I’m gonna I’m gonna do it here all right go ahead Travis yes oh wait hold on now go hello oh there you go hello do you want to be like a chipmunk hello talk about your caskets talk about your caskets at York casket I work I work at York casket and and what do you do at York casket make caskets for dead people yeah how many uh how many of them are for dead people uh 3 40 330 a day a day that’s a lot that’s how many Dr Peppers I had um do you uh okay let me take this off now let’s Let’s Get Serious here St let’s stop listening let’s stop messing around okay yeah what just in general I don’t know Travis I see you all the time like on videos and and walking around and stuff but I’ve never actually heard you speak until today and when you spoke you were standing back here and I was like what that’s not his voice it just doesn’t matter what do you think of that Travis I thought your voice was going to be oh you you thought it would be different than yeah what what are your thoughts on that TR yeah you sound like a chipmunk what yeah I’m so used to being alone that’s why no no no it’s no it’s just your voice is a lot deeper than I expected it to be she see she thought you you did talk like a chipmunk have a deep voice you talk like a chipmunk I know you didn’t talk like a chipmunk I mean I would imagine it’s probably hard to make friends at work because you can’t stand around and talk to people right you got to constantly be going constantly going right and so and everybody else is constantly going and just throwing it to the next guy how many people are at your station and M a uh by 20 20 really yeah and so you guys so in other words you’re not standing there the whole eight hours there’s other people you kind of like filter in and out or are all 20 of you working at once 20 working at once oh really yeah has to be well cuz that’s a lot of wood so it has to be it is a lot of wood I I mean I’ve heard about York casket for so long and I used to do tours and talk about York casket I had no idea that that many people work there oh yeah yeah everybody dies so you always need casket well yeah but like I never thought I just didn’t realize it was that big of an operation 350 people work here really yeah yeah what’s your favorite model of casket does Cadillac make a model that’s a metal Ah that’s metal um like what price range you looking at no I’m saying like for you like do you ever go you know this one might be a nice one one day and I’ll I’ll get this casket or anything but Oak anything but Oak why why Oak we throw about three4 of that about half to three4 out our way really yes why cuz it’s bad yeah bad splits and bad knots and everything else wow so is Pine better than oak or do they not use pine anymore yeah they still use pine box they do yes and that’s better than oak in what way well I mean it’s not it doesn’t do what Oak does uh the top tier is probably uh popular okay sense 90% of our product is popular okay so maybe then the advice would be save up for a metal casket right or or get cremated your thoughts I’m being cremated are you why skeletons you’re afraid of your own skeleton I won’t eat their cartilage I promise I don’t want to be one one day oh my God I ain’t I ain’t going to cream made it you’re hungry Bethy just hold on a little longer my friend soon you will see a meal’s waiting for thee when this show comes to an end just picture your favorite t B with napkins and friends singing songs meth head walks out and hands you a plate of scrumptious chicken bone you know what I love that one is it’s so nice you know think of your picture nice table napkins your friends singing and then a methhead delivers a plate of chicken bones not even Wings the bones just the bones they really know how to how to get you I I just I don’t know thing what what I was very worried that I had said that out on oh no you didn’t say anything anyway listen Travis we’ve got to move on with the show Cindy’s got to come in and tell us about some things with the business Network so thank you very much for coming in I hope you had a good time anytime you want to come and hang out and always welcome to come by you know where it is just come on by ring the bell you don’t even need an invitation or to warn us just you know I might not always get to talk to you on the air but you can always hang out in the back with the crazy people all right yeah and thank you you’re very welcome Travis you’re very welcome talk to you was nice actually getting to talk to you yeah you too Beth that’s the first time anybody said that to you Beth what that it was nice to talk to you I know I’m so annoying no you’re not I’m just teasing you you know I say that to you because it’s so opposite of reality like everybody loves you and everybody loves your news now no you have to do the that’s to a good deal that’s not here’s anchor with current events and conditions sy’s got I don’t have anything ready so we’re going to talk about doors open D see here people are dying in horrible ways in gburg Pennsylvania D the mayor was there the mayor was there D no I’ll be perfectly honest guys I got that is not me I got to get I got to come up with a better way of working on the news because I don’t have time during the day to do it well do you do it only do you wait till Thursday to do it well I want to put the new things in yes of course but like but it’s also people haven’t heard news in a week feeding some stuff to you we can feed stuff to you I just am the my my life is becoming C understand it’s and it’s a busy time of year but we can all work together as a before the show instead of us all sitting around just bsing it’s we’re not good that we’ve talked about that before we’re not good at that no and I just it’s cuz I don’t crack the whip you know what I’ll crack the whip we’re going to get your headlines hor whip cracker I’m going to get your headlines made a cotton balls that whip well I’ll be because you guys work for free I can’t use the leather whip that I have or the riding crop from the and now all the news that’s fit to print and a good deal that’s not here’s AG today’s lead anchor with current events and sidewalk conditions I’m not doing it I’m the worst you are the worst give me I’ll do it I know you’re not doing it I’m going to read and now all the News That’s fit to and a good deal that’s not with ag to’s lead anchor Bethany [Music] Yingling sidewalk conditions and weekend events and cars crashing build whatever is happening bethy’s got it and brings it all to [Music] you all right we don’t need to hit whole thing all right go ahead screw that all right so the big thing that everybody wants to talk about why do it sound so weird the big thing that everybody wants to talk about is that the park is going to have their doors open event next week yes this is very cool you I’m sure you’ve done it well you get to go on these have you ever done that anybody in the back there the door’s open Co you know what that is I don’t know what that is all right Mike lens has Debbie has Travis have you ever done that no well this is your opportunity to go into the doors I highly recommend it because you get to see the inside of the houses that are normally shut up so right and what are they doing this year well I’ll tell you thank you so the following houses are going to be on the docket the Abraham Bryan house nice which is there at the high water mark yep yep yep um the Lydia ler house which is me’s headquarters sure sure been in that um I’m going to skip that one and come back to it uh the Mary Thompson house or Lee’s headquarters oh interesting I’ve been in that the David Wills house you know I have I’ve yet to go in the David Wills house you’ve never been in there never been in but the big one the one that I’m most excited about because I’ve always heard that it’s like not doing well inside structurally the Rose farm no it’s the Jacob hball house oh really it’s well it’s uh for those of you this isn’t one most people know so it’s located behind the union lines um it was used as a field hospital and rallying point on July 2nd confederate general Williams bark Will barkdale Williams barkdale William Barksdale died and was temporarily buried in the yard um it will be rehabilitated and stabilized in 2024 so later this year um the uh we’re going in it before yeah that’s the weird part right mhm see when I’m kind of like maybe they’ll just have the door open you could peek in it’s not a very big place right it’s really not none of them are so that’s the thing that’s so fascinating about into these old farm houses is that they’re tiny yeah like and and you know you you hear the oh so and so had eight children it’s like like where yeah where did they sleep in the barn with they making said children oh in front of the other children that’s the gross part yeah everybody goes there in their mind and it’s nasty but that’s the reality of it yeah gross yeah it is gross um you imagine that so my friend Diane that I work with she actually lived in the hleb house no kidding uh when her kids were younger so probably about 20 25 years ago so was it in private hands at that time no no no it was owned by the park she worked for the park her and her husband um Ricky Pierce if anybody out there used to work with the park he used to be in law enforcement okay and they used to live there and she always said to me she goes Bethany out of all the places they lived and they lived on several on the park that’s she said that’s the one that’s the most haunted you know what what was that I said I said I don’t believe it I don’t believe it either no but if you’re going to have anybody tell you that there were ghosts somewhere Diane Pierce would be the person I believe she does not make up [ __ ] somebody made a really good comment on a oh I for oh I think it was Reddit and they said sorry I’m chomping I didn’t mean that yeah what is going on over you’re eating nuts or something it’s gum anyway uh so somebody said something on Reddit cuz like somebody was like you know what where’s the most haunted spot in Gettysburg and somebody just wrote it was never haunted until the ghost started paying money or something like that you know people started paying money people started paying money for Ghost stes and it’s true yeah well I mean listen well what I’m not saying I think ghost tours are a great thing I have my issues with ghost tours anyway but here’s the thing here is the real thing mhm I I trust Diane okay so hit that one out the park there wow so yes open doors will be May 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 2: p.m. visitors will have a chance to look inside four historic homes at Gettysburg National military Park that are usually closed to the public it is a free event please pay attention to the website because on there it has all their parking each place has specific places to park so you definitely want to make sure that you’re parking in those specific places so like in other words at the hball house you got to park in the lot over there by the by the Pennsylvania Memorial I’m going to guess actually hball they say Park along Sedwick or Hancock Avenue uhhuh do not park on Pleasanton Avenue right cuz that’s a two-way Road mhm yeah and people fly along yeah by the way the other day I was uh driving on Hancock and up ahead by the Hancock wounding marker I saw um a car driving the wrong way and I was doing a live video and I’ve I always talk about it but I’ve very rarely ever caught it on on video and this person was coming the whole way and the guy ahead of me right in front of the PA Monument you know kind of stopped and put his hand out the window and said you’re going the wrong way and oh and he kept on going so I get in the middle of the lane and I’m like that doing that and he’s just looking right out past me not even like look at and I’m like okay this guy’s not going to stop so I’m just going to get out of the way then I think oh he’s just going to go down to the end where there’s that intersection by the first Minnesota with Pleasanton yeah and he’s go no no I’m in front of I’m I’m P just past just north of the first Minnesota Monument so he’s going past me and I figure oh he’s just going to go to that intersection cuz it’s easier to make a U-turn no he continues down Hancock Avenue which is the worst road if if you’re going to drive the wrong direction on any road that’s the worst one to do it on yeah cuz it’s so obvious like you’re there for all the world to see you know I mean it’s there’s no Woods or anything it’s just wide open field and everybody can see you from a mile away and go oh look at that idiot going the wrong way what else you got there I love how it’s picking up I know your voice on my microphone the other thing about open doors yeah doors open that off yeah is that one one year they uh The tral Barn open mhm and have you ever been in there uh yes okay so it has the hole from The Cannonball MH and it’s got plexiglass on it well on the inside but one of the things that made made like my brain kind of you know go weird was that when you walk up into the barn it’s not that high above you because you’re walking up into the thring floor so it’s like like I could touch it if I really wanted to like it yeah but it [Laughter] exactly hey did you know cby was in the Marines Third Battalion and third regiment it sees an only child but his twin is sometimes here say hello to Jeremy mcne how’s that all right go mcneir hasn’t been here in a while and that song doesn’t really work all right go ahead what up okay next does anybody in the audience know the guy who was the the poet or Uncle dad he owned the battlefield leather in Stan Township what and operated Cavalry graphics and Dro dead thread what are you in are you having a stroke no you know it show your H try that again Uncle dad Uncle Dad they called him Uncle dad I don’t know but he his name is Tim Rhymer he was 60 years old Township um he actually uh owned this you know Battlefield leather you don’t know Battlefield leather I don’t think so no I don’t wear a lot of leather he was uh a veteran of oper operation Iraqi Freedom no so was kobby yeah nothing kobby not at all listen you don’t know this guy I even know this guy it’s a big military I don’t I’m just saying [Music] local call it baby why you ever in the Marines that’s Tastefully done that is T as a jazz musician would say that’s got taste all right go ahead so what about him um he passed away he was in uh the gentleman that passed away in the motorcycle accident on the 28th he was 60 motorcycle accident he was in O he was in oif and he was 60 mhm well must have been an officer right yeah wait what motorcycle accident on Sunday yeah yeah don’t they um in uh uh old York and Blair Hollow Road in Carol Township K I don’t know that I I didn’t hear that when did did you know that yeah yeah oh oh oh oh oh oh oh up no yeah oh okay sorry sorry I had to move the camera there but anyway he was a local business owner so I thought I would mention that he has passed away well that’s sad I’m sorry to hear that yep so sad but you don’t give a c no it’s not that I don’t give a crap I didn’t hear about it until I mean I did but I I didn’t hear the I didn’t hear who it was I heard about the accident yeah yeah know nobody said who it was yeah that happened didn’t that happen um on the 28th the 28th oh okay oh no I’m thinking of there was another one there was a motorcycle yeah that was different there was a different spot yeah that I’m not okay so I didn’t hear about that one there was a motorcycle accident I think on the same day as the uh state trooper and the van and the one further down on 15 oh well then there was also another one wow I think on Monday a lot of motorcycle accidents uh happen where your helmet yeah just Please be aware your are happening okay next you mother oh EBY have you you been I’ve missed you I missed you too buddy yeah been good though you know it’s a long two weeks you moved your studio over to your house yeah dude and it’s huge huge space yeah you I you know when you first moved here and I saw that Bas and I was like oh my God this would be perfect for a studio it really is a huge enor and you got that blue carpet there still right blue carpet and I I’m kind of in love with it now well it it fits for this and uh can you please get your Internet fixed so that I can do stuff listen I’m going to by a hot spot okay what what what what else is there there was an a woman a local woman here in Gettysburg County for the third time has escaped the police she’s there’s a warrant out for her arrest how she keep escaping yeah third that’s what I’m trying to so wait 34y old woman has escaped from the police in Gettysburg for a third time according to they had her in custody and she escaped escaped for the third time really so how does this happen that must be one clever chick yeah I think it’s one of those situations where like you got to go pee and then dude listen even those situations that’d be hard also you got to have goon the size of Texas all right so she failed to appear for a court date oh that’s not the same oh that’s not yeah I thought you were but that was back in December but now we’ve hours she she seems to be related to uh so she was on bail when she failed to appear for a court date on December 29th 2023 the incident seems to be related to a case about driving under the influence of a controlled substance according to court records in April of 2024 a warrant was issued this is the third time she escaped the police and had a warrant issued according to previous dockets and releases she failed to appear at another DUI related court case in 2019 failed to appear after a domestic incident where she gave false identification to the police in 2015 sounds like they put her on bail for dumb reasons most recently Adams County Sheriff Sheriff’s Office described her as black 5’8 tall woman weighing 130 lbs she has black hair brown eyes anyone with information is asked to call them Monday through Friday just Monday through Friday you see her on the weekend if you see her on the weekend you got to wait till Monday wait till just make sure you make a really good note of that yeah yeah no note to self Monday call police I saw her saw fugitive Kier Kiera Kira I’m not sure k e i r a Kira Monae Johnson is her name all right well there you go escaping police is her game be on the lookout yeah be on the lookout bolo guys bolo bolo bolo so so um there there’s been uh now a lot of people coming into town mhm a lot of uh you know I guess everybody’s all excited about the the weather getting good yes right so we got a lot more people coming into town which means you got to kind of you know be careful when you drive around here this is the season when deer are going to be running across the street and buildings are going to just appear in front of you so be sure you don’t hit either one uh and everybody will have a nice uh summer season like to jum out saying some gentleman was struck in front of Kenny’s today yes there is no further information on his a human by a car a human hit by a car a human hit by a car car is he in the hospital it says no further information on his status yeah yeah so that happened today so be aware buildings cars people all jumping out in front of you while you’re driving Please be aware that this is happening everything is like it seems like the whole world is going crazy you know like people just don’t know how to do basic things anymore they don’t know how to be behave anywhere they go what am I missing leadership training they need leadership training that’s that’s what I need training that’s a good one so I’m Cindy sent this to me because she’s a good friend um good for you s it’s this day in history but I’m confused as to why it comes from the Gettysburg bur Police Department it doesn’t matter where it came from let’s hear The Story come on this day in history they must have had a slow day I’m picking out must have um picking out some of the fun ones in 1536 on this day in history am I know amolin second wife of Henry VII is arrested and taken to the Tower of London yeah spoiler alert she’s soon going to be beheaded know this is um was it your friend Beth uhuh I don’t remember I remember the conversation I don’t remember who why does this have anything to do with amoin because they they talk about her in the movie anyway it’s things lines stick out in my head and bowan that’s how they say it bow the intricacies of the female mind man you can number I find it fascinating there’s always a lot more going on up there than there is in a mail m i i I agree 100% with that yeah we think about two things yeah listen if you came into our mind you get bored really fast cuz there’s not there’s it is it’s just on repeat a few different things yeah it’s true fast forwarding to 1918 General Motors acquires the Chevrolet motor company of Delaware in 1924 US president cal cal Calin Calvin kulage proclaims ancient lava fields kind of tough now because it’s hard to get only meat you know but oh yeah that’s rough yeah I could ask for bones and just suck them out I swear to God if we go out after this show and you order something that has bones in it I never chicken wings I am never going out with you again I’m going to get a tomahawk steti oh dude I’ll do that with you and then I’ll chew the cartilage off that oh was intentional today I I think this is how he thought he could get I I think it probably you know like I think they uh they might have struck a nerve with Grant and made him cry you know bro you know followers do you have now I have 159 159 somebody please go follow I want to get I like even numbers I want to get to 160 to get I don’t know how to do it so if I give will you do it yes I’ll oh you haven’t followed yet I don’t know how to do how many times do I have to tell you I don’t know how to do probably 10 more usually you just push on the screen where it says follow you know what Kobe it’s very intuitive you know what Kobe I’m going to tell you a story you’re a jerk the end the end end of story no I do love you it’s going very well did you find it no go ahead I don’t know how to do it okay go ahead she’ll what else what else any anything coming up aren’t you going to do like a featured business or something like that I am I thought she had a question okay well let’s finish about something completely different all right well let’s finish this there now you’re following and now right have 160 so um starting on Monday which is May 6th already I can’t believe unbelievable yeah we are starting our monthly uh member spotlights so first Monday of every month um we’re going to Spotlight and feature a a business um local or not so we’ve had five subm submissions so far so everybody get your submissions in because I want to eventually get this to hopefully be a weekly uh member Spotlight where we can do it every Monday that would be lovely but for now we’re going to start with who we have and go from there so hey what’s little free advertising yeah it’s wonderful yeah so just need to fill out there’s a form that is um it’s actually pinned to the top on our Facebook page um under you can see member Spotlight there it’s a Google doc so just fill that out with your information and then I pull it all together and we’ll put together a nice advertising I have to say when I go on Facebook personal account which is very rare and infrequent but when I do uh all my notifications are so and so like this on addressing Gettysburg’s business Network so you’re doing a very good job with that some steam yeah yeah and again the idea of this folks is if you’re in the audience and you have a business and you want to connect with other business owners or customers or business owners in Gettysburg maybe you could work together on something then you know yeah so we also um and Anthony a listener he is we’re going to be promoting his business well and he had suggested can we do some type of a virtual um networking mixer of sorts so we’re arranging that I’m working with him to see you know what his vision is and how it would work for him um so we can put that together and then hopefully I’m hoping for June we’ll see um and in person local I have an idea for that might work okay yeah that would be interesting yeah yeah yeah but yeah we want to get some people together how convenient that you guys live together so you can just like tell I do yeah that’s why I’m waiting till later instead of doing it now all right so what what were you I wasn’t going to ask her anything I was going to say something Colby yes um so I was talking to somebody today little a little girl that I’m not going to name her name but she recently has been at the hospital in the hospital for quite some time um and she was up in Hershey and she was telling me about this really awesome person that she met who was her nurse at the hospital and then she said and and she knows you Bethany and I’m like I have no clue who this is and then she said he um Taylor this must be the one yeah and I said when we were at Taylor was talking about who I do know who you’re talking about um that’s the wife of the wife Tay is a nurse pediatric nurse at the hospital at the podcast and she said yeah she said you’re on a podcast and he has his own podcast and you’re Rivals oh I love that I love that that’s here how old is she um I think she’s under 10 yeah I think okay that’s cute yeah that’s cute she’s had a lot of struggles recently so it was nice that she had a she said that was her favorite nurse the entire time she was there oh Taylor’s great we we have a lot of fun we Cindy and I went over there about a month ago maybe for dinner and and we played games and we had a lot of fun and I acted like children yeah and the girls rolled their eyes isn’t that like how you normally act that’s basically get way worse behind closed doors when the beer is Flowing yeah but was fun and we’re going to get together Saturday and we’re going to do the same thing heck yeah and shoot guns tell her to uh you know make soft food you know what you know what we could do Matt so for all of those out there we actually had an we had Matt on my show one time for an interview and we recorded which we have to redo cuz it’s 5 hours long it was 5 and 1 half hours long and by the end of it we were wasted I mean we cuz that was back when I had the big table in there and we were all just pouring each other bourbon the whole time so we decided we weren’t going to to use that we’re going to re-record but maybe we get together and make like this Platinum tier for patreon and if they pay the patreon Platinum tier they can get access to that unreleased episode they won’t like that it’s not even it’s not even interesting it’s just rambling idiots for 5 and a half hours it was terrible it was not good anyway what we’re going to go and eat dinner because uh Bethany is starting to go uh pale you’re starting look a little pale there so we’re going to go get something to eat [Music] okay [Music] buildin today Bethy oh Bethy your new surely makes the show Beth o e hey come on girl in house that they slip it in there so nonchalant dude you almost don’t even realize they say that go on and house that low yeah it’s an everything all right listen we’re going to uh say thank you to Jamie for coming in and we’re gonna want to thank uh uh uh uh uh Travis for coming on and Colby for coming back and everything and Debbie and Cindy and and Bethany and we’re going to rock the cbba ladies and gentlemen we’re going to go eat some food and I’m going to eat just meat if we can find a place that’ll give me just meet and we’ll see you next week when we’ll have a guest and I don’t remember who it is but we’ll see you then bye-bye now bye today’s opening theme is written and performed by Colin Southfield and the mushroom country band Bumper Music is arranged and performed by Billy Webster and sometimes Kevin McLoud AG today is produced by Matt certh ginging Debbie Jones and Sydney Compton engineered by kobby Sumer and maybe some times someone else guest accommodations are provided by the guests themselves we’ll need a couple thousand patrons to be able to put people up in hotels speaking of patrons maybe you’d like to become one you’ll find plenty of perks over there not to mention hundreds of episodes that will help you further your Gettysburg and some more education so go to patreon.com Gettysburg I’m wos Grande the voice of addressing Gettysburg thanks for listening while we we can just get real [Music] nutty whatever do you [Applause] [Music] mean [Applause] Thea cover well this concludes our broadcast dayy

  1. That band has some serious talent. It’s only natural they would want to create some songs in honor of my sheer exuberance and humor.
