Cruise news time well are we getting to a spot where no vax will be required will that happen soon carnival speaking out today about their vaccine philosophy their vaccine policy explained also we’ve got the big celebrations for cozumel we got big celebrations for grand cayman and we got big celebrations
For an old old old cruise line celebrating uh almost a birthday it’s hard to believe cruise news let’s talk about it hey hey what’s up everybody welcome back to la lito loca i’m your host tony here with the latest cruise news updates happy wednesday everybody it is the 20th
Of april i hope everybody is doing well are you living that cruise life how soon is your next cruise i’m seven days until i board the island princess for a 14-day cruise through the panama canal my mind’s already blown i don’t know what to expect and i’m looking forward to
Seeing what it is and sharing that with you guys but let’s talk some cruise news first i’m going to save the carnival story till the end because i want to get to the fun celebratory stories first celebratory story number one there’s a old old old old cruise line that
Sometimes has the rap for being an old old old old cruise line celebrating a birthday holland america line has been doing vacation sailings for people since 1895. how about that 1895 that means they’ve been doing cruises they’ve been in the cruise business for 149 years they’re one year away from a
Really big milestone birthday 150 years how about that like you know when you think of cruising you think of cruising starting in the you know i don’t know 70s 80s that kind of thing love boat kind of thing carnival royal all those new iterations of cruising but holland america has been
Getting it done and they’re also tracking in on another big milestone where they’re going to have their whole fleet of cruise ships online very soon there’s only four of them left to go and by june the 12th of 2022 all 11 of the holland america damn ships will be
In service uh all of the ships that are coming online will also be having birthday celebrations but of course the newest cruise ship the rotterdam has been in service for a while now but they haven’t had their official naming ceremony what could they be waiting for well they’re probably waiting for this
Synergistic event the rotterdam will be in rotterdam in the netherlands for the official naming ceremony on may the 30th how about that rotterdam rotterdam it’s very exciting i know there’s a bunch of you out there that are big time howl cruisers so congratulations on your favorite cruise
Line hitting such a milestone and what’s your next how cruise cruise news story number two grand cayman they are open for business they’re in phase two of their cruising restart which means there will be no limits on the amount of passengers that can visit grand cayman on the daily and
No limit on the amount of cruise ships that can show up there and visit grand cayman daily they still have their health requirements in place you have to be vaccinated to get off the cruise ship in grand cayman but they’ve got some numbers in during phase one from march
The 21st to april the 17th just a few days ago they serve as 75 000 passengers in grand cayman and of course phase two kicked off on april the 18th so it’s going to be interesting to see without these restrictions for the amount of people that can show up there how many
More people will go to grand cayman i’ve been to grand cayman we talked about it in an earlier video one of the popular destinations there is hell they also got some great distillery tours botanical gardens rum cakes all kinds of cool stuff there in grand cayman i know it’s
A lot of folks favorite spot do you love the grand cayman leave a comment below cruise news story number three well cozumel not to be outdone by grand cayman they looked at grand cayman said hold my beer you did 75 000 in a month well in the first
Three months of 2022 we did more cruise passengers than all the cruise passengers we did in about six months in 2021 600 000 passengers visited cozumel in the first three months of 2022 this is only about 75 percent of the normal uh run rate so we’re not back to
Pre-pandemic cruise numbers uh but uh it’s a good number for the crew’s restart the 600 000 passengers came off of 340 cruise ships and the projection for 2022 962 cruise ships visiting cozumel for close to 7 million passengers again this is about 25 less than 2019 uh but yeah exciting
Times that’s not the most visited cruise port there in the caribbean and uh they’re getting back up to speed they’re getting back up to numbers how about that we’ll just ask every time do you love cozumel leave a comment below what’s your favorite do you like sanchos do you like nachika columbia
I don’t know uh leave a comment below all right we gotta talk about what was said today from carnival when it comes to their vaccine philosophy they explained their vaccine philosophy and it’s not much different than what i’d expect it was so nice it was so nice to
Hear this explanation because this is what i have uh surmised during this whole time and i’ve probably said it before but uh now it’ll come out from somebody else’s mouth and maybe people will connect with it but first let me quickly invite you to subscribe if you
Like staying up to date with everything that’s going on in carousing wow cruising fired up today please consider subscribing with the notification bell on that way you don’t miss out on any of these episodes i heard from a lot of you guys that the robots the robots the
Robots don’t say it too loud had unsubscribed several of you and unrang your notification bell so do that check do that check check the subscribe button check your notification bell to make sure that some nerd do well algorithm one and zero did not shut you off uh
Welcome to the show we do this every day uh the hands are always part of the show people get confused out there they’re like what’s up with your hands i don’t know they’re part of the show uh please consider subscribing notification bell thank you in advance hashtag
Notification squad are you out there uh squad leader looking for you all right here’s the deal everybody asks the question what’s up with the vaccine requirement we know that people who are vaccinated still get and spread kobe why are the cruise lines still requiring the vaccine well john heal the brand
Ambassador for carnival he was fielding a bunch of questions yesterday about the mask leaving the uh the terminal the transportation just a reminder the tsa controls the cruise terminals and the tsa where the people that this masking this unmasking impacted yesterday there was a statement out from the cdc today that said all
Right fine we’re not going to challenge this if the judge says no mass then it’s up to whoever wants to do it that that kind of thing and so now it’s going to be interesting to see if the people who control the terminals uh of course the local port authorities work in
Conjunction with the tsa it’ll be a conversation between those two people it’ll be interesting to see where the mass go away at in the terminals will some terminals still have them please continue to leave in the comments or shoot me an email did you have to wear a mask in the terminal for
Embarkation or disembarkation i’m interested to track along with that i think it’ll take a bit i think it’ll take a bit for that to change but in the frenzy of all that conversation john hill busted out with this very interesting statement about why carnival requires the vaccine and i i don’t think
It should surprise you but i want to read it and look if you’re somebody who’s curious as to why carnival requires the vaccine and honestly really most cruise lines this is for you if you are wondering if you’re the person that types in the comments why is the vaccine
Required because it can still be spread why do the cruise lines require this if you’re the person that types that on every video and i see your name i know you type it on every video this is the explanation and certainly you might not like it or anything but this is the the
Is this is the why uh so all right are we all are we all together these are the words of carnival’s brand ambassador john heald he is appointed to speak for carnival so this is carnival he said the question about why carnival indeed the whole cruise industry have crews with
Mostly vaccinated guests is a good one because everybody’s asking it john it’s very simple it’s simple if one of our guests test positive for kova 19 while on board the ship and they are fully vaccinated they do not have severe symptoms or need hospitalization well
How do you know that john do you have any data well this is what he said this is proving to be the case as although we have had people test positive we have not needed any guests to be taken off the ship with serious covet illness
And look he’s got more to say but let me make a comment about this that’s the crux of it the reason that vaccines are required on cruise ships is cruise lines do not want to deal with severe covet and what they’ve found out as the cruise restart has gone forward is that people
That are vaccinated that get infected do not end up with severe covet he goes on to say those people who are not vaccinated have a much much higher risk of needing hospitalization that’s something you can argue with john i know not everybody agrees with it but this is
The assumption that they’re working with so if you’re trying to figure out the logic of the thing you have to understand why they’re thinking like this and the thinking at the cruise line is that unvaccinated people are more likely to need hospitalization and the cruise lines don’t want to deal with
Hospitalization hence therefore an ergo right now they don’t want unvaccinated people a bunch of them on the cruise ship he wraps it up with this the cruise industry realized that we could not possibly allow serious illness on board as we were so much in the spotlight and indeed still are
All of you guys out there saying wow the cdc is hard on the cruise industry the media is hard on the cruise industry health officials are hard on the cruise industry that’s why there’s vaccines on cruise ships because all of those people are hard on the cruise industry right
Wrong indifferent that’s what the is is we make no apologies for this john continues cruising with mostly fully vaccinated guests has allowed the industry to survive and in particular to this company allowed us to not have to cancel any cruises since the restart in july of 2021 it’s hard to argue with the
Data that the company is gathering so if you’re a leader of the company and you say all right uh everybody says we got to go all vaccinated all the health officials all the cdc all right well some people are going to be disadvantaged yeah we know but that’s
What they’re telling us to do and then as as it happens then all of these data points start stacking up on each other and you have ship after ship with nobody being removed with severe covet and you have no cancellations because of covid they’re like all right we got to keep
Doing this why risk it for the biscuit when we’re already starting to fill up our cruise ships and we’re not having any severe covet this is why there is a vaccine requirement on cruise ships and this is why i think if you’re if you’re taking the implication from what john has said i
Don’t hear anything in that that makes it seem like that the requirement for vaccine on cruise ships will be going away soon so the answer to the question that i posed in the thumbnail the vax requirement going away soon i continue to believe that the answer to that question is no
Now again there’s plenty of debate to be had out there but if we want to deal with the people that are making the decisions for the cruise lines and understand their mindset there’s a glimpse into it boom that is your cruise news let me know what you think about
All of this i know it’s probably not going to sway the people that uh want to cruise that are not vaccinated certainly it’s a challenge for people that want a cruise that aren’t vaccinated that’s understandable but i don’t think you’re getting any sympathy right now from the
Cruise line other than oh it’s sad we wish you could cruise but they’re gonna they’re gonna do what they have to do to keep their business running and that’s the unfortunate thing for those that aren’t able to cruise right now thank you so much for checking out the show
Today and if you’re curious as to what fueled the show today it was a 16 ounce diet mountain dew no coffee yet but a 16 ounce diet mountain dew i’m jittery uh but yeah thank you so much for checking out the show today i hope you enjoyed it
You can show that you enjoyed it that you loved it that you support the show by hitting the like button and if you don’t hit the like button unfortunately i will be forced to punish you and today’s punishment is this you’re going to come back from an excursion all
Sweaty you’re going to jump in the shower and you’re going to realize that while you’re on your excursion the room steward forgot to leave you any towels and the only towel that you have left in your cabin is that special towel animal that special towel animal that you’ve been saving the whole cruise
Because that happens and you’re going to have to unfold that special towel animal right in front of your little baby child and the child’s gonna freak out because you unfolded that elephant or if you don’t have a baby child you’re gonna have a like a partner who really loves
The towel animal and they’re gonna be like you murderer and that that’s just that you this can all be avoided this whole scenario could all be avoided if you just hit the like button this is tony for la lido loca and until the next time we’ll see you on the lido Bye bye go see you sayonara avidazine hasta luego go

Over 2% of crew and passengers tested positive last week on Grandeur. The ship lost 25 more crew members and is operating at reduced capacity. Passengers on b2bs that tested positive were forced off the ship and put into the only hotel that would take Covid cases. They have no access to OTC meds and have only one person that checks in on them occasionally.
No one should have to go thru that situation, it’s inhumane.
Why don’t they consider age?? Requiring the vax for teens/children is not supported by the data, which shows they’re far less likely to get severe Covid.
Looking forward to feedback on your Panama cruise and seeing some video.
Most people, even unvaccinated, are not getting severe illness. We need to get rid of vax requirements 😫 I want to take my grandchildren again, but refused to put the poison into them.
Leaving the 11th from Vancouver 🥳
I call bs
Love to cruise. I did 24 cruises and can't wait to go on the next one as soon as the cruise lines will drop the vaxx policy. I am not vaxxed and I'll never be. Tony let us know when you find out that the policy is dropped and none vaxxed people like me with my family can go on a cruise.
It's still discrimination
My first cruise was in 2013, and just happened to be in the Caymans on Halloween. The tour bus stopped at the post office in Hell, and I could not resist sending a post card to my mother postmarked from Hell on Halloween of the lucky year ‘13.
I do not know if the postmaster dresses like a red devil everyday, or just on All Hallow’s Eve.
So far, vaccines are required, but boosters are only recommended. According to your analysis of the Carnival president’s rational for why vaccines are required, do you think (so-called) “boosters” will be required to cruise?
I just love your humor!!!
Not putting poison in my body just to go on a cruise
What’s the latest on testing being eliminated. It’s way past time and an added unnecessary expense now.
If I’m faxed I should not need to test.
When will they get rid of testing.?I have both vaccines , two boosters and I had COVID at Christmas, very mild.
When will they get rid of testing? I have had 2 vaccine, 2 boosters and had COVID at Christmas, very mild.
BS serious illness for the un vaccinated that is BS they need to drop that non sense idiotic restrictions,,, Bull Shh
I don't agree with his statement, however I understand it. That is what the CDC and Anthony Fauci have been telling us but much of this and other things they tell us have been shown to be incorrect. In fact there was a study from Boston a year ago that showed 75% of the covid patients in Massachusetts were vaccinated. I get that they tell us the risks are much less for vaxxed, in fact they say its 17x less but they're increments of less than 1% total. For example the studies showed the risk of hospitalization for unvaccinated is 0.89% and risk for vaccinated is 0.02%, however both are still under 1% risk. The politicians health orgs and pharma companies use this to make is sound great or terrible based on their agenda. Again, that being said, I under standard why the cruise lines are basing off the CDC and Fauci, I just personally don't believe those organizations anymore.
We left Friday return Monday no mask in terminal , most stores in Nassau still requiring when we were there Saturday.
Just got off a Carnival cruise out of Miami. Did not have to wear a mask during debarkation.
Keep the vaccinated rules and I Don’t cruise 🚢- I’m free 🇺🇸
Love the answer from John Heald and agree it makes sense, it’s hard to argue with the statistics that they’re for sure collecting and paying close attention to. Plenty of vaccinated cruisers to fill the ships means they have no reason to rock the boat either. 😉
No tests! Now.
So when will they acknowledge those who have natural immunity are better protected and allow those who have had it already cruise. I mean if facts and science mean anything? Sounds fishy to me.
I was on the 1st cruises in 2021 on MSC and CELEBRITY UNVACCINATED out of Fl. Why did they change vaccine protocol?
My God I hope they drop these damn Vaccine Requirements. Everytime i have money to put a sizeable downpayment on a cruise another stop comes. I WANT MY FAMILY AND I TO CRUISE!!!!!!
I love cruising but won't take the 💉 as soon as the mandate is dropped im 1st in line to book a cruise
I took my mask off when I saw the first TSA employee wearing it as a chin strap.
What's sad is cruises are always a target for the media and the government… For no good reason either… Even pre covid. That being said I hope they lift the Vax soon honestly the Carnival CEO is being short sited… He hasn't had to deal with it cause Covid wasn't that deadly to begin with and if anything is weaker now cause of the variants… Also what about people like me who are naturally immune? I hope they lift it soon if not cruising is dead to me…
The point about not wanting people to be so sick that they need to be hospitalized needs to be put in context. The older you are the higher risk you have of being hospitalized whether you are vaccinated or not. A young healthy person without the vaccine I would think has just as much chance or better of not being hospitalized as a vaccinated old person with core morbidities. Still hoping the cruise industry gets rid of the vaccine mandate. Would love to cruise again. Also they only have data on what it's like with fully vaccinated ships so they have nothing to compare to saying that cruise ships with vaccinated and unvaccinated guests have a greater chance or needing people to be hospitalized.
I don't like what Carnival is saying, but thanks Tony for telling what their silly reasoning is. ☺️
When is elon goin to start a cruiseline 🙁
I have a 7 night cruise on the fantasy in October, I am vaccinated so not worried about that, but I want the stress of testing gone, it is so stressful especially since as of rn everyone in the travel party has to get tested…so for me that’s 5 chances to not be able to cruise
No, the real reason is the cruise lines don't want to be sued. It's a CYA situation. Haven't most of us already had Covid? All my family and friends have.
“Not being that sympathetic to the unvaccinated“? Their companies were built by two factions. The unvaccinated and vaccinated. Everyone helped participate in building these companies to their current prestige. Now, only one of these factions gets to benefit from what we all built up. I totally get it why the cruise industry is doing it, but if things ever come back to normal, Shouldn’t the unvaccinated get super special treatment, since we got shafted for 2+ years? For instance, first pick on everything? At least first pick and perhaps discounts for a year or so. That would be fair.
Next HAL cruise is in October on the Zuiederdam doing Grand Africa.
