Hello everyone! This time, I would like to introduce Matsumoto in Nagano Prefecture. I went sightseeing in Matsumoto with a friend who lives in Nagoya due to a job transfer, so please use it as a reference. First, drive from Achi Village in Nagano Prefecture to Matsumoto.

If you go directly from Tokyo to Matsumoto, it will take about two and a half hours by train from Shinjuku. By the way, we visited Achi Village in Nagano Prefecture the day before. Achi Village is said to have the most beautiful starry sky in Japan.

For lunch, we will have Matsumoto’s famous soba noodles. This is a shop called “Nomugi”, and the nearby shop called “Sobakiri Miyota” is famous, but this shop is also popular. The menu is only soba and sake. I ordered soba for one person.

The noodles were thin, the soup was thick, and it was delicious! Arrive at your hotel today. It takes about 5 minutes on foot from Matsumoto station. This is a hotel that was renewed in July 2021 and as you can see it is beautiful.

The price is about 5500 yen per person, which is good value for money, and it is a substantial hotel with a large public bath. You can choose Yukata and amenities like this in front of the elevator. Now let’s go inside the room. This is what the room looks like.

The room was clean, and the toilet was equipped with a washlet, so I felt that it was a perfect hotel. Next, we will head to Matsumoto Castle for Matsumoto sightseeing. Matsumoto is compact as a whole, and it is convenient because you can walk to Matsumoto Castle from the hotel you mentioned earlier.

This is Matsumoto Castle. Matsumoto Castle is a rare black castle among Japanese castles, and its beautiful appearance has become popular with tourists. A fee will be charged for this. The price is 700 yen for adults. By the way, I will introduce the details later, but

The stairs inside Matsumoto Castle are very steep, so women should be careful not to wear short skirts. Let’s go inside. You can relax with lots of greenery. There are also flowers blooming that demons don’t like. As you go inside, the number of people is being adjusted here, so

Wait about 15 minutes before entering. Weapons, armor, paintings, and pottery are on display inside the castle, allowing you to experience history. As for the inside, it wasn’t that big, and there weren’t any rooms. However, I think it’s interesting because you can see the construction that is conscious of battle everywhere.

By the way, as you can see, the stairs are very steep, but there are various theories as to why. From the castle tower on the top floor, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Matsumoto city, especially in the spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.

Including the waiting time, you can go around everything in about an hour, so when you visit Matsumoto, please visit. Next, we will walk around “Nawate-street” and “Nakamachi-street” near Matsumoto Castle. The two streets that run parallel to each other across the river called “Metoba River” are the main streets for sightseeing in Matsumoto.

First of all, this “Nawate Street” is a retro street with a downtown feel. By the way, the symbol of this street is a frog, and it is said that there used to be many frogs who could only live in a clean river. , seems to have been picked up.

There are also temples along the way. There are miscellaneous goods, shaved ice, potatoes, and cafes. This taiyaki restaurant seems to be popular, so I will also have taiyaki here. It was crispy, not too sweet, and delicious! If you go ahead, there are also cafes and restaurants.

If you continue across the river and go a little further, you will come to Nakamachi Street. This is Nakamachi Street. This street is cobblestoned and has many craft shops, creating a stylish atmosphere. There are various craft shops, and you can enjoy sweets such as gelato like this.

Next, we went to the Matsumoto City Museum of Art. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the street above. Many of you may recognize the exhibits and the atmosphere here . In fact, the world-famous artist “Yayoi Kusama” is said to be from Matsumoto, and

Many of Yayoi Kusama’s major collections are on display at this museum. I wasn’t able to take a picture of the inside, but if you’re interested, I hope you’ll take a look. By the way, the sculpture on the front is a work called “Phantom Flower”, and it looks like a certain Pac-n-Flower.

For dinner, I will have dinner at a restaurant recommended by a friend who lives in Matsumoto. Let’s have a toast with beer. This shop is a calm private room, and it seems that you can enjoy Matsumoto’s gourmet. Here you can enjoy a wide range of dishes such as horse sashimi, sashimi,

And yakitori. And Matsumoto gourmet “Sanzokuyaki”. It is a local dish made by dipping a piece of chicken in sauce. It’s similar to fried chicken, and you can’t miss it when you come to Matsumoto. Other dishes were also delicious. For lunch the next day, I had Dandan noodles here.

Matsumoto is famous for soba noodles, but this is recommended when you want to eat noodles with a strong flavor. This is dandan noodles without soup like this, and it was more delicious than I imagined. Finally, buy souvenirs at the station. One of the most popular Matsumoto souvenirs is the Raicho no Sato.

Sweet senbei, isn’t it? Next is soba. You can enjoy authentic soba at home. This is dorayaki from Kaiundo. And this “milk bread”, a bread with plenty of cream, seems to be popular. Matsumoto is recommended because it is easy to access from Tokyo and you can do sightseeing quickly!
