I’m actually back this is TomTom Tokyo reporting in after a two Monon Hiatus yeah about that there abouts welcome back Tom it’s good to see Budd be back yeah man holy smokes dude wow before before we get uh before we start talking about you and your adventures uh first off faders got fed Japan is about two dude’s booze Japan and the [ __ ] news still got it and this is episode number 742 I believe and uh yeah so Tom you are back The Man Behind the Mask little Alice Cooper for you and um yeah you’re wearing your red sunglasses you kind of look like that guy from Natural Born Killers Woody harelson was [ __ ] dope you you know like when I bought these my friend said John Lenin but like then I remember that iconic picture was purple sunglasses then then you said that to me and I was like Yeah The Woody harson he’s like I’m going kill you [ __ ] yeah kind of look yeah I was like so actually yes sir you are correct I [ __ ] like them the the you know the red really looks good on you too it’s your Red’s your color man looks good on everybody well not me but uh yeah so I’m wearing uh my black shades and honor of Ed piscar the the great Cartoonist the great comic book artist and genius so yeah so this is my tribute to him so I’m wearing sunglasses today um yeah so Tom it’s been a while since you’ve been on the show and uh what’s been going on you said something like your living life like Seinfeld or something yeah actually what you mean by that because by coincidence I actually jump bumped into you and or maybe jumped into you and I was like what no no because like I think I I think you I think I talked to you because I worked a construction job and it was okay then it wasn’t Okay blah but uh then they said well okay you can keep working for the company we’re going to lower your wages I’m like no you cannot do that wait a second let me get this straight so you last time we spoke you’re working in construction and everything was great until it wasn’t and um it’s kind of the Story of My Life yeah Pro probably in this economy it’s probably the story a lot of people lives oh yeah and um basically they said they’re going to lower your wages because of the economy or did you TR because of [ __ ] well I don’t I dude I don’t even know because it’s like well it’s it’s like [ __ ] reason [ __ ] reasons it’s like you think is it possible some of the [ __ ] foremen or some of the [ __ ] are [ __ ] racist I don’t know really that was it no it’s it’s not that it’s just it’s not it’s not clicking it’s like you have to do this you have to do that blah blah I got [ __ ] sick of it you you got sick of your boss telling you what to do uh yeah I think everybody’s in that situation no it wasn’t my boss it was just a couple people like C sometimes I’m assigned to certain areas yeah go there do your job no problem it’s like right right do this MH also all most of the other guyin that were working for the the foreigners have have quit but there were a couple instances like once I was called a racial slur by an old man and I did not appreciate that what what was the racial slur a whole guy I’m I’m guy just mean stupid Foreigner I’m I’m not going to I’m not going to say the term even though I’m I’m allowed to you’re allowed to use like racial terms when they refer to you but I’m not going to say I’m not going to like he called I was called a slur all right you’re called a slur okay let’s leave it at that’s not cool so I got into an argument with them they said okay well maybe he was wrong we don’t know about that it’s like yes you [ __ ] do because like the vice president’s cousin was standing next to him when he said it uh so that’s that’s not a good sign not a good sign and then also like I had a dick bag just follow me around micromanager you have to do this you have to do this way it’s just like you have to work harder you have to work faster like [ __ ] I don’t see you doing [ __ ] well yeah so had a couple dick bags and I another dick bag tell me that I’m worthless what’s a dick bag dick bag a bag of dicks bag of dou got it all right gotta bag of smoosh smoosh smoosh all right all right fair enough fair enough we’re all learning here today yeah all right and another guy who’s I guess not a boss but technically my senior you’re [ __ ] worth this you can’t [ __ ] do anything right it’s like you were half my size I’m in a construction area there’s a hard Services I could smack your head off okay well it’s causing undue stress I know obviously I didn’t do it or say it you didn’t say that either right no I didn’t I actually kept it to myself but I was like n after a certain point it’s like you don’t have my best interest in mind you’re going to cut my wages and like we’re going to cut your wages can’t do that wait it’s illegal isn’t it yeah to cut wages yeah you think well I mean especially if you have a contract yeah so all right so would you do you just quit not right away I I got pissed off and I was like thought about it and I was like we want to cut your wages sign this contract it says your wages are being cut they make you sign a contract like yes I agree to these terms and conditions I totally agree that I will do the same job for less money oh no okay so all right what did I do and I thought about it mhm then I said I want vacation time you can’t do that I will go to the ministry of labor we will see actually you can take some time off byebye P holiday for a week so you took like a paid holiday so for a week for a week which is pretty good no not bad and then what happened I apparently I didn’t take it seriously enough because I just half asked it went boo your job your job at the vacation both who was me there’s a tear in my beer oh it’s so sad and then I got like a couple job interviews and I got like offered CRA crap wages to do whatever and I was like I’m not doing actually one was really creepy because I kept saying no you have to come here and sign this contract it’s like no I don’t have to work for you wait so and they wanted a lot of personal different company that tried to hire you yeah it was it was it was [ __ ] creepy dude they’re like well we want you we’re going to photocopy every page of your passport we’re going to do this they want like way more like if you’re a foreign worker in Japan you have to like give them a certain like you know your paperwork your visa to make sure you’re legit it’s fine yeah it’s not a big deal I get that but they they wanted like way too much they want like way too much like DNA yeah might as well like yeah spit in a tube okay can you jiz in this cup and then pee in this cup and then okay all right not not not not that technically but just about just about okay gotcha I was like I’m they’re like oh we didn’t bring all the necessary samples with you so I’m like I’ll think about it and get back to you tomorrow and then they called me up tomorrow and just like so you’re on your way right and I’m like no I’m I’m not not not I’m not doing this you’re not offering enough money and this doesn’t sound like a good job okay so you you have to come here okay no actually I don’t have to come here [ __ ] off okay yeah that sounds scary so okay so you interviewed for a couple of jobs and uh pretty pretty much you’re just reaching a dead end after a dead end after a dead end then what happened after that I was a punk ass little [ __ ] and went back to work for a week you went back oh so D oh you did this during like your week off so you had had a week off full pay uhuh then I went back and I was like oh [ __ ] this place I [ __ ] hate it but it’s a job whatever a job if you keep [ __ ] working if you just signed the contract it’s fine mhm lower wages job for Life fine fine not what we agreed on but whatever how low were they cutting your wages by what percentage were they cutting up like 50% or something or 10% six or 7% That’s not good I if you pay taxes that’s like 20% it’s enough to bite then I went back to the same [ __ ] shitty job and then [ __ ] harassed me and I was like you know what [ __ ] this oh then then it became the stair master master because we had to go up and down eight or nine floors just up and down up and down clear [ __ ] out throw go back up and down go back up and down going to have a [ __ ] heart attack did that for a week and I was like it’s good exercise man dude you’re [ __ ] you’re getting buff yeah yeah but then then I realized like I have one more week of paid vacation oh so you took another week of paid vacation yeah I was like I did not take this seriously enough no you didn’t Fu Balls to the walls yes so this is where I pulled like uh not a Kramer George castanza a George castanza remember there’s like okay I I think you saw me a little bit during this period I might have bumped into you but like George C Seinfield great show by the way great show but like he decides like one day he just like walks into work said I I’m [ __ ] fed him my job and I hate it so I’m just going to do the opposite of whatever I do and I’ll probably get the opposite episode yeah yeah but but he just doesn’t he starts getting promoted that’s what I did so you did the opposite and you got promoted well I was job interviewing but I got hired a lot I just walked and said [ __ ] it Balls to the walls I went on an epic Bender was drunk for a week and a half okay wait I’m kind of getting confused so okay you recogniz the job you don’t like it you take a weak holiday and then you come back and during that week holiday you’re interviewing at other companies no no no during the we week holiday I worked it and it sucked and I hated it and I was like [ __ ] it I I I’m not doing this job anymore oh that that’s the second holiday the second vacation so okay so the first vacation you interviewed for jobs you didn’t get any of those jobs went back to work for a week then after that week of work hard labor you you took another week off right and during that week you’re interviewing again and when you’re interviewing you’re saying the opposite of what you usually say and you’re doing the opposite of what you usually do and you did you get a job yes several oh wow several jobs I got blackout drunk for a week and a half what I’m I’m not exaggerate kids don’t do what I do I black out drunk and got piss wasted and then we’re just walk into an interview and like find the find the interview place and like whack down one black coffee and an energy drink stomp some breath months in there sorry breath mints that was like breath bus what’s that breaths bre is that a new hey man which one of you [ __ ] wants to give me the most money you said that pretty much pretty much okay all right and then like yeah I got offered almost every position I interviewed I did like one or two a day for like a week and a half and like yeah it took I went with the highest bidder wow yeah holy smokes so pretty much and I got a better job you got a better job so you interviewed blackout drunk this is why life speaking of breath mints and and you got a job yeah this is why life has never taught me any good like decisionmaking skills it’s like oh I’m having a bit of conundrum what should I do just get wasted you have a great idea it’ll work out totally no okay now what were you my wife was not impressed with this but like she respects the results yeah obviously so but uh what were you drinking exactly were you drinking whiskey scotch bourbon tequila Jinn Shu the devil drink the what Tequila No oh 11 specials oh no are you kidding me so it’s like the the strong nines dude those are they’re they’re obviously blackout drinks so you’re you’re drinking strong nines yeah oh my God how many would you drink I don’t even touch those I don’t remember you don’t remember my goodness Tom and you interviewed and you got the job wow and I got a better and I got a better job out of it actually I got offered several positions POS the driver apparently like apparently I’m a lot more fun when I’m drunk uh well you know that’s debatable but it depends on how drunk you are too but um let’s see so now what are you doing are you still doing construction or yeah still doing construction you better hope that they don’t watch this probably not but like no but like no I’m actually like it’s a much better position yeah go to the same place do do the same job I’m like it’s still I I do work six days a week I do good but like the contract says from 8 to 5 and like at the very latest I’m out of there by 4: some sometimes usually 3 and like sometimes like 10 or 10:30 or 11 they’re just like it’s [ __ ] it’s pissing down rain like can’t do anything go home nice and and I get tips you get tips yeah the [ __ ] Boss Man shows up like seriously the boss man’s [ __ ] cool man my boss like I who I’ve only been working for for like Le like a month yeah he just like shows up and goes hey man oh hey hey how you doing talks to everybody want some money he’s real friendly and he’s like man it’s kind of hot out today and like cracks open in the wallet hands everybody like 10 bucks you know 1,000 y goes man it’s hot like uh drink a little bit of water she like if by water you mean beer after my shift finish yes you are correct oh my goodness well that’s cool wow what a good boss and what are you doing are you I’m not even getting into the good part like let’s get into the good part after after like a month this is after like a month the boss just like shows up one day and just like goes hey how’s everybody doing envelope and it was around well this has been around like payday time coming and I figured it was just like a pay SLP cuz like some of them like I guess a in a lot of places like it’s old school it’s all electronic banking but a lot of them like in Japan are really old school just hand you a slip of paper but you can per with the office blah blah blah blah blah just hands me like a slip of paper nice nice ni I’m just like you know this envelope and I’m like hey hey man thanks buddy that’s cool BL blah and I didn’t like open up until like I got off work I open up and there like 100 crisp $100 bill there I was like mhm yeah as a tip yeah man just gave you 100 Buck gave me 100 bucks so what are you doing exactly are you breaking things down or building things up building things up so you’re actually building buildings yeah so you’re learning I’m building a hotel in like one of the northeastern suburbs of Tokyo wow cool very cool like I’m Mixing concrete and like uh I won’t I won’t mess with you the crazy boring details but like basically my main job is like so I’ve got a big bucket in front of me yeah so I measure some water pour it into the bucket then like 25 kilo bag dump that in yep and I got this like if you know a food processor right imagine that about being 3T long half the size be mix it up for a couple minutes wow cool next you just do that all day yeah wow not bad no that’s the other [ __ ] like you know help clean up uh yeah you know stair Master is killing me cuz I still got to like up and down like five six stories like once in a while dude that’s great exercise it is but like yeah it kills your body man yeah at first but then I was sore and also oh man like the thing like the grip your forearms like mhm yeah yeah yeah you’re gripping stuff you’re picking stuff up not not everybody works those out but like yeah so I did that for a while I was like yeah dude I can tell you’re getting buff yeah I was like I was sore for a couple days and after that I was like I think I’m good yeah I mean you used to be really chubby dude you’re like a big teddy bear but now yeah yeah you’re turning into like a big tough guy man you should you know in your free time you should like wrestle or something yeah maybe we’ll see yeah yeah totally man [Music] hey [Music] he I don’t want to follow you [Music] you are [Music] like you like want [Music] it I like wanted and love I don’t want to you I’m really excited to do this I’ve got all my paints here it takes about this much paint to make a popsick painting and I’ve got my two other most important ingredients very strong hot coffee oh actually that’s not that hot but still it’s strong coffee and I’ve got punk rock music with these two things nothing could go wrong all right with that said let’s [Music] [Music] rock if you want to counterproductive and this is why life has taught me horrible bad lessons Yeah well yeah so wow you got completely black do you remember interviewing somewhat so w and I passed almost every single interview every single interview can you tell me while I was drunk can you tell can you tell me about the interview that you didn’t pass like I mean what what happened [ __ ] if I remember dude [ __ ] if I remember how interviews I just kept getting emails going yeah when would you like to start I just took the first B I was like you guys seem pretty [ __ ] cool oh my god well obviously so man well congratulations actually though I I I will say like the company I’m working for is like really cool because like they’re open-minded because it is they’re actually like foreigners there well like i’ in my crew there’s like three or other like African dudes oh really you can actually speak in English bit bit of a heavy accent was like yo what up dog they’re pretty cool cool awesome that’s Fant I’ve had in in my experience like working uh with African dudes might be biased but like I’ve had about 80% good experiences with them cool so like yeah everybody’s like pretty cool and pretty chill fantastic man well that’s marvelous man congratulations it’s a bit weird sorry like I wasn’t back on the podcast to explain this [ __ ] but like you’re here now [ __ ] happened yep obviously so well congratulations on uh falling forward and Landing a job and making more money and uh that’s absolutely fantastic congratulations Tom that’s great well everybody everybody on got it in Japan wishes you fantastic it’s very tidy very clean lots of toys you can see yeah well lots of toys and actually we put up uh some Adam 3’s artwork Adam 3’s got some artwork behind us which is kind of cool so yeah oh something might be worth some money you never know yeah for like five bucks or something but yeah man I know man I think you’re under representing yourself but I think it’s cool well well if I do want to represent myself I would definitely talk about Tokyo art tank that’s coming up yes Vaders uh for one week and one week only Tokyo art tank once again is going to be having its Grand Extravaganza art experience for you to enjoy yes it’s located at Gallery conceal for one week from uh let’s see May 27th until June 2nd and on every single day we have 26 artists who are exhibiting their finest artwork and every single artist is a Tokyo local artist they’re all very amazing all very cool very positive yes quick question you’re going on local this time no International artists no International artist this time yes yes yes well every time I have an international artist and I love having International artists come into Japan and stuff to showcase the work as a special guest that’s always a lot of fun but this time we’re not doing that this time we’re focusing on Tokyo artists so I assume I probably know more than half of them maybe maybe you’re definitely going to know some of them so that’s going to be cool you should definitely come by bring the family it’s uh uh there’s five rooms well there’s five rooms and four of the rooms are family friendly and let’s just leave it at that and um a cool thing about Tokyo art tank is that uh it’s located in Shibuya at Gallery conceal which is like a 4-minute walk from H Chico statue and uh on every single day we have cool events that are happening on Monday evening we have a cocktail meet and greet party where you can meet all the artists on Tuesday in the evening we’ve got poetry class not poetry classes but a poet oh you got this you the the called statue that you bought for your son yeah that’s very cool oh you you can continue like video video content video please continue with your Spiel thank you thank you my Spiel uh on Tuesday we have poetry reading and on Wednesday during the day we’ve got free yoga classes yoga and art classes and in the evening we have a film festival where five Tokyo based filmmakers are going to be exhibiting short films uh music videos and documentaries it’s going to be absolutely fantastic Thursday we’ve got Dr sketchy’s crew coming in and they’re going to be teaching people how to draw and uh like sketch and do portraiture and then on Friday we have drawing no we got watercolor classes by the man Carlos and so he’s going to be teaching you how to to paint with watercolors which is going to be very exciting and then in the evening we have uh we have I think five bands performing five acoustic bands which is going to be great and then on Saturday we have a hip-hop performance by Anthony H you should definitely come for that one oh dud he’s the man I [ __ ] support the hell out that that D’s awesome love that guy and then uh in the after anon’s hip-hop performance we’re going to have uh I think three module DJs the module DJs are DJs that DJ with actual hardware and that’s going to be really exciting and then Sunday is going to be a day but we’re going to have a groovy Beats by a kid crew so there’s like kids that are like 8 years old to 13 years old that going to be DJing with 45s and uh that’s going to be really exciting yeah it’s be actually Machel DJing like if you’ve never seen it live before like it’s it’s interesting to see cuz like you know they’ve got the like uh teeny tiny mle alligator clips like exactly it’s weird to see yeah I shame on you for not watching video but like this is like something I purchased from Johnny yeah actually I felt obliged to buy it because uh this was sitting on a rack when I brought my kid by yeah and he just like runs up runs up and just grabs it starts flying around the room and I’m like put that back oh my gosh yeah no this is really cool so yeah it’s the um like your asking price was like 200 bucks and I was like dude I’m sorry I’m really sorry about that but like friend discount you got a friend discount let’s not let’s not throw that out there but anyway yeah and all the artwork is going to be available to view and to purchase so yeah if you’re in the Tokyo area I highly recommend that you come down to Tokyo art tank Volume 11 at the end of the month it is going to be absolutely fantastic and uh yeah and uh everything is free all the classes the the shows the performances the port got to buy got to buy those but the beer is like 600 Yen for like it’s like kind of like almost a pint you know I mean I I don’t know why they do that it’s so cheap it’s like six it’s like six bucks you know if you go to any of you go if you go to like art exhibition yeah they they charge you like 1,000 actually in that neighborhood dogen zaka is like really developed now right so if you go to any bar in the area it’s going to be like 1,000 1,200 which I think is actually super ridiculous but it’s not like it was like I guess before it came became super cool like 15 10 15 years ago oh yeah when it was all ghetto yeah but um now it wasn’t even ghetto it was just like kind of cool it was hipster or something I don’t I don’t know what the [ __ ] it was no dogen zaka was well anyway so that’s here there there but anyway now dogen zaka is kind of developed and stuff the beers are expensive except for a gallery conceal so come on down to Gallery conceal and enjoy Tokyo art tank Volume 11 be there be there be there cool so yeah that’s that’s what I that’s what I’ve been up to yeah yeah pro pro tip Reese the wheels bribe me with a burrito from Taco Bell or two oh my gosh Taco Bell speaking of Taco Bell have you been to the Taco Bell and nak aegro hell yeah oh my gosh you know it’s it’s so interesting by the way sorry but like interrupt you my my kid’s like super into it oh yeah and like he’s like hey hey buddy we can eat have a burger we can have McDonald’s or Taco Bell and he’s like Taco Bell I was like I’m sitting there I’m like that’s my boy oh my gosh I love Taco Bell but yeah it just opened up down the street it’s it’s so odd that they opened up a a Taco Bell in aegro because right down the street so odd or mean do you mean so awesome I guess awesome but it’s just like two of like the best Mexican restaurants in the whole city or in nakao right you’ve got Baja right over here that has absolutely amazing fish tacos and their Margaritas are next level and then if you go to junkadelic everything at junkadelic is awesome so I I I can’t believe that Taco Bell is like hm we want in this racket we got to get into Naka no no no no they’s seeing an opportunity man cuz that’s fast food like like junkadelic is like good but it’s it’s super it’s hella good but it’s pricey it is pricey bajas is like not bad but like it’s I don’t know it’s a local culture it’s like it’s a Hidden Gem it’s like a whole dude if you’ve been to the place the place is a [ __ ] hole in the wall I had my birthday there it was great yeah I remember that that was fun that was really fun yeah but dude it’s like a it’s it’s I’m not knocking the food like they’re all organic really nice burritos but like you know it’s it’s a [ __ ] hole in the wall yeah well it’s small it’s it’s it’s comfortable it’s cozy but anyway yeah so uh that’s interesting and to be honest dude dude I think that Taco Bell is the first fast food restaurant in Neo other than the mossberger that I harassed you at once there’s oh snap yes there is no it’s a freshness Burger there’s okay I take that back there’s two freshness Burgers that’s right yeah I guess that place is cool that it shut down it’s actually moved a couple blocks down down the street yeah so yeah so there’s fresh I I thought that was funny cuz I used to go there once in a while and I just like walked in there and you were busy with a client yeah yeah like I just like walked by Johnny I was like was going to say hello but you seemed like really engaged no you’re in the smoking section anyway so that’s a different story fun my point is my point is yeah but my point is though now that now that what called uh Taco Bell is here and and their their business is thriving what’s going to happen is I think we’re probably going to get more fast food I think McDonald’s is probably going to open up this going be a Burger King God I hope there a Burger King doesn’t open up I love a Whopper if a Burger King opens up it’s it’s the birds for me man I’m I man go with Wendy’s man Wendy’s no oh dude I used to work Baconator Baconator dude I used to work at Wendy’s man and I’ll tell you what Wendy’s h a lot of weird stuff happens in the in the back I’ll tell you that still work at Taco Bell I still [ __ ] love it really yeah back in the day when I was like 16 was one my first possibly my first real not a real job but a job oh gosh yeah so yeah we we played a game called hide the food so we’d make food and we’d hide it in the restaurant and see how long it took like for like the day crew to find it if they did find it disclaimer yeah dude there was a guy there was a guy he took this big handful of bacon right and he took the bacon and he put it on top of the uh was it the exit sign so if you go to the exit sign there would be this this big pile of bacon that was there right and it was there until the day even after the day I left it was still there nobody found that bacon and if I ever go back to that McDonald’s not McDonald’s if I ever go back to that Wendy’s I’m going to see if that bacon is still what would happen to bacon that’s 20 years old does it like fossilize or something I think the roaches would get to that one dog well I think the roaches got to that in the first day but still it’s just like would it would it evaporate what like roaches would get to that but do like Prime Time Hotel be like yo this is a five star hotel [ __ ] all you come up in here and eat all this [ __ ] [ __ ] it’s a room you can eat [ __ ] oh maybe but anyway so yeah I just wonder if that Bacon’s still there I’m going to have to check that out but yeah I’m cross that out of my memory yeah I don’t need a Taco Bell I no not Taco Bell but Wendy’s Taco Bell It’s s a Miss for me I don’t know man talk about some [ __ ] okay well all right you’re happy okay well Thomas I think it’s time that we move forward
