Cerro San Cristobal may not be the tallest hill in Santiago, but it is arguably the most famous. And there’s plenty to see, do, and eat up on that hill. So… we go, we see, we do, and we eat. Come along and check it out. Also, I will be pronouncing Cristóbal wrong for this entire video (and possibly future videos as well). Sorry.

Today we’re going to go to the top of San christobal Hill s San Christal most famous Hill in city of Santiago come along before we do that I just want to say real quick thank you very much for watching the video click the like button and the Subscribe button and leave a
Comment down below it’s free it’s easy and it will help the channel grow and help this content reach other YouTube viewers all right back to the video so there it is out there in the distance on crystal ball Hill CER all this on crystal ball and uh there’s a lot of
Ways you can get up this thing or down this thing you could drive up there you could walk up there actually if you wanted to but I mean it’s gigantic if I tried to walk up that thing I would literally die I think you drive up
There I think there are buses that go up there but two most interesting ways I think are a uh funicular there’s a funicular Railway like a small Railway that like goes up the side of the Hill it’s kind of old I think that was one of the first ways to get up the
Hill and uh there’s also a cable car a telerico I think it’s called a telerico cable car and that apparently has the best views because it’s this cable car that runs like from the top of the hill all the way down and we’re sort of
Suspended up like 500 fet in the air so maybe we’ll check that out so I think maybe we’ll take the funicular up and then we’ll see what there is to see up at the top and then maybe we’ll take the uh telerico back down get some right
Nice views on the way back down in the meantime on the way there we’re walking through this neighborhood which is uh B Vista B Vista which is like a beautiful view and there’s a beautiful view this neighborhood sits like right at the foot at the base of that big
Hill so couple blocks away here up from this hill and uh when we get there I’ll check in cuz we’re going to have to I think we’re going to have to buy a ticket for the uh the finicula to go up so we’ll see how much that costs and uh we’ll
Check in when we get there so up here at the corner right by the station where the ficula goes up and there’s also a zoo here which is pretty cool maybe we’ll check that out probably not in this video there’s a lot to see up the top of the hill we’ll check out
The zoo in a future video but I think this is where we buy our tickets for the ficula let’s see 60 MOS okay so it’s like right up here yeah there’s already a line so this must be the place we’re in the station we’re on the ficula we’re about to go
Up up that hill and it’s far it’s pretty far up the hill but hopefully there’ll be some really really nice views up here so we bought one ticket it was for the ficula to go up and the telal to come back down and to do that it cost like
Six 6,000 pesos I think about it’s a long way up though very long ficula has Windows on the roof which is really nice so you can like see back the view of the city as you’re going up huge huge City I have some nice views going up but
There’s a lot of trees sort of blocking the way I hope that the views on the telal on the way down are better oh actually here’s a nice view made it up to the top observation deck oh beautiful views up here well I thought we got pretty good views
From the top of s Santa Lucia Santa Lucia Hill but man this is uh this is next level actually you can see s Sant Lucia right over there like just over the top of this tree right there there’s a castle hilalo really incredible views up here I
Mean just crazy just want to try M which is like a pretty famous street food here in uh in Santiago Chile and it’s basically like a drink and a food at the same time it’s it’s like mote which is like this barley they put at the bottom
Andio which I guess is like there’s a peach there’s like a a peach dried peach in there and this liquid that I don’t know I think it’s kind of sweet I don’t know we’re going to give it a try it’s pretty good it’s got like a these peaches it’s basically like a dried
Peach that then has been soaked in this juice the juice is like a peach juice but it’s it’s not as sweet as I thought it was going to be I honestly thought looking at it that it was going to be like really sweet and syrupy but it’s not bad I bet all
He’s got these little barley pieces that sort of sit in the bottom and they kind of like soak up the juice makes it very very tasty it’s interesting it’s a drink and a food at the same time which is always interesting that was really good a lot
Of places they uh they serve that like um you know like little food stalls all over the place I’ve been seeing them on the streets and uh most of the time they’ll serve it in like a little plastic cup or something but that place
Had it in a nice nice big glass so that was pretty cool it was good it was better uh I don’t know I I had the feeling that it was going to be really really sweet and it was sweet but it wasn’t like insanely sweet it was good
The peaches were interesting cuz it’s definitely not like a canned Peach it’s like a a peach that was dried and then like put soaked in there to I don’t know like soak in all that juice so it has this uh really interesting texture and The Barley um well it’s quite good it’s
Like softened it’s good it’s nice and cool something to drink and eat which is interesting see behind us the beautiful view down Santiago all the way up here at the top and uh up there there’s this statue right up there statue of uh Virgin Mary we found the
Sanio that’s what we were seeing when we saw that uh statue the Statue of the Virgin Mary looks like there’s a store up here that’s selling like little religious items Okay so let’s see where’s that statue there’s the statue up there it’s behind a tree see if we can get up a little
Further and see it there’s the statue it’s really big I mean you can see some people standing right there below it so you can see how big it is so you can go all the way up to the top see the statue people taking some photos in front of it
And then over here there’s a place where people are putting like rosary beads uh burning candles for prayers very cool and there’s great great views from up here that was cool to see it’s very cool to see up close we’re going to head back down see what else there is to see up
Here there is a a chapel up here too like a Church see Elia Mar let’s take a look inside real quick quick peek it’s really very beautiful looks very old too so the hill was originally tup tup tup tup anyway it was renamed s San Christo after St Christopher and it was renamed
By Pedro de Valia the Conquistador who Conquistador this area um the Spanish conquistador from our previous video and the interesting thing about this hill is the side of it on the like Southern Slope for a long time you know before this was a tourist attraction there were quaries down there
Where they were pulling Stone out and uh they used the stone that they pulled out of those quaries to make uh la Mona to build L Mona la Mona is the presidential Palace of uh of Chile so it’s like the White House or KAS Tada in um in
Argentina in Buenos CES so I think that’s interesting now this whole area um like there’s another Hill that’s right next to it and it’s a series of like three hills and they’re all connected it’s all one like contiguous Green Space and they were all sort of
Independent but I guess back in the 60s they made a law that designated the whole thing the par metropolitano de Santiago Santiago Metropolitan Park and and it’s like the largest urban park in all of Chile it’s one of the largest urban parks in the entire world and it’s
Really really cool um there’s a lot of stuff to see up here there’s some other stuff on some of the other Hills and like down at the bottom by the uh By The Station the uh the bottom station of the teledo which we’re going to end up there
They call it the Oasis and we’re going to end up there there’s like a Japanese garden that I want to see and there’s one other thing that I want to get we got got that street food the uh uh m m and I wanted to try that that’s like a
Very popular street food around here but there’s one other thing that I do want to try it’s a street food and I’m sure I’m going to be able to find something around here somewhere it’s called a compto and basically what it is is it’s a hot dog and it’s served with like
Guacamole and mayonnaise on top of it that’s the style how they do it here in Santiago so I really want to check that out but anyway we’re right here by the the uh the station for the telerico and I think we’re going to hop on and head back down and hopefully catch some
Amazing views on the way down that was a pretty good ride we’re down here at the bottom there’s the station we just came out of and you can see the cars coming down now I will say I think it would be better uh to ride the
Telerico up and I’ll tell you why the door is on the side with the best views and the door has like some windows that have vents in them that kind of block the views and the door itself kind of blocks the views on the other side of the car there’s basically just like
Window so you can see the doors on that green car that’s going by and then on this blue car coming down on the side that’s opposite at the doors there’s basically just window but if you’re coming down that window just sort of faces the hill and it doesn’t have the
Views of the city but if you were going up you’d get that window looking out on the city so if I were to do this again I would say the best way to probably do it is not come down on the telerico but to go up on the telerico and that will give
You the best views anyway uh there’s a little stand over here that’s selling completos I think we’re going to get one of those and then want to visit a Japanese garden there’s a Japanese garden down here that looks pretty cool we’ll check that out all right so we
Ordered our compto from nice lady over there also going to get a pineapple juice delicious uh it’s getting really hot so it’s perfect time to cool off with a nice cool pineapple juice one thing I noticed around here is uh the signs of course all everywhere for
Everything are in Spanish but they also have a decent amount of like English signs and also uh port PES also so like at the ticket booth for example there would be a sign that would say you know in Spanish something and then it would have a picture of uh like the UK flag
Right for English and then would have it written in English and then they’d have a picture of the Brazilian flag and have it written in Portuguese so I imagine they get a lot of Brazilian tourists here too otherwise I mean you know why are they they’re putting they’re putting
Signs in Portuguese with the Brazilian flag on them so that’s that’s really interesting Al I mean it makes sense like Brazil’s a giant giant country tons of people there and I imagine they want to come here and see you know the amazing stuff in Santiago same as uh
Same as the rest of us it’s interesting on the way down uh uh on the on the car the cable car of the uh tedo on the way down we were in there with um couple of uh other groups and uh two people from Colombia and then two people from the
United Kingdom which was cool so we got to uh chat with them a little bit but like I said uh coming down the views not as as great coming down as I had expected so definitely if you come here ride the telal up you’ll get a lot
Better views going up also just a note if you’re going up or down on the telerico there is a stop halfway it stops at uh tup tup Hill the Pina there’s a swimming pool up there Pina tah so halfway there’s a stop so if you are coming all
The way down to the Oasis by the Japanese garden like I did don’t get off at that place cuz you’ll be stuck there until the next uh the next ter telerico comes through but if you do want to go and swim in the pool uh you can do that
At the Pina P way halfway down the hill I’m really excited for this uh this compto this hot dog they’re cooking it up right now I can’t wait another thing I’ve noticed around here while we’re still waiting for our compto is uh this is very different from
Argentina in the that doesn’t seem like it’s a real cash kind of a city in uh in sanago I don’t know if that’s all over Chile or if it’s just in the city in Santiago but doesn’t seem like people use cash very much I mean in Argentina it’s like cash everywhere everybody uses
Cash they take credit cards at a lot of places but Mo for the most part people are just paying cash for everything and uh a lot of that of course has to do with like the inflation and the the Dual exchange rates and for a lot of reasons people are just us
Cash um but here I’ve noticed when I try to use cash a lot of places like they won’t have enough change um and they just don’t have a lot of cash and everybody’s just using credit card for pretty much everything so um I guess that makes it easier if you’re a tourist
You can come here and use your credit card in places you know no problem um I was able to get cash out of an ATM here which uh was pretty easy uh it’s different from Argentina of course because Argentina if you get cash out of
An ATM you get that uh the normal like official exchange rate and you lo you if you’re exchanging you know if your bank account has dollars or Euros or whatever um and you’re getting cash out of an ATM you’re losing a lot of a lot of money to
The exchange rate um so just keep that in mind if you come here uh it’s probably good to have a little bit of cash on you like for you know maybe like a street vendor or something like that but uh for the most part most places
That I’ve gone to they prefer it seems like they prefer a credit card um and cash is uh is not used very often so there it is completo and a pineapple juice now the compto here’s an interesting thing they call the compto Italiano uh it has like tomatoes it has
Guacamole it has mayonnaise and it has a sausage a like hot dog they call the hot dog a viona uh I have no idea why this is called an Italiano because like it’s a viones sausage with guacamole on it of course the guacamole here is made from
Avocados which they call palta which is the same as in Argentina unlike in Mexico where they call it awakate now another interesting thing what she gave me this drink she gave me a straw or she told me to take a straw but she called it a bisha and we know
That word from Argentina the bisha is the special straw that they use in a mate to drink sh and this kind of a straw this normal like drinking straw in Argentina they call it a sorete or pita it’s also called so once again Spanish is really really weird and there’s a lot of
Different words for different stuff all over the place anyway it’s time to try this thing and there’s no way I’m going to be able to film myself eating this so we’re just going to try it and I’ll let you know how it is well that was pretty good was
Pretty good I actually ate about like uh 2/3 of it and and then unfortunately the last third like I it accidentally fell off the table it landed on the ground and uh that’s the end of that but up until that point it was pretty good um I
Think I think I got to try like different versions of it like I think we got to go to like different places and try different completos and find like the best compto cuz I imagine they make it in places all over the city and you got to find like your place you know
That you really like best place but it’s interesting while I was while I was eating that you know thinking about like all the different uh different words in Spanish that mean different things like uh here in Chile and in Argentina they say Pala for our avocado instead of in Mexico where they say
Aate and uh it’s funny I have some uh friends from Argentina and friends from Mexico also and sometimes we chat online and when we all get into a chat together people chatting online like on you know Discord or something like that uh it doesn’t take long for them to start
Arguing over what words are the correct words for things especially when they’re trying to like teach me Spanish getting into war over whether it’s palta or aate the the long-standing PARTA War anyway I just find that interesting one of the things that’s really interesting about Chile specifically uh versus
Argentina where we were is uh in Argentina there are um the buses in Argentina right they’re called uh colectivos those are a bus that’s a bus that like uh goes around the city and then a bus that goes in between cities like a long haul bus they call it
A micro but then here in uh in Chile the bus that goes around the city is called a micro and a collectivo is not a bus at all it’s it’s like a a taxi that you take with multiple people like a group taxi and then a taxi of course is just
Called a taxi and uh a bus that goes in between the cities here is just called unus a bus so you know you cross over one border all of a sudden the language changes even though it’s the same language it’s Spanish but everything’s different you know in Argentina they
Don’t speak Spanish they speak Argentino here in Chile they don’t speak Spanish they speak Chileno and they speak it really really fast so from the bottom of the uh of the Teto can actually go up this like little Trail here to get to the Japanese garden Japanese garden it turns out is
Like up the hill a little ways I thought it was like right next to the where the T fedo ends but it’s up the hill a little bit so take a nice little hike and uh we’ll see you when you get there all right here we are Japanese garden hardine
Hones already looks very beautiful from outside I imagine it’s going to be even nicer inside friendship Garden Hardin dead very very cool wow this is a really nice I like that it’s up here on the edge of this like on the side of the hill so you can look down over the city
See the uh big Skyscraper the coost costao Costa Tower I think it’s called costanera I was asking someone actually in the telerico um who who worked who works here and she said that that’s the costaa center the tallest uh tallest building in South America not in Latin America because
Somewhere in Mexico there’s a taller one very beautiful views of the City from here on the side of the Hill very beautiful little Pond waterfall and like a Japanese looking sculpture very cool goes a little further up the hill there’s like multiple tears seems like there’s this little like
Stream that runs through the whole garden all the way down very nice another waterfall here under the bridge see what this says biofilter system oh it’s a biofilter system from the water that comes out of the bathroom I think collects the water goes through a bof filter pump
Pumps it up through a bof filter back down and into the Japanese garden I guess I don’t know whatever it is seems pretty cool this little like area up here at the top I guess maybe this is what they’re talking about it pumps it up to there eventually and then it comes back
Down maybe I don’t even know I don’t know if this is the water they’re talking about there were some bath comes down below it looks like there are some other buildings here too maybe that’s like where they’re filtering it’s pretty cool seems to be kept very very clean which is nice
I think this is about it though we uh go back down we’re back right out at the uh the gate where we came in it’s pretty small but very beautiful it’s very cool very cool place to see glad we came here it was worth hiking up the uh the hill a little bit
To see it and one thing to note about the uh the par metropolitano here is uh you can’t actually bring your own car in here I was wrong about that I thought that maybe you could or the taxis could come in here too but they can’t you have
To either take well you have to either hike up yourself you can hike all the way up the hill if you want um or you can take the uh tedo up or down you can take the buses the panoramic like sightseeing buses that they have up or down or um you can take
The uh funicular little Railway up the side of the Hill like we came up but can’t drive up here yourself so if you’re thinking of that you want to visit and you bring your car you have to park it down at the bottom of the hill somewhere and then take something else
To get up to the top of the hill over there and there it is of course there’s like the top of that actually I think that is San Christal Hill right there up at the top because I can just barely see the statue like poking up of course like I mentioned the par
Metropolitano here is a series of Hills it’s not just San Christo Ball Hill there’s a couple other like lower Hills like this one that we’re on right here that are next to San Christo Ball Hill anyway I think we’ve seen seen a good amount of stuff here at par
Metropolitano I think it’s probably time we head back down the hill and uh we call it for this video well I think that’s going to be it so it’s a good day good video I think uh good place to end the video saw what we wanted to see here at U the par
Metropolitano we went out way all the way up to the top of Zan Christo Ball Hill we saw some really cool stuff tried some really good street food and uh I think that’s going to be it so thanks for watching hope you enjoyed it and we’ll see you in the next video

amazing views!
The tallest latin-american building is indeed in mexico, but it was finished in 2016 while the costanera in 2012, they literally just extended it a few meters to get the first place, the one in chile is 300m while the mexican is 305m 💀 you can buy a ticket to the last floor in the costanera, its like 12 bucks, its called the costanera sky or sm.
Amazing views
Wasn’t it an apricot?😂
The view is really amazing! I was there a couple days ago. And yeah, I am still chasing you in your trip 😂😂😂
"On a clear day, you can see forever" certainly applied here. Great views, and video.
Food! 🎉
