Since we’ve been traveling full time we’ve always been teetering on this middle line between living like a local and yet vacationing like a tourist today i tried to balance that out and it just went horribly horribly wrong for me where marissa nathan hensley and jj after living in

Our rv for six years we’re taking a 10-week adventure detour to visit our 50th state of hawaii life is a journey let go and get going i am not a huge fan boy of much of anything yeah i don’t stand in line for the new movies i don’t rush

Out for the touristy attractions i don’t get super excited about much of anything but growing up one of the first things that ever caught my eye one of the first things i would actually consider myself a fan boy for was the series jurassic park but i can remember going to the

Theater to the first jurassic park and sitting with my friends almost falling out of my seat when that raptor comes popping out of the ceiling just in awe of the effects and the storyline and how it just sort of took me back to my childhood it’s my favorite

Movie series of all time in the jurassic park films for the most part have been filmed in hawaii And so when i found out that you could tour the place where jurassic park was made i said look clear it off like this is the one thing that i want to do but then we found out it was sold out jj has been exhausted he’s been tired we’ve been running him

Pretty hard today i said look i’m going to stay back with jj and everybody else because we’re traveling with a family they were gonna go to a beach and do a hike and i was like we’ll just stay back well they did the beach one two three They did the hike so this is the crouching lion hike because this rock formation behind me makes a lion face and look who did it with me i’m so proud of you this was a little more intense than i had uh thought but she did it and

I’m so proud of her and then on the way back they’re right next to the jurassic park area if you are a fan of jurassic park then you know this place this is the kahlua ranch i was just driving by the ranch and thought let’s

Just stop in and take a look around and see what it looks like see if there’s any openings the girl at the front kind of laughed at us when we asked about opening she’s like yes you know rarely happens we go we ask the ticket office and they have an atv tour

That had just canceled and i’m here almost an hour and a half away with jj they’d be closed by the time they came back and got me anyways i think she’s just kind of bracing me that she was gonna get to go when i wasn’t it’s tough

For me at least i don’t know about jj but buddy you drink an insane amount of chocolate milk you know that started to downpour rain right after we booked our tour which might be why somebody canceled might be a little muddy we’re already muddy from our hike so

We’ll take it so this cage was used in the new jurassic world fallen kingdom look at that it’s incredible is everybody I ready this belief when it comes to travel i wanted to have the mindset that we’re living in hawaii not vacationing in hawaii but as you can probably guess that is not what’s happened we got to hawaii and everything is epic we’ve been go go go go go

I’m just i was exhausted today jj was exhausted today i think he’s knocking on my door right now jj what’s up buddy what are you doing because although it may look like we’re on this constant vacation we have tons of things we have to do on a regular basis we’re creating content tweaking

Camera gear doing home school stuff with hinsley we got laundry i mean really just all the usual just because you’ve you know no longer have a typical 9 to 5 or live in a house doesn’t mean a lot of those responsibilities just all of a sudden disappear [Applause] 50 first dates you guys remember that part where lucy’s driving through the valley she’s distracted and ends up running over that penguin that’s filmed out here we got godzilla’s footprints out here where is it I don’t see it so if you guys are familiar with the stonehenges on easter island national geographic came out tested some of the theories of how the natives actually transported those move those around I love the show lost okay that’s where lost was found lost terrible this is where jumanji was filmed mighty joe young film location is that you in the video yes he’s that daddy that is daddy i think the phrase that we’ve had to constantly tell ourselves rving traveling to hawaii

Everywhere we’ve gone by the way these are epic when they’re fresh not fresh like it’s only good when you’re trying to like make yourself forget about the fact that your wife and kid are on some epic excursion and you’re not i think it’s the phrase we’ll be back

If i was a cow this is where i would want to live so this is a working ranch so that’s why you see all these cows and they grow coffee and lots of different things here make their own chocolate the tree is styrofoam yeah you can see

So he said hollywood’s kind of cheap and he wasn’t joking a styrofoam oh well that takes the magic out of jurassic park doesn’t it all right hensley what do you got oh yeah so they let you stop along the way and check out some of the props

This is so cool so this building is just plywood and the trees are styrofoam so we’re seeing here can’t beat that right looks so real so they have this little hand puppet dinosaur and we’re going to create a video of us running from the dinosaur i don’t know why this is so fun

To me Will we actually be back i don’t know but do we hope we’ll be back do we plan to be back because if we don’t tell ourselves that phrase and we’ve said this phrase i’m literally gonna say probably hundreds on the world jj hey buddy have that diaper come off over there

But if we don’t tell ourselves the phrase and we’ve literally told ourselves this phrase possibly you know i’m gonna say hundreds of times we will wear ourselves out trying to do anything and everything in the area instead of just really embracing where we’re at in the moment and enjoying where we’re at

At that time No Oh ziplining would be amazing jj where’s your diaper yeah did you take that offer to just fall off we got some serious problems if he’s taking his dapper off unless you’re ready to go the potty hey jj you’ll go to the potty yeah let’s go poo-poo in the potty okay

So we’re just gonna get a toy hauler and atv everywhere now what is it It’s starting to Oh rain we’re getting us a rain the fog is coming in around these What i’m mountains to tell you Yeah i think you’re interested in or thinking about traveling full-time it’s a lot of like maybe working for business and then going out and working on your own there is a lot of flexibility there but there’s also a lot of accountability a lot of discipline you determine how

Much money you’re spending eating out you determine how many excursions you’re going on you determine how fast you go what you’re doing especially if you have to get work done in the process too you’re finding that balance between those things and today just felt like one of those days where i need to

Balance that a little bit sometimes you make the choice to say no to things and you you might miss out the alternative you don’t take time to hold you that was so much fun look at my face oh my gosh you’re filthy that’s when you know you had a good time

I have a unicorn that is hilarious that was so much fun so here’s an example of the advantage of slowing down staying longer immersing yourself in an area this house we’re staying in right now if you want to stay for a week you can’t stay in this house in hawaii

So we’re in the ewa beach area down here if you search airbnb i just did a random week in october there’s only five stays in that area but if you change this to a month in october it goes from five to thirty if you do a month at a time in

Hawaii you’ve got a lot more options and places to stay and you get to stay outside of maybe some of those more touristy and crowded areas by doing that as well so um i think i need to hit the wash station up or maybe i should just leave it like this

So much fun i’m so glad that this opened up and we almost didn’t get this opportunity so definitely just stop in you never know what will come open so so much fun oh man but you didn’t miss anything nathan pulling his diaper off today i don’t know what the deal is it’s very

Frustrating that’s brought him outside how was it does my face not say it all look how different i want to see your smiling face i better be miserable you didn’t miss anything no we had a we had a good day i mean it was eventful well not a lot happened today he stopped

Wearing his diapers so there’s that but he just keeps ripping it off i thought i put it on wrong i’ll leave him with you for one day and he wants to go commando buddy i gotta hold it right here to blur you out we’re lying down
