  1. Hi,
    Great videos !
I'm spending 5 days in Okinawa, 11-16 of august. Can you make me a short list of the most important things to do/see in such a short time ?

    Cheers, Rosario

  2. WW2 Peace Memorial, Shuri Castle, Kokusai-Dori (downtown Naha), Ocean Expo Park. Eat Okinawa Soba. Drink Awamori. That should get you started. Have fun. Let me know what you did while you were there.

  3. I was stationed at Camp Courtney 20 years ago and visited the castle during that time; thanks for the memories!

  4. Glad you liked it. Thanks for subscribing to my videos. Beginning next week, you will be able to buy a high-quality DVD of this documentary at my web site StrayCompassDOTcom.

  5. I think the belly rubbing gentleman may have been performing a qi gong (chi kung) exercise. Rub your belly and eat goya…live as long Yoda.

  6. thats not true. if you join the Marines and your a healthy athletic person you'll be sent into war.

  7. i wouldnt even want to be here.
i do want to be in combat.
im not a physico but i want to fight the enemy and do some REAL service, not go to a place like this. i want to go to the Marines to fight terrorists, or any type of America's enemies, not take a fucking vacation.

  8. im not one of those 5 year olds who think combat is awesome but i want to be fighting americas wars, i think thats what serving ur country means, not relaxing in a place like this. if that means combat, than i except it

  9. We are winning both of those wars thats why it makes me mad that w are pulling out of Iraq.
our casualties in Afghanistan are 600, and Al Quaeda/Taliban are 11,100.
we are winning, and im not old enough or id enlist in the USMC right away and request to go into afghanistan

  10. O my god!!!!!!!! at 0:32 that looks almost exactly like the part in the shuri castle level in world at war final fronts where ur under fire from a machine gun on that stairs

  11. @ElizabethReau I think you can take a cab or drive almost all the way to the top of Shuri, but there is a lot of climbing and walking from some of the entrances. I couldn't tell you which entrance is the good one though. Most of the outdoor hikes I took were hilly, but there is no reason you can't take it slow and enjoy the scenery.

  12. Okinawa has a really fascinating history. There's an awesome book about it called "Okinawa; The History of an Island People." I highly recommend it. 🙂

  13. so has the japan disasters affected your family any?
my family lives in okinawa, I have a house on kudaka, have you been there?

  14. @japanfilipino They weren't affected too much. The earthquake caused some structural damage to a few homes, but no one was hurt.

  15. @AgileHProductions That's good, my family was affected a bit, but only economically.
So when do you guys plan to go back for a visit? I plan to visit some of the places you have mentioned, because from some of the videos you posted, a ton has changed since 1997. so I gotta see what's new. ^_^

  16. @japanfilipino Good question. I thought we were going back next year for a wedding, but that recently changed. Maybe in two years from now.

  17. @AgileHProductions yes weddings seem to be a VERY big deal in japan… I am heading back in Sept for my young brother's wedding. I did want to go back in Oct for the festivals, but if I do go back after September I would probably go to stay and work.

Have you ever thought about living there for a year or so?

  18. @japanfilipino It sounds like a lot of fun, but with two kids I probably won't be doing it anytime soon. For now, it's just a vacation destination. ZAN NEN DESU NE!

  19. In Call of Duty 5 ( World at War ) ,Shuri Castle is the last mission of American soldier, and make sure the castle is the most disastrous place in CoD WaW.
But it still the great history .

  20. Good vid. Just went yesterday and it is worth going to once and taking a nice walk around. There are even some grassy areas to hang out for a while too and enjoy the breeze. I like your sense of humor. Caught me off guard about the guy being hungry/pregnant and the worlds saddest guard.

  21. it depends who you talk to, my mom worked off base and most of her colleges hated mainland japan and wanted nothing to do with their culture, they only wanted to revive their dying culture that was basically taken from them during WW2
Whereas some okinawans do want american bases gone. But not many people know but a lot of the protestors are paid and sent to okinawa from mainland.
like I said it depends on who you talk to.
