i’m currently nago waiting for a bus so
i can go up north to the unpopulated
area over a million people live on the
island of okinawa but most of them live
in the south near the capital city of
naha and near the military bases around
okinawa city I want to know why nobody
chooses to live in Northern Okinawa I
take the number 67 bus and head through
the streets of nago whose main
attraction is the Odeon beer factory
podium is by far the number one beer in
Okinawa a little beyond nago the road
hugs the coastline we pass a few small
villages on the way to hunt ona where we
have to switch buses Cantona is the last
major village before heading to the tip
of the island hey doma sake the bus
leaves us in hen tona a quiet town with
a few small stores restaurants and
hotels thousands of miles from home I
run into someone from my home state of
Ohio who knows my mother-in-law satoko
my new friends and I board the next bus
to hate Oh misaki my plan is to take the
bus to hit amasaki and hike back to hem
Tona which looks to be about 15
kilometers on the map we’re currently on
the bus 280 misaki the ocean outside is
more beautiful than i’ve ever seen
looking out the window it quickly
becomes apparent why no one lives up
north the rocky landscape crashes
quickly into the ocean leaving no room
for building houses or farming the
scenery is beautiful and I’m looking
forward to reaching the northern tip of
the island hey Toma sake
you

Thanks for the feedback. I think I am going to have about 25-30 podcasts about Okinawa by the time I'm finished. I'm going to work my way south to the WWII Peace Memorial.
No, I am in Ohio now. It's been a year since I've been there, but I'm finally just getting a chance to edit the video I took. I hope that my final product will be about 25-30 different podcasts. Please subscribe, to that you can see more. Search for "AgileH" and "Okinawa" to find all of my Okinawa related videos.
Thanks for the comment. I'm glad I could show you something on okinawa that you have never seen. My next video to Yonoha-Dake should be something new for most Okinawans too. I didn't meet anybody who had ever gone up there while I was in Okinawa. You shoud subscribe to my videos to see the coming episodes. I plan on making at least 15 more.
I have a lot more videos about okinawa to release, so you should subscribe to my videos. I'm slowly making my way south on the island.
I like most of what I had. Champuru, Okinawa Soba were both delicious.
hi mr.Agilesan my name is larry stafford.I am 26 years old and i am a truck driver who lives in Deleware.Well for the most part i grew up in okinawa, japan or i guess u could say i was an airforce brat, for most of my young life.Ive been in america for about 7 years, and every month i talk about okinawa id say about 10to20 times.I missit badly it's all ive thought about since.Almost everyday.I'd do anything anything i tell u to someday see it again.Pls i begv u if therewas a way2take me with uresp.
I was there 68-71. I was in Sukiran near Kadena. We had a fun spot just north of Kadena we called Bolo Point. That's the furthest north we ever went. We weren't welcome at the time. I always wanted to go back some day but I know it's not the same anymore. It had very natural beauty. Highway 58 could be seen with farmers and their carts being pulled by ox.
Naha wasn't the busiest airport then, Kadena was with it's military flights and B52's.
Oh the memories.
I loved the noodles and the fruit. The pig ears weren't that bad either.
I know a little Japanese, but I am definitely not fluent. Sake is more popular on the mainland of Japan. Down south they like their awamori.
I'm from the Columbus area. Thanks for watching.
yes. very friendly. When I was hiking along the highway I had several offer to give me rides to my destination.
there are people who live up north. new ventures abound. like the cliff/north side of kouri-jima for instance. which had no bridge to it until fairly recently.
Love your videos! I was born in Okinawa and miss it and family very much. Hope you had some purple potato ice cream!
@micandosmum I had that and green tea ice cream. I also had one of those ice cups with the red beans. Not sure what it's called.
Wow it looks so beautiful, I wish plane tickets weren't so expensive
@PopeOnArope123 Save your money. It's worth it.
きみのレポートは正しいね。すごく素直で正しいレポートだね。ありがとう。日本語のレスポンスがすくないのが寂しいから僕があえて日本語でレスポンソするよ。フロム 茨城 生まれは沖縄。
I used google translate for this one enjoy. Translation below!
You're correct report. You're very honest and correct report. For example it is Ri – Oh. I dare you Resuponso in Japanese with little response from the Japanese sad. Born in Ibaraki from Okinawa
I was in the Air Force and was stationed there for 6 yrs. I loved the people, culture and the Awamori (泡盛) (is an alcoholic beverage indigenous to and unique to Okinawa). "DRINK VERY LITTLE SLOWLY". I enjoyed the fishing all around the island. I met and befriended several Okinawan's and Japanese who grew up there. Absolutly wonderful friends. The food took a little getting used to, it's a good thing I was there so long. It gave me a chance to drop my american fears and enjoy myself. AwesomeVid
I always find it hard to drink Awamori slowly. It goes down so nicely after a hot day in Okinawa.
